‪My husband went to Kyoto and bought this sencha - green tea for me. He was so excited because it was very expensive and should have been very good taste...I was EXTREMELY DISSAPOINTED. As a native Japanese, I have known Japanese tea for all my life. It was really really BAD, and OLD WITH NO FLAVOR. He went mid April 2023 and expiry was Sep 2023. For Japanese tea, its no way to have less than 6 months expiry. The tea he was handed must be for last year's left over. I was convinced that the shop sold him some old bad quality tea INTENTIONALLY, for they thought he would not understand. Really TERRIBLE AND UNBELIEVABLE... It's a scam. I am so ashamed as a Japanese...

‪A word of warning from July 2023. When we visited the shop was undergoing a major refit & they were running a “pop up” operation around the corner. If its still undergoing refit visit the store at Kyoto Railway station which had a much better offer. ‬

‪They have a small bar where you can choose premium green tea types alongside matcha. There’s usually a wait so be prepared to wait around 20 mins before seating. The teas offered are absolutely unique and amazing with the flavors for each steep. Don’t forgot to bring some home for gifts and having your own authentic green tea!‬

‪The kind of tea room I was looking for‬

‪There are several "tea experiences" in Kyoto and Tokyo that offer a more involved tea tasting experience at a higher price, but I was looking for a tea room like this one where it's easy to order pots of different tea to enjoy at your own leisure.

In the tea room, they perform the first steep for you and then allow you to handle the remaining steeps yourself. The size of pour is good for drinking without being overly concentrated. It's a peaceful space with a nice garden in the back.

The tea store offers many different sizes and options for purchasing loose leaf and pouch teas. The prices in the store are much less than on their international websites. They also sell an exclusive sencha.‬

お茶が買えるお店です。

店舗内に喫茶があり、お茶をいただけます。

店員さんも対応がよく美味しいお茶がいただけました。

高級なお茶もあります。

京都にきたら訪問すべきお店だと思います。‬
