When I rented a car and traveled to Saga and Nagasaki, I parked my car in the parking lot of Heiwa Park in the morning and purchased and used a one-day pass at the reception desk of the parking lot by the nearest rugby field. Start with lunch at Shihairou, then explore the city. After visiting Chinatown, Bunmeido Main Store, Megane-bashi Bridge and commercial facilities around Dejima such as UNIQLO, we returned to Peace Park and enjoyed a half-day stroll by tram.

I used it when Matsu moved from Dejima Oran Trading House to Eda International Terminal.
The station took the train from Shinchi Chinatown to Ishibashi Station to Oura Cathedral Station.
Shinchi Chinatown Station is a branching station and you need to be careful where you go.
The front of the platform is for Sofukuji, and the rear is for Ishibashi.
Trains come frequently, not to mention the timetable.
With Suica, the fare was 100 yen.
It's cheaper than the bus.

If you want to go sightseeing in Nagasaki, you must use the tram. Tourist attractions to visit have nearby stops to make good use of time. Transportation IC cards can also be used to avoid paying cash. Because it covers the city, there is no traffic jam.

In 2021, the price was raised to 140 yen per ride. When I came to Nagasaki, I used a one-day pass. It is a paper type with a stamped date and the route map is also together. One-day passes can be purchased at tourist information at Nagasaki Station, major hotels, and Matsuyamacho parking lot.
In principle, get off from the side of the driver in the back. There are new low-step vehicles, but they are also doing their best more than 50 years after they were built.

The 600 yen "one-day pass" sold at hotel front desks etc. is a great deal.
No matter how much you ride, it's only 600 yen a day. I've traveled all over Japan, but I don't think there's any other public transportation system that's so cheap, has so many trains, and has such easy-to-follow routes. You can get around most tourist spots with just this. The fare of 140 yen per ride is already cheap.

Great tram system, cheap, reliable, and fun. Be prepared it can get extremely crowded but easy to use and an efficient way to get around.

There are 4 routes, so it's a good idea to get a route map in advance. It can be downloaded and is also available at tourist information centers.
A lot of locals also use it, so I think it's best to stay in front of the exit during busy times. One ride is 140 yen.
I used it for sightseeing and it was very convenient.
The distance between the tram stops is short, so you can probably walk 2 to 3 stations. I highly recommend this nostalgic streetcar.

When boarding or exiting from the rear or center door, there is only one door in the front. If you're sitting in the back seat, it's not easy to weave your way forward between people standing. I thought it would be smoother to open the door of the vehicle behind you when getting off the train.

Trams seem to be an endangered species in eastern Japan, but they are still a popular form of transportation for locals and tourists in Kyushu, including Kumamoto, Kagoshima, and here in Nagasaki. For tourists like me, it's convenient because you can use Suica and other national transportation electronic money.
This time, I rode it from Ishibashi to Meganebashi. It's nice and quaint to ride along the way, waiting for traffic lights and passengers to get on and off.

The nagasaki tram definitely one of the most simplest transportation possible in Japan, however to get the one day pass , its only possible to get it from web or app, so if you not too savvy about using the tech,
I would highly advise you ask assistant upon arriving your front desk. or the JR train customer service , they are so helpful.
Basically, the tram will get you go where ever you want, all the sight spot hasslel ess...

長崎電気軌道のさよなら運転つて「参加費はクレジットカード決済のみです。」とあるのですがクレジットカードをもってないともうしこみできないのですか？

ありがとうございました。申込だけして当選したらクレジットカードをつくるつもりでしたが申し込み時点でカード番号を入力するものでした。昔のwindowsではXMITを押すたびに「第３者に盗まれるのでクレジットカードの番号等は送らない方が安全」と灰色のメッセージがでたのですが今は送ってもセキユリテイが向上してるので安全なのですね。結局、今後長崎電気軌道は利用しない人生と決定しました。

After clearing customs, immigration and security go out the security exit and then into the port terminal (where you will go to reboard the ship). There is a desk in the terminal with all-day tram passes for $5US (that was the cost in March 2018). It is cash only and the cost is per person.
Other posts I read said hotel concierge desks might sell the tram passes too, but I can't verify that.
There is also a money exchange kiosk, exchange desk and small flea market in the terminal.

Did you go to the Peace Park and the Atomic Bomb Museum? Is it easy to find both of these places when you departed the tram? What tram did you board by the cruise terminal? What color was it's plaque? If you transferred, what tram did you catch.
How long did it take to reach the park or museum if you went there? Thank you so much. We are on a cruise to this port in March 2019

The tram stops right outside the cruise terminal, get your tram pass in the terminal, $5 for an all day pass, if my memory is correct it's tram number 3 then change to number 1. The driver will keep you right, you can't get lost, the tram will drop you down the street about 100 yards from the museum. The local people are extremely helpful and very polite. If I could just add one thing, you need to visit Glover Gardens. Go there on your way back to the ship, its straight across from the terminal up the hill, not even 5 minutes, the gardens and view are spectacular, have a wonderful cruise.

I am in Nagaski from 1pm until 8pm. Do you know the time the last bus/tram. I could not get this info. from the website. I look forward to hearing from anyone who knows this.

Tram car runs until 23:00 - 24:00, depending on the specific line and tram stop. Can’t paste url here, but it’s on their web site in Japanese.

There's a ticket desk in the ship's terminal building. Single ticket lasts all day so you can zip back & forth to your hearts content.
If you're going to the Peace Garden & Ground Zero its about a 5 minute walk to the correct stop + you have to change trams but it's extremely easy (crowded but politely so).
The ticket office will give you a smashing map of the tram network and they'll circle the stops you need.

Has anybody cruised to Nagasaki? I'm wondering where the cruise terminal is in relation to the public transport. All advice on day tours, hop on hop off buses gratefully received. Thanks

See the map of Nagasaki. When you stand in front of old HSBC building, you 'll see cruise ship dock a few hundred meters from you. Two team stops are within walking distance from there.

Very useful to have a map, prices are cheap so don't worries, and you can pay in cash (Yen only) direct to the driver. Japanese local people has some card passes but you won't need them. Just grab one and pay in the front. Each station is well indicated everywhere in the trams. To get on a tram just look for a station (are easy to identify because of the train rails) and take it, all the lines are well connected by connection stations well indicated on the map. Just do it!
