The Metro Line 1 goes to the Hangzhou Railway Station, which services the high speed trains to such places as Shanghai, as well as to Nanjing South Station (both of which are not much more than an hour travel time). This railway station is, like most of northeast China's railway stations, huge, busy and yet quite efficient. There are a couple of unique "oddities" here, one of which is a toilet paper dispenser in the women's bathroom where, if you stand in front of it for 3 seconds and allow its camera to focus on your face, it dispenses several sheets of free toilet paper (I usually carry my own since most bathrooms in China do NOT provide toilet paper). The second little sight are 6 Mickey Mouse statues, each painted with a different theme and color scheme. Kids probably love it. Like all railway stations, it is best if you arrive here 45 minutes to an hour before your departure time and, as crowded as it may seem, the gate attendant at your platform is incredibly efficient at getting all passengers onto the lower train platforms.

If you are in Hangzhou, and do not feel like dealing with DiDi (Chinese Uber basically) or catching a bus or taxi, subway is your option. It is fast, punctual, cheap, and will take to to all the tourist places. Can also download Hangzhou metro app from PlayStore (maybe apple store as well). You can use AliPay, unionpay card, or buy ticket with cash.

After frustrating attempts to flag down a taxi to take us back to our hotel, we decided to walk to a close by subway station (Ding An) to take Metro 1 instead. It was a surprisingly impressive experience. There is a quick security check (similar to museum bag check) at entrance. The subway station is clean and there is a public restroom. Getting tickets is easy using the kiosk in English. Signage/ direction is good as well. Train cars are clean with map of stations illuminated.

日本と違って荷物検査があります。さらに混んでいますので、時間に余裕をもって行動してください。持ち物によっては入場拒否されますのでご注意を（土産物の何かがひっかかって止められていた人あり）。

one of the nest subway in the world I know. well managed and well kept. great security and free of beggars and illegal immigrants and pickpocketers like in Europe. In Rome, London, Paris is a disgrace the subway

The subway is cheap, clean and wasn't crowded when we traveled outside of rush hours. If you have Alipay, it says you can swipe at the gate instead of buying tickets. Otherwise we got tickets at the machine no problem. In 1-2 years there will be metro connecting the airport to the city.

Took the subway to Paradize Walk from Xixing to Jinshahu. A long distance away on 7 RMB for so many stops. To my surprise, cheap way to travel. Every stops announcement in english and mandarin. Train is clean and the aircon ventilation is strong.

杭州の地下鉄はあまり観光スポットに近い場所の駅がありませんが、西湖の脇と武林広場を通るので、空港バスを使う場合に便利です。

杭州地下鉄には、1日票（15元）と3日票（40元）があります。西湖を中心に観光するだけなら必要ありませんが、あちこち歩きまわる時には便利です。
私は１，２，４号線のほとんど端から端まで乗ってみましたが、地上を走るのは1号線の喬司駅より北方面だけでした。駅名から検討をつけて、適当な駅で降りてみたのですが、今回その中でよかったのは潘水駅で、すぐ近くの南江公園がお勧めです。ただ、郊外は概して古い町並みというよりは、開発中の街が多かったです。
