Il principale tempio buddista a George Town, deve la sua notorietà al fatto di avere al suo interno la statua di un Buddha disteso che è la più lunga al mondo. Al suo interno anche numerose urne cinerarie. Merita una visita

Fascinating to compere this temple to the Burmese one across the road. Both are stunning and this one has an enormous reclining Buddha. Very colourful and a great place to visit and quite a contrast to the Burmese temple.

This place is just WOW! It has history, charm and sense of belonging. You feel at peace a soon as you enter the place, amazing statues. A must see. Take your time and enjoy what’s on offer.

It's well worth a visit to this beautiful, peaceful Thai Temple in Georgetown, Penang. The colours and architecture are stunning with the most stunning being the size of the reclining Buddha. The mosaic dragons and other statues are also impressive.
The traditional achitecture of the temple stands out so vividly against the background of the town's tall, glass buildings.

Es ist der älteste malaysische siamesische Tempel im Staat – seit 1845. Man sollte diesen und den direkt gegenüberliegenden einzigen und damit ältesten burmesischen Tempel besuchen.

The golden Buddha reclining in leisure pose is a sight to behold. The approx 100ft length. The feet soles are engraved with scriptures. The complex has multiple temple structures and statues. Just can't get enough of them, beautiful-calm-carved sculptures. Gold & hues of gold

I've been here before, and yet I'm inclined to visit again. For whatever reason, I'm unsure of - but whenever I do visit (perhaps when I happen to be nearby the area), there's always a cool and calming vibe to the place. And the area is large enough to accommodate big crowds (which doesn't happen often). Be sure to visit the temple just in front of here, as well.

We found this site more interesting than the other temples we visited. Technically a mass burial site, it was great history and some interesting architecture.

A magnificent Siamese Buddhist temple. The main shrine houses a 108 feet Sleeping Buddha. There are smaller shrines around the main shrine for Buddha, Guan Yin Goddess of Mercy and The 4 Faced Buddha. Great place to visit to learn and enjoy tranquility.

Sorry for the delay traveling in Thailand at the moment - No the free bus does not go as far out from the town Center - There is a paid for Hop on Hop off open bus tour that takes in this site (worth the visit by the way)
