In a nutshell, I think it was a "relaxed stage."
I will leave out the details, but adults will value the philosophical element,
Kids use their imagination to wonder what happened after this.
The cospa is also cheaper than other stage productions, and you can enjoy a lot of powerful gimmicks that only a dedicated theater can do.
I was glad to see the play.

We didn't know what to expect and what a treat!! It was non stop fun and excitement. Our teens were even pleasantly surprised at how much they enjoyed it. Small venue, no bad seats. Really talented cast and a great way to spend a couple of hours doing something unique while in Kyoto! Definitely recommend!

This show is way to good for a show that is as hidden as it is. A diamond in the ruff.
Gear is super captivating, and as I european I love the fact that it is non verbal and still easy to follow along.
The Performers where masterclass level, and the set design and lighting felt like Broadway level.
A little hard to find. But a show you simply can not miss. The hightlight of our trip to Kyoto!

We were blown away by this production. We worried about our (very) young children getting bored, but there was no chance of that. They were captivated throughout. Stop reading reviews and book - you won't be disappointed!
p.s. We had no idea what the show was about and I believe that added to experience.

Cute and fun. The actors are really good and really good dancers. It was entertaining and original. A unique experience in Kyoto.

the most inventive, curious, and emotionally surprising live performance i have ever been to. do NOT leave Kyoto without seeing this. 6/5 stars

Loved every minute of this show.
The theatre is small so you get a great close up view of the performance and the performers facial expressions which are important to the show. The performers interacted with the audience and conveyed humour with out the need for speech. Very clever. Expressive
Loved the set which had a steampunk vibe - with sound and dry ice effects and a moving stage.

I think they put a lot of planning and effort into the production, which is indeed really cool in terms of the effects, the use of lighting and sound, but for me the plot was quite boring and sexist. It made it hard for me to enjoy the the show.

Really good show. We wanted to experience some contemporary art of kyoto and this fit the bill. Very skilled performers, interesting show and premise. We had a great time

I never write reviews, but felt compelled to do so for GEAR Theatre. The performance was excellent -- easily one of the highlights of our 16 day trip across Japan. Highly recommend!

Hello! Does the script or storyline for Gear change periodically? I really enjoyed it the last time, but I am curious how often the play is changed?

The story remains the same.But there are 4500 cast combinations.
The skill is different,and there is a slight change in production every day.So the stage can be enjoyed no matter how many times you see it.

Do you know if this show will play in 2020? I see that tickets are only available through June 2019?

We will continue to perform as much as we can get popular. However, the performance plan for 2020 is undecided.
Tickets for the July-September performances will be available from 10 am on March 28th.
I look forward to seeing you someday in the theater.

Hello! I purchased a ticket for the 19:00 show on January 28 online. I forgot to save my confirmation number and have not received any email for my ticket. Do I pick it up at the box office?

I see that seats are assigned from the center out. Are they assigned at the time of purchase or when you get to the theater?
We have purchased two seats for March 29, 2019 @14:00.
