The water park is composed of one part Onsen and another plus water Attraction park.
The water park is awful! To flee absolutely! Extremely dubious cleanliness: full of mold in outdoor baths , damaged infrastructure with torn floors, overcrowding of children and adults , basic outdoor slides , ice merchants and snacks everywhere with a noise level close to an airport ...
If you are looking for calm and serenity, you are not in the right place ...
Only positive the second part with the Onsens with fewer people and different pools with different thermal waters.

Ignore what you've seen on Instagram/TikTok and in the reviews. Yunessun turned out to be a place I'd never return to, nor recommend to even my worst enemy.
It's inexpensive with potential to be a fun place, but you get what you pay for. They crammed thousands upon thousands of adults & children into the place, and it was obvious that they didn't care to limit admissions. It was so overrun and crowded that it was impossible to use almost any of the pools, slides, or hot spring baths. Lockers were barely available,
There were mere inches in between people in the pools and baths - which is extremely dangerous - in addition to being plain obnoxious. They allow families & children to bring in giant inflated pool rings, toys, beach balls & floaties which made things way more crowded than it could've been (in many USA water parks, they don't allow these to be brought in).
There were long queues for EVERYTHING. Food, showers, hairdryers, bathrooms (which were filthy), clothing dryers - EVERYTHING. The queue for Dr. Fish took well over an hour (and was an additional cost). Even the line to checkout and leave was wrapped around the entire floor and extended down the stairwell.
Getting there by public transit is a real chore too. There are no direct trains, and the public local buses to get there are at the mercy of traffic & hills. One narrow cliff-side lane in, one narrow cliff-side lane out. From the train, it took close to an hour on the local bus.
Don't waste your time. Yunessun is not worth the trip.

For the happiness of the little ones! Slides, different baths including some flavored with coffee, green tea, etc. The park is divided into two parts: 1 part park and 1 part onsen, separate tickets for either site or combined. Onsens are top with several indoor and outdoor pools at different temperatures. On site, massages possible, restaurants... Very nice day!!!

Yunessun onsen is a fantastic and relaxing experience for family, adults and kids. They have multiple themed spa areas such as wine, coffee, tea where the spa water actually has those ingredients mixed in the water and the spa decorations match. There is an outside spa on terraces with a great view - and having gone in October they had dozens of floating pumpkins in the spa to simulate a pumpkin patch. Our kids (9 & 12) loved it and it was completely safe for them and probably younger kids too. We stayed in a local Air B&B house and were able to see other local attractions such as Lake Ashi, the Hakone black eggs, the Owakudani volcanic steam vents, Odawara Castle, and others.

Really fun half day. The different pools with coffee and wine and sake were cool. Only one slide. Beautiful view from outside pool. Great for kids and teenagers. The onsen area was very peaceful and beautiful views while soaking in hot tubs.

January 2024. This is our first visit from Tokyo.
We took our 4 and 7 year olds with us. We only went to Yunessun, and did not go to Yunomori. I was worried about whether it would be cold, so we prepared a lot of things, but it was fine.
The kids were delighted! The 7 year old played from 10:30 to 14:30. His favorite was the stream. The 4 year old left around 12:00 and took a nap in the tatami rest area (5th floor). We brought our own towels. We could rent swimsuits and towels.
It was cold in January, so I was worried that it would be cold when we had lunch inside, so I brought something to wear over my clothes, but my 4 year old said he was cold, so we just put a towel over his shoulders and it was fine!
Flip flops and other footwear were prohibited, and the stone floor inside was rough and painful (like health sandals). My 4 year old made a big fuss saying "It hurts, it hurts!" and we had to carry him around.
There was a long line for the water slide, probably because many people were still on holiday after the New Year, and my son, who loves slides, only went on it 2-3 times.
It took about 30 seconds of brisk walking to get to the open-air observation bath, and it was quite cold in January. Well, I guess that's part of the fun of going in January. It felt good to bathe in the open-air bath in the cold!
It was mostly fun, but there were no attractions that stood out, and it didn't feel like you could play there for long. If I'm in the area, I might stop by again, but I don't think I'll go again...
If I want to have fun at the pool in winter, I might go.

