Frontage construction made the entrance difficult to discover, but our red taxi driver, who was extremely kind and helpful, led us straight to the door; otherwise, we wouldn't have been able to go in. An incredible sight that is well worth the trip and may be the only one you ever witness!

A short tour to see this fully mirror-decorated temple..surprising inside the temple was so cooling compared to the after-hot sun outside. Just the road entry to the temple was a bit misleading.

An iconic Hindu temple that stands out from others for its shimmering beauty, both figuratively and literally. As the first ever glass temple in the world, this shrine has gone from being just a place of worship to a must-see attraction. Shining in all its splendor. The Temple is one of the oldest Hindu temples in Johor. Founded in 1922, the temple has seen some pretty drastic changes in its history. It began as a humble retreat donated by the Sultan of Johor, and was later rebuilt as a simple temple by Guru Bhagawan Sittar. It was only during a trip to Bangkok, Thailand that the Guru had the idea to renovate the inherited temple into its current dazzling grandeur. He had come across a glass work of art at the entrance to a wat in Thailand and was completely entranced by the invention. Impressed by how the small work of art was able to capture his attention even from afar, the Guru was inspired to use the concept of glass designs in his temple. Today, the Glass Temple looks just like any other Hindu temple from the outside. But inside you will be dazzled by the spectacle of its internal walls. Nearly every inch of the temple's surface is inlaid with glass mosaics: over 300,000 pieces of red, blue, yellow, green, purple, and white glass, to be precise. Spot columns, walls and ceilings fully embellished with sparkling mosaic glass - said to be imported from Japan, Belgium and Thailand - create a festival of bewitching lights. At the Athma Lingam Shrine, inside the fully air-conditioned temple, there are also 300,000 mukhi Rudraksha beads from Nepal gracing the walls. Every single rosary has been meticulously incorporated with the chanting of prayers. The centerpiece of this special shrine is a lotus for Lord Shiva, where devotees can perform their prayers and rituals. Looking up at the ceilings, you find majestic crystal chandeliers adding to the already glittering interior – a truly enchanting sight. Along the lower sections of the ceiling, there are ten sculptures finished in gold, each figurine representing different stages of the life cycle. As a symbol of respect for other religions, this Hindu temple has 10 white marble statues representing figures from different religions, including depictions of Gautama Buddha, Jesus Christ and Mother Teresa.

Disgraceful place. Not a place of worship but rather a money making tourist centre. As a non Indian Hindu not only was I discriminated, I was even told by the priest that because he assumed I’m not a local, I have to pay a RM10 tourist fees! Sad to say but Maa Kali no longer resides in such a place nor does she condone such practices. There are so many other more welcoming Hindu temples in Johor than this scam of a place!

It's not particularly spacious, but the inside is beautiful with lots of glass or mirrors on the walls, and I was overwhelmed. It was great. It seems you can do sightseeing in the morning.

Amazing... what more can I say? We showed up when they were closed but the son of the founder was onsite with workers renovating parts of the temple. He graciously took us on a private tour of this incredible temple. When we had finished they not only advised us on an incredible Indian restaurant nearby, but they also offered to drive us the short distance to it as they said it would be easier than getting a car there to pick us up. Dont miss this one.

This temple is under renovations and was closed. Not much to see or experience. Perhaps when all is completed it will provide a more interesting and historical experience.

You can google for its location. It will tell you the operational time. No entrance fee required but need to take off shoes before going in and there's a fee charged to look after your shoes.

Hi,
You can visit the temple after lunch. We went there around 6:30 / 7pm, stayed for about 40min.
Some reviews mention an entrance fee for Foreigners (RM10), however I was not charged anything and I am not Malaysian (or probably because I am from South India).
But I did pay RM3 for taking photos, and RM0.5 for the shoe rack. To take videos, pay RM5.

i need to know how much is the entrance fees and tel.where is the place location? tq
كُتب بتاريخ 30 سبتمبر 2016
Hi, there is no entrance fee. However they charge for taking photographs inside the temple ( except the sanctum sanatorium- garbha graham) with mobile/SLR cameras.
Use waze to find the location. It is off from the main road. It is on the opposite side of Chakra restaurant. Hope this helps

Hi! We are also planning to visit the glass temple after we go to Legoland. I saw that for the foreigners visitation hours are only from 1PM- 5PM. I'm just wondering if we can still take photos during prayer time (7PM - 10PM)? Because I think we can't make it to the glass temple before 5PM. Thank you so much!
