‪L hôtel aurais besoin d un coup de rénovation. Et puis ce faire crier dessus par le gardien des notre arrivée, je trouve cela moyen. Je peut comprendre qu il soit excéder du nombre de personne qui veulent visiter le lieu. Il y a des effort à faire au niveau personnel et des coup de peinture à mettre sur les murs‬

‪A Must See!‬

‪Terry ran a great tour. On top of viewing and understanding the wonderful history of the building, it was also nice to hear about the history of the man, Cheong Fatt Tze, who built the house. The tour took around 45 minutes, and I would highly recommend the guided tour over self-guided tour (same price). Maximum of 50 people on the guided tour. Some tickets are left for walk-ins, though, but best to reserve ahead.‬

‪Visite guidée superflue‬

‪Pas besoin de faire la visite guidée. On entend très mal et le fort accent en anglais de la guide rend la compréhension difficile. Peu de choses à voir. Même si la résidence est très bien restaurée et a du caractère. ‬

‪A must visit place in Georgetown‬

‪I went for a tour with a guide Sally. Unlike some other guided tours that I experienced, this one was very well structured, knowledgeable and insightful. It was interesting to learn about Cheong Fatt Tze, his life and family, and of course history of the mansion. This tour inspired me to read more about this man and his life. Thank you, Sally, for the very interesting tour and well spent time.‬

‪Waste of time and money‬

‪In the dictionary, they should put a picture of this place for the definition of tourist trap.
Don’t waste your time or money. The place needs to decide if they wish to be a hotel or a tourist attraction. Have to pay an entry fee then more than half the grounds of limits due to not been a guest at the hotel. Place is also a bit rundown. They must had given the place a good scrub down to film those movies (Crazy Rich Asians, etc.) Avoid this place and save your time and money.‬

We understand that the guided tour is not everyone’s cup of tea in terms of learning about the history, architecture and restoration of the mansion, thus we would suggest instead a visit to dine at Indigo, a drink at our Bar or even staying with us – this will give you time to appreciate the mansion at your own pace. ‪Der Eintritt beträgt zurzeit 25 Ringit und dafür bekommt man so gut wie nichts zu sehen, da der Großteil des Gebäudes als Hotel genutzt wird und der Zutritt zu diesem gesperrt ist. Wir waren ohne geführte Tour in dem Gebäude, doch wie andere schrieben, kann man auch mit der Tour nicht in weitere Räumlichkeiten.
Deutlich empfehlenswerter ist das Pinang Peranakan Mansion, das für den gleichen Preis mehr zu bieten hat.‬

‪Très belle demeure ‬

‪La maison bleue, comme elle est surnommée ou Cheong Fatt Tze, du nom de son propriétaire, se situe en plein coeur du centre-ville, a deux pas du palace Eastern and Oriental hotel.

Il faut savoir que cette demeure sert d'hotel et de restaurant, donc seulement quelques pièces sont accessibles, à savoir le hall d'entrée, la cour intérieur, le balcon intérieur et une pièces où se trouve une exposition en lien avec le propriétaire du lieu.

Une exposition photo des quelques films qui ont été tournés dans cette villa se trouve au premier étage. Indochine, avec Catherine Deneuve y a été tourné, en partie. Quelques vitrines, un peu poussiéreuses, exposent des objets en lien avec le lieu.

La visite est payante et elle se fait en autonomie ou via un guide. Le prix est dérisoire. Il faut réserver un créneau en amont même s'il est possible d'acheter des billets sur place. Pas sûr que vous réussissiez à acheter des billets pour le jour même en haute saison puisque leur nombre est limité.
Une fois les billets achetés, il faut passer le contrôle à l'entrée sud, même si ce n'est pas vraiment très clair quand l'on arrive à la maison bleue.

Malgré le fait que l'on ne visite qu'une toute petite partie, il est clair que l'endroit vaut le coup, ne serait-ce que pour contempler la magnifique restructuration de l'endroit sachant qu'en 1990 l'endroit n'avait pas du tout la même apparence...

Un endroit qui laisse un peu sur sa faim mais qui mérite toutefois une rapide visite si vous êtes dans le coin et que vous avez le temps. 45 minutes sont suffisantes.

‪Hardly worth the effort‬

‪This place needs to decide whether it wants to be a tourist attraction or a hotel. Currently it fails as a half-hearted tourist attraction with the poor guests on display like zoo animals. Give this a miss & go to the green house. This place is blue because it’s so SAD‬

While many guests love the information and anecdotes shared by our guides, we understand that others do prefer to experience the mansion at their leisure – though this is of course limited as we try and preserve the privacy of our hotel guests. ‪My friends and I had a great time at the Blue Mansion. Selva was great, as he helped out while we were on a self guided tour, and gave us extra facts that were amazing! The hospitality was amazing and would definitely come again!‬
