‪We were there on sat and sun. There’s sat night market from 530pm till about 930pm when stalls start to close. Food was the main attraction. It smelled good when u r there. We bought chicken rice (RM6 per packet) and huge samosa (Rm1 per piece). All tasted so good. It’s at UTC carpark near the stadium. There’s a Sunday market at the same locations with some repeat vendors from sat. But we didn’t go on sun so could not say more. ‬

‪Shop till you drop and then eat yourself silly! Fried chicken, nasi campur, desserts galore. Everything I remember from my childhood.‬

‪You get to walk and watch the view by the riverside. And indulge yourself in foods. Please take care of the cleanliness and throw your trash in the rubbish bin.‬

‪This market is open 7 days a week at different location, and for Sunday it’s at the riverside, Taman Gelora. It’s popular with the local with good variety of local snacks and food.

Interesting to see a mobile musolla to facilitate prayers. ‬

‪Like most night markets, there are plenty of fake goods and mobile phone accessories, but this market on Saturday night has great food.

Don't be shy and eat like the locals, there is something for everyone!‬

‪Another excellent market to visit is the pasar tani (farmers market) on sunday mornings at the UTC carpark near the stadium in town.

It starts at around 6.30-7.00am and runs up till around 1.00pm.

You can find fresh produce (fish, chicken, meat, vegetables, fruits), cooked local food (ready to be eaten), clothes, craft, trinklets etc.

Worth roaming for an hour or two. Suitable for children but hold on to them because it can get very crowded.

To really know a place and its people, visit a market. This is THE market to visit in kuantan.‬

‪Although this listing is for the riverside night market, I am actually going to write about a few of the bigger night markets in Kuantan. A night market or `pasar malam' is a street market (a street is actually closed off to vehicles for the evening, and stalls are set up on the street itself) which starts at around 4.30pm and runs till around 10pm.

There are different locations around Kuantan:
1. Riverside (near Taman Gelora) on Sundays
2. UTC car park in the middle of town (near the stadium) on Saturdays
3. Indera Mahkota 2, behind the Tengku Ampuan Afzan mosque on Fridays

The stalls sell mainly food & beverages. Many are prepared and cooked on site, so even if you don't want to buy food, it'll be interesting enough to observe and to take colourful photos. But really......you can't possibly be going to a night market without trying the food! There are various types of rice - nasi kerabu, nasi minyak, nasi berlauk, nasi ayam. Various types of noodles - fried noodles, laksa, noodles with soup. Various types of local cakes or kueh. Various beverages - sugarcane, soya bean milk, coconut water, and even ice-blended mocha!

Besides food and drinks, there are a few stalls selling raw cooking items like fresh vegetables, fish, chicken and also food stalls.

Whenever i travel, I try to go to a local market. It tells a lot about the people in that place. So definitely try visiting a pasar malam in kuantan. I personally prefer the one in Indera Mahkota 2. There is a bus from town that stops at the Tengku Ampuan Afzan mosque. I think it's the number 301. You can get off there and it's a short stroll away.‬