Very organised check-in and check-out system. We went for the non-traditional one (can wear swimming costumes). Can rent swimming costumes and towels. Many different pools both indoors and outdoors. We went in winter and the slides were open! there are 2 warm pools at the top of the slides where we keep ourselves warm while we wait for our turn to use the slides. Many pools with different "smells/flavours". Not everyone's cup of tea though. Most of my family members prefer to stick to the traditional hot tubs - no weird flavour or colour. Look out for discount coupons at Odawara station beside Tourist Information Centre (for a good discount - more than the - 200 yen Hakone Pass provides). Feel this is the best experience for tourists who want to experience hot springs without going the traditional way (without clothes).

I went back after a long time, and the outdoor facility "Yutopia" was gone!
It had been scaled down considerably! There was only a small pool and a few baths that smelled of strange air freshener... my elementary school-aged child quickly got bored of it and didn't enjoy it at all.
The only good thing was the Rodeo Mountain (water slide) outside. (The man supervising was lazy and not very motivated...)
The trash cans in the food corner were overflowing to the point where you couldn't put any trash in, but they never changed them!
I wish the photo staff at the entrance and the food corner staff would clean the trash cans if they were just standing there! It's very unsanitary.
It's also stingy that towels are charged separately these days.
The entire staff was unmotivated.
The food in the food corner was expensive and tasted bad, like it was back in the Showa era.
It was small and cramped for the price, and really boring.
The old Yunessun, which was fun, is no longer there...

Yunessun was such a blast. We were staying in a local ryokan with a private onsen, but wanted a public onsen experience. The Mori no Yu section of Yunessun is really beautiful - we went in the morning when it opened and I had the women's section all to myself! I had fun exploring the collagen, beer, laydown, and other onsen. The Yunessun section was definitely more family-oriented with lots of kids, but we enjoyed the silliness of bathing in wine, tea, sake, and coffee, plus the water slides. Overall, a very unique experience in Japan.

Here we got to bathe in red wine, sake, coffee, sports drink, green tea. Fish that gnawed on the feet. Beautiful outdoor pool with mountain views. Fun and crazy. Clean and well maintained. Friendly staff. The local bus stopped right outside.

I have a tatoo that is on my thigh. I have no issues covering it but am curious if the fact I would be wearing long tight shorts would be an issue?

Hi there,
I am having trouble finding more info on the amusement-spa venue. If we want to use the private sauna as a family, where do we book that?

Hello is the red wine bath a real thing? Or I am hallucinating
كُتب بتاريخ 13 يونيو 2019
They have a wine bath. It has just enough wine in it to color the water a slight shade of pink.

Can you take a camera in to the swimsuit areas?
كُتب بتاريخ 12 يونيو 2019
We took pics with our phones and GoPro with no problems. I didn’t see any signs stating that we couldn’t do so. And no one hassled us about it.

Can a 2.5 year old go into the water? He normally wears a swim nappy to go swimming as he isnt toilet trained. Do I need to bring his swim nappy? Or does he just go naked? We will be going in March (and so the outdoor pools will be closed I guess)
Thanks
كُتب بتاريخ 22 فبراير 2019
I don’t know if the child is is not toilet trained if he/she is able to go in. I would be bring some swim nappy and see. Probably you and the child would be able to go in the family section of the indoor pool where they wear clothing.

Hi, can I know if I can wait with baby in the water park while my husband and my eldest child go into the water park? Do i still need to pay since we are not going into the pool. And is there anything to do inside the water park?
كُتب بتاريخ 7 نوفمبر 2018
Yes you can wait without paying and they have a lobby you stay but once you go through the electronic gates at the site you have to pay.
كُتب بتاريخ 7 نوفمبر 2018
Do they have a place to store your bags? I’ll be going here for the day on my way to Kyoto. Need a place to stash my suitcases
كُتب بتاريخ 2 أكتوبر 2018
The train station has bigger spaces i know for sure. They do provide lockers at the spa but would maybe fit a day bag. You may just pack a small bag and leave suitcase at the train station.
