This is tucked away down a side street but worth a visit if you can find it.There is a lot of history in the building so you can take a while here or be quite quick if you don't want to look at the personal effects in too much detail.

I was not impressed when we stopped here! Outside, it seemed dirty and not well maintained.
Inside: Personal stuffs on display such as desk used by VP Lopez, pictures, bedroom, dining room, kitchen w/o appliances, etc.
Entrance fee is 50 pesos per person.
Needs major cleaning and dusting up here!

Wanna learn about a supposed arranged marriage that was ditched by Mariquit for her one true love? Visit this place and be enthralled as the guide retells the story of Mariquit and her husband, the then Vice President of the Philippines, Fernando Lopez Sr.
Their antique possessions are still preseved, including their shoes, telephones, bags, cameras, and more. You can sit down in the living room for all the time you want and look at their photo albums. Find and be amazed of the portrait of the couple whose eyes seems to follow you wherever you go.
Pay an extra tip to the guide for beautiful photos. There’s an ample parking space at the back. No food is served though, just plain tour of the house with minimal entrance fee.
No need to reserve or set an appointment in visiting.

When we reached the place we were bit hesitant to enter, no one in it, the house was closed and a bit creepy. The neighborhood inform us to just call the caretaker. When we enter the house you will be amazed. All the memorabilia of Fernando Lopez, the former Vice President of the Philippines and his wife Mariquit was still there even the bed with "kulambo" was still there. The minimal entrance fee which is P 50.00 was worth it to know some history of the house and the love story of Fernando and Mariquit.

One of the oldest heritage houses in Santa Isabel St., Jaro, Iloilo City, Casa Mariquit was built in 1803 by a banker, Ramon Javellana. Then, it became the home of his granddaughter, Mariquit, and her husband Fernando Lopez who also served as the Vice President of the Philippines in the 1950’s.
This is where you can find the old El Filibusterismo book by Dr. Jose Rizal.
You can already tour the house and take photos with the old arts and crafts with your Php 50.00. The house is good for photo ops with old Spanish Era themes.

This Casa Mariquit I visited on 18 May 2019 is now a very run down place. It don't seem to be well maintained. It is a private museum. Not much to be seen and guide could not speak much English.

It's the oldest heritage house in Iloilo City and gives you a glimpse into the lifestyle of the "ilustrados" of the late 19th century. It also happens to be the residence of one of the former Vice Presidents of the Philippines. If well preserved, a visit to this house could complement a lot of the info schools teach about Philippine history shortly before the country's independence from Spain. As to local tourism, I see a considerable potential for this place. They just have to work on its structural preservation, provide well informed tour guides, and arrange organized visits to the place. Who knows some rooms of it may be opened for accommodation?
Is this open on Sundays? Thank you.

Sorry but I don't have their contact number. We just went to the place early in the morning and called out to whoever was inside (the caretaker, apparently) and we were warmly accommodated. Try visiting it. It's a house rich in history and the caretaker gives a great commentary of the things inside.
