The view of the sea from this museum is magnificent. and the museum is full of sea man stories and traditional life in the small town of Sur with a rich history and lineage of building strong traditional dhows and boats that are still used for fishing as well as sea transport to various countries.

Wir sind zufällig auf das Museum gestoßen, da, wir allzuoft im Oman, die Beschilderung nicht eindeutig ist.
Im Aussenbereich verwittern zwar mehrere Boote, aber das Museum selbst ist didaktisch klasse gemacht und transportiert die Geschichte des Omans als Seefahrervolk sehr gut. Empfehlenswert ist die Videoinstallation, von O-Tönen und über den kulturellen Austausch als auch Einfluss mit / durch Indien, Afrika.

A little difficult to find as there are no signs indicating the it was the Maritime Museum. It is a new building, not very large, but the historical contents were interesting - worth hunting out. It has an adjacent car park

Nice and informative Museum about Omans marine history. Most interesting is the Dhau outside. All on display inside is quite simple and not of high historic value.

C'est la boutre qui a rallié l'Afrique pour la 1ère fois qui est exposée dans la cour du musée : rien de plus... l'appendice au dessus de l'eau comme toilette est assez surprenant et marrant

The museum wass closed, but from outside it was possible to see and make great picture of the boats in the garden.

Great to wonder amongst different types of wooden boats and dhows and to observe their construction. Small indoor museum selling a few wooden crafted pieces.

Avuta l'occasione di visitare un cantiere dove ancora oggi si realizzano barche tipiche (dhows) in legno. Vengono richieste ormai solo da privati, per usi di rappresentanza, non più da pescatori. In costruzione uno scafo di oltre 45 metri, tutto in legno, prevalentemente teak, maestranze indiane. La costruzione può durare anni, tutti pezzi unici. Organizzazione, macchinari, e assetto generale del cantiere lontanissimo dagli standard occidentali, resta comunque un ambiente affascinante. Per chi ama le barche una visita irrinunciabile.

Une très belle demeure abrite le musée. Elle est en rénovation et ne peut être visitée atuellement, mais la cour extérieure reste accessible avec plusieurs anciens dhows dont le très beau et très ancien dhow superbement restauré;
A voir en même tempsqe la dhow factory à quelques centaines de mètres.

Io e il mio ragazzo siamo stati al piccolo museo per ingannare il tempo durante la permanenza a sur (mi raccomando non fermatevi troppo in questa cittadina!). Il museo è un vero e proprio cantiere, ma credo vista l'affluenza di turisti è stato inserito da settembre 2019 il biglietto (mi sembra di ricordare 1 OMR a persona). Si possono osservare i falegnami che lavorano alle tipiche imbarcazioni e c'è una piccola stanza adibita a negozietto di souvenir. Noi siamo rimasti giusto 20 minuti.. nulla di speciale ma carino da vedere al volo.. si aiutano gli artigiani pagando il piccolo prezzo del biglietto.

Not sure. Friday is a holy day in most Muslim countries, so it maybe closed? There are a number of dhows and boats on display in the open, which you can see from the pavement. There are a number of dhow builders on the estuary and these can be visited.
