‪Small but really interesting museum‬

‪So interesting, really exciting story. Reminding us on the spionage during the cold war in western part of the world. Made us reflect on how it must be having North Korea as a neighbouring country.‬

‪North Korean spy incursion exhibit ‬

Located right behind the Red Brick Warehouse.

Hosted by the Japanese Coast Guard, there is an exhibit of the December 2001 North Korean Spy incident where the Japanese Coast Guard captured a spy vessel off the coast of Kyushu.

You can see the bullet holes in the hull, the missiles that were found, you can peer into the inside of the ship - it was very interesting!!!

Remember, it is free. ‬

‪海上保安庁の大切さが解ります‬

‪こちらは、横浜海上防災基地（赤レンガパーク隣）にある資料館です。
北朝鮮の工作船（現物）と船内からの数多くの遺留品などが展示されており、工作船の大きさとシステムの古さが印象的で、海上保安庁の大切さが解りました。‬

‪Interesting Exhibit of Current Interest‬

‪The exhibit is of a DPRK “spy boat” captured in 2001. The ship is quite interesting along with weapons and person effects of those on the ship. It was designed to appear as a Japanese fishing boat but was equipped with more powerful engines and had weaponry. The occupants died before being captured and inflicted harm on Japanese Coast Guard soldiers and boats. There is English signage and an English-language brochure. Worth stopping if you have any interest in current events.‬

‪北朝鮮の違法操業舟が引き上げられて、いろいろな資料とともに展示されています。
海上保安庁との海上のバトルがリアルな映像で見ることができ、とても興味深かったです。お勧めです。‬

‪A fabulous display, featuring a little known tale of espionage‬

‪This wonderful little Museum will not be everyones cup of tea, however the story it tells is a drama worthy of Hollywood.
The museum holds the salvaged bullet riddled hulk of a North Korean Hot Rod fishing Vessel designed and built with one aim in mind to be inconspicuous whilst spying on Japan, it was fitted with four 1100 hp engines making it one hell of a fast fishing boat.
However on 22/12/2001 it came to the attention of the Japanese Coast Guard who started to track the Vessel, they repeatedly asked the vessel to stop but it refused, a chase ensued and eventually the Ship was sunk.
There is a lot more to this story and some very interesting artefacts to be viewed at the museum, the effort the north Koreans put into this boat is incredible, the JCG Museum is well worth a visit located near the Red Brick Market Precinct.‬
