A great place to spend your weekend to learn new things about our natural history. The place is well-maintained, clean, and organized. The colletion is pretty decent although could be further improved by having more items on exhibit. The place was really good and comparable to museums abroad. A must visit for people of all ages.

Very pleasant surprise.
Well presented displays created with great care .
Interesting and varied .
Building and gardens beautifully maintained.
It hard to believe that there is no entrance fee.

The great tree like tower inside the museum is a photogenic place and very beautiful. The entry is free but you have to leave your big bags in the lock room and its safe. Great to know about the history of Philippines.

I was genuinely impressed with this museum. The exhibits were quite interesting, and they give a very good understanding of the flora and fauna of the Philippines. It is very easy to spend 1-2 hours here checking out everything.

Interesting internal architecture coupled with some interesting exhibits (say hello to the big Croc, you will know him when you see him) showing a wide variety of subjects. There is a lot to cover, not as much as the (main) National Museum, but something for everyone I would have thought. A good concentration on exhibits on creatures of the ocean.

Today was a fabulous day for me because I went on a tour of the National Museum of Natural History virtually. There are many segments to visit. For someone who is interested in the history of the earth, they will want to visit Deep Time. If someone is interested in sea-life, they will want to visit the Sant Ocean Hall and so on. But I like to visit the Objects of Wonder.
The name ‘The Objects of Wonder' attracted me to visit. It is an initiative started by the National Museum of Natural History to preserve the natural specimens and cultural artifacts for the future generation. The collections hail from all over the world with different routes: primarily from scientific assignment, some from private collectors and some from law enforcement agencies. These objects are treated as the Hart and Soul of the museum. There were a lot of objects which represent the different cultures of the different countries. Which helped me to understand the different civilizations.
There are so many interesting things showcased here that blew my mind.
We all ignore insects daily. But insects make up over two third of all described species of animals. And there are many more species still waiting to be discovered. There are about 500 specimens of insect species showcased here, which represent millions of insect species. So far, there are 5 million insect species known on the Earth.
The second thing is, the two fossils of the thigh bone. One belongs to the Earth's largest animal, which belongs to a dinosaur family, and the other belongs to the hummingbird (the smallest bird of the Earth). The size ratio of both the bones is 180:1. The interesting facts about these bones is they are closely related to each other. How amazing?
This tour was exceptional for me. It's very insightful for me. Thanks to the technology, who gave us the opportunity to visit virtually. Every student must have to take at least a virtual tour of this museum.

The National Museum of Natural History
Just reopened to public sometime in 2018, and i just had an opportunity to visit earlier this 2020.
They had reopened, and its really worth the visit.
Ive been to national musuem when i was in gradeschool and lets say thats about 30 yrs ago.
It was new look now plus the skeleton of lolong which is the longest crocodile in phils.
The museum looks moders now.
But still the history is there.
Every corner of every floor have its own story and history.
Its worth the visit though i loved the fine arts more than the national history. Just my opinion..
Free of entrance
8 to 4 pm admission if am not mistaken.

I admit that i preferred the National Museum of Anthropology over the Natural History. Still, it will be worth your while. The architectural design is nice and you definitely will find a lot of amazing things related to nature. If you're into Earth science then you definitely will love it.
It makes you sad too especially when you found out how some species are now extinct.
I just find this place to be filled with people who love pictorials. Those who are looking to change their social media profile pictures. Not really much into what this place can actually offer. It's the new normal i guess.
But i will still recommend this place. It's for free so you only have to worry about getting there.

This museum is part of the National Museum Complex, which also houses the National Museum of Fine Arts and the National Museum of Anthropology (see review). Here again, no entrance fee, but leave your backpack in storage (also free). The tree of life centrepiece in itself is worth a visit. Imposing, impressive and functional. Every floor offers a different aspect of fauna and flora. Exhibits have very good signage and range from mangroves to freshwater, wetlands and volcanoes. You can easily spend tow to three hours here, so you might as well combine this with a visit to the Museum of Anthropology. Located in the Rizal park, you can always get some relief from the museum and catch some sir. Highly recommended.

The museum was free of charge, and is close other museums in the area, so you can also visit other museums as well. The other government-funded museums were also free of charge. The museum is a repository of species that can be found in the Philippines, but there are plenty of them. In every floor and section of the museum, you’ll find different kinds of ecosystems where those species thrive. There was also a life-size model of Lolong, probably the world’s largest saltwater crocodile that has ever lived or captured.
There were few people when I visited and the building was spacious and had a cozy atmosphere. If you’re interested about species in the Philippines, it’s a great place to visit.
Some people mixes up this museum with the other museums. This museum is for appreciation of the different species and ecosystems in the Philippines. If you’re interested about Philippines’ ancient civilization and artifacts, then the National Museum would be the place to go; and for learning about the different ethnic groups in the Philippines, the Museum of Anthropology would be the place to visit.

Do all bags really need to be surrendered? Even small shoulder bags? Or camera bags?

Yes. They're quite strict with bags at the museum. Anyway, you may hand carry your cell phone and camera inside the museum.
