I had limited time available to visit a few spots in Yunnan (Lijiang and Dali) and although there was no Pacha Mama trip planned that matched my availability,
Definitely the way to experience China! Lukas arranged the flights, driver, quaint hotels in unique locations, close the many attractions and provided customized options for places to visit.
We managed to maximize our trip without wasting time to find the "hidden gems". During the trip Lukas's assistance was great and it felt like having a personal tour guide.
In the 4.5 days, we did many major attractions including a visit and hike in the Tiger Leaping Gorge, Shuhe and Lijiang old towns, the Buddist temple and three pagodas in Dali, cycling around Erhai Lake and the cable car up the mountain in Dali to enjoy the full aerial view of the lake and the city.
The driver arranged for our trip to the Tiger Leaping Gorge, knew the exact spot to drop us off to start the hike and the pick up spot at the end of the hike. I doubt I would have been able to find the spot on my own and saw alot of other tourists spending most of their time and effort getting to the start of the hiking spot. Our 3 hour hike was in a panoramic spots of the trail.
At the last minute we wanted to cycle around Erhai Lake in Dali and Lukas arranged to have bicycles delivered to our hotel early the next morning.

The trip to Detian Waterfall in southern Guangxi was amazing. Jack helped immensely at the border checkpoints and the hotel and food were exceptional. The bike ride around the village is a definite highlight with just enough activity and relaxation.

With just a few others I went on the Hunan adventure (Zhangjiajie) in early July 2022.
The tour was led by Jack who was, IMO, everything you would hope a guide would be. Friendly, knowledgeable, caring - you name it, he was it. Jack should create a tour guide training school so everyone can appreciate what constitutes a superb guide.
It was tough, lots of hiking, but thoroughly enjoyable nonetheless.
I would urge you to try a Pacha Mama trip, utterly peerless. It was like travelling with an old friend who knew the area and bent over backwards to make sure you enjoyed yourself as much as possible (and I did, thanks Jack).
I look forward to trying more trips in the future and sincerely hope Pacha Mama branch out all over Asia.

PachaMama 的路线设计太棒了，3天时间同时体验了桂林丹霞地貌和梯田，我最难忘的是半路跳进小瀑布，啊哈哈哈～ 除了惊艳的景色，还能认识一群有趣的人，饭后微醺畅聊，非常有趣，游戏和笑声伴随着整个旅程。

It was a fantastic trip on their Silk Road part 2 journey with a wonderful group on my third trip with Pacha Mama. I learned a lot of French and the first thing I did when I got back was eat lots of cheese and form a worker's union.
I've lived in China for 10 years and speak some Chinese but if I don't have time to plan a trip myself I turn to Pacha Mama in a heartbeat. They have everything right in terms of caring for their customers, having true values and knowing the right balance between adventure and some decent level of comfort in the itinerary.
They communicate well and are well organised. The trip leaders will help you with anything if you ask. Customers should keep in mind China is not a black and white country to travel in, things are changeable and often not straightforward. Pacha Mama works really hard behind the scenes to offer the travel experience that 'Westerners' hope for in this wonderful country.

In the past year, I've been on four Pachamama trips, and I hope to be going on their upcoming Silk Road adventure in August (2021). I'm not normally one for group tours, but I can't recommend them enough! Hiking and other outdoor activities are often the focus, but they also direct the group to excellent food and take care of all the transit and accommodation issues, which can be SO difficult for visitors to
China...especially in these difficult Covid times. Excellent trips with great people. No better way to travel in China.

Lots of beautiful hikes—be prepared to walk! Pachamama tour leaders do their best with timing and pacing to consider the queuing/peak times/time needed for exploration at different sites. A good mix between must-see 5A sites and less-crowded off-the-beaten-path attractions. With ever-changing COVID restrictions that can vary from province to province (especially for us foreigners traveling from Guangdong), Pachamama made it possible and comfortable for me to travel around China this summer.

Since arriving in China, I have usually either travelled with my partner or by myself. But for Golden Week 2020, when I knew people wouldn't have the option of traveling abroad, the thought of trying to explore a remote village in Guizhou by *myself* whilst simultaneously avoiding crowded public transportation was, to be honest, nauseatingly anxiety-inducing.
By chance, I saw an ad for Pacha Mama on Wechat, and a little reading assured me this is what I needed: all logistics arranged or clearly explained (e.g. which train tickets to buy), a bilingual guide, remote location, and leaving on the second day of the holiday.
The two nights I spent in tiny, charming 晚寨村 were so lovely, for three clear reasons:
1) The local people and the setting
2) The diverse yet all-round fabulous group of people who joined the tour
3) Our tour leader, Lukas - not only was he level-headed and practical when it came to troubleshooting (The path to the waterfall is blocked? Find another route), he showed a genuine interest in all tour guests. "Yeah yeah", I hear you think to yourself, "that's what tour leaders are supposed to do." That's absolutely true, but Lukas' care, attention and interest in everyone can only be described succinctly in this way: genuine. Plus, he has lots of fun stories that mostly don't involve being rescued by helicopters, so, I felt I was in safe hands.
I'll be watching with interest to see which future tours are also a good match for me.

I have been on two trips with Pacha Mama and, while I’m in China, I hope to go on several more. Recently I went with a group to Wanzhai in Guizhou. We stayed in a remote village, received an amazing welcome from the locals, walked to and swam in beautiful waterfalls and hiked through golden rice terraces. Lukas, our tour leader, is so friendly, well organized, adaptable and enthusiastic. He clearly loves sharing these unique cultural and natural world experiences. This is a great way to see off the beaten track China.

We went on the 2 nights stay in WanZhai village in Guizhou, our first trip with Pacha Mama Adventures (we'll definitely do another!).
It was such a special trip: we loved the beautiful views and hiking through the surrounding rice terraces in cool fresh air, and the local people gave us such a warm welcome, even preparing birthday cakes for 4 guests who were celebrating their birthdays! We've lived in China for eight years and this is one of our top experiences. Thank you Lukas, thank you to the Dong people ❤️
