It's not crowded, but I don't know if it's worth the effort to see the church. Those who think it is worth seeing can come..

The cross is cool but no more than a few minutes are needed. There are questions if this is the original cross or of the original is encased inside this one but it is still cool to visit. Lots of other sites to see in the area. It is near pier one so have a look if in the area.

Magellan's Cross in Cebu City was officially declared a National Cultural Treasure of the Philippines. Historically, It signifies the point in time which europeans and thus Christianity successfully set foot in the country. The expedition undertaken by the explorer Ferdinand Magellan set a wooden cross on this very site in 1521 and is considered as the birthplace of Christianity in the Philippines. More than anything, visiting Magellan's Cross is essentially visiting history. It is adjacent to the Basilica Minore del Sto. Nino de Cebu which was founded in 1565. Both attractions are free and located close to the oldest street in the Philippines, Colon Street.

Very little interesting, can be fine dropped.
There are better and more interesting places in Cebu to visit. This may be of interest to people who are religiously interested, but if it is not you you can fine steer away.

See if we can get around. The ceiling is really pretty to admire with his paintings. Otherwise the place where the cross is also pretty.

The wooden cross Magellan brought here to propagate Christianity is Magellan Cross. It hangs in the center of the octagon, but the outer part of the cross is apparently a reproduction. The building is not large, and anyone can enter and observe it for free. The ceiling of the octagon was also lovely. Adjacent is the church of Santo Niño dedicated to the statue of the young Christ (San To Niño), also presented by Magellan to the Queen of Cebu at the time, so I think you should go with that.

According to history, this place is home to the Magellan Cross. When Ferdinand Magellan arrived in Cebu in 1521, a mass was said and a cross was erected. Tradition has it that this cross is, others say it is a replica. But it is a place very visited by Filipinos, as the country has a lot of Catholics.

If you are in the area I would stop by to see it but I would not go out of my way to visit this. The area in indundated with beggars that harass you and touch you.
It's a cross in a gazebo and it is very meanginful to the Filipino people but other than that not much to see. As previously stated only would add this to the local church visit.

Wouldn't say it's a must see for tourists, clearly has significance to the Philipine people but for a foreigner wouldn't go out of my way to see.
If in the area around the fort, then go and have a look as it's only about 5-minute walk from there.

The other day, I took a solo trip overseas for the first time in a while☺
I went to Cebu, where I went with my family when I was a child! !
On the third day, we visited Magellan's Cross and Santorinho Church!(^^)!
The cross was built in 1521 by Magellan, the first person in history to circumnavigate the world, to spread Christianity, and the octagonal hall was built in 1834.
Even now, most people in the Philippines are Christians.
We had a great time experiencing history first hand!

We are travelling to cebu on a tight budget..can anyone help us know how and where to ride jeepney from airport to cebu city, from cebu city to taoism temple and simala shrine?Thank you so much..

The bus to the city centre costs 50 pesos and terminates at the bus centre. An average jeeoney cost 8 pesos but you have to check where they going as they are always on the move and each one goes to different places. The letters at the end correspond for example if the jeeoneybhas a c at the end it means it will go to colon Street. My best advise if there is a restriction, is to hrie a taxi for a day. I walked in the street a taxi driver negotiated with me 1500 for the day, so for two or more people it might be worth it to just be stress free jumping into various jeppneys hoping it's going the right way. My hostel told me which jeepneys to get, so you can always ask at reception. 12L goes to the ayala mall, 4c goes down jarkouslem Street.
