So happy to see that this amazing course is back in superb condition. Staff and facilities are great. This is a Mike Strantz masterpiece so expect to be challenged. You will find that it is more visually difficult than what it plays. He gives you plenty of room to make good shots. First time around can create some difficult lies but once you know the course you can play to the safer areas and score well. Very unique, interesting and beautiful holes.

I’ve played Tot Hill twice before (several years ago) and enjoyed it. Played it today and it was in absolutely terrible shape; especially the “greens”. There was almost no grass on any of the “greens” just burnt vestiges of what should be grass.
Found out at the turn that they are closing down next month for a complete renovation that will take several months. Wish I had known that before I paid $74 to okay this goat path.

Many an acquaintance of mine has always said "You have to play Tot Hill Farms" I will say it is a masterpiece from a mastermind, but Mike Strands would have been more disappointed then my golf group was. By the second green we thought we were on the goat ranch from hell. For $64 a round I expected an experience of a challenging round of golf from they hype, not a nightmare. Greens are gone. $30 would be pushing it to call it a fair price. It's a shame no one would warn you of the conditions when you called for the T time that the course needs a lot of work. The staff was less the welcoming and I can see why! My fault for not going in and expressing our disappointment at the end of our round. We did get some good laughs in the parking lot from the group behind who also experienced the course for the first time!........Thought we may have spotted some deer during our day, must not have been enough grass for them to graze.

Okay, I understand all the press for Mike Strantz and his unique and complex designs. I played Tobacco Road a couple years back and enjoyed it. I was in N.C. last week and played Tot Hill Farm Golf Club and I will be honest, I am shocked it was open. It has a more extreme design than Tobacco Road but that was not the problem. The course was in treacherous shape. There were greens with sod strips missing so there were 2 inch trenches in the greens. Others were re-grassed in patches while other had no grass and were just mud. There were tees with no grass and fairways with areas of dirt. Cart paths washed out. If the owner has deep pockets they may survive but it looks like it is on the edge of defeat. Equally disappointing was that there was no mention of any of the problems at check in. Mind you the green fee was only $54 but even that could be considered criminal. This is just a heads up that the experience at Tot Hill Farm is far from what all the hype is about. BE WARNED!

This is a low-key version of Tobacco Road set in the rolling hills where everyone’s accent is super thick and no ones there to clean your clubs after your round. And that’s okay. This is a super fun golf course.
I was impressed with the conditioning despite the crazy routing up and down the hills. Every hole feels a bit scary, but just like Mike Stranz’s more famous Tobacco Road, there’s always more room than you think and pars are on the menu.
This is a course you just have to find a way to play. There are not many like this one. It’s a doozy.

It's practically impossible to give Tot Hill Farm a rating because, like other Strantz designs, it's not golf in the conventional sense. Visually, the course is amazing. The views are stunning and the holes are carved into the landscaping in a breathtaking way. As a golf course, it's below average. Many holes are nearly impossible to play if you haven't played several times. There are all kinds of hidden hazards, blind shots, and tricked up green complexes. Speak of greens, they are beyond unfair and bordering on silly. Some are very small, some are incredibly big. The shapes can be just silly and some pin locations are just dumb. On one particular hole the green was about 40 yards long and the green was put 5 yards from the back with a span of 10 yards wide with slopes on all sides. That's beyond dumb. Definitely recommend playing the course for the views but would not recommend it to someone looking for a good golf layout. Check it out once and then move on.

Played August 31st, 2020. Walked off the course after #2 green. Large poke done recently with heavy sand. No am dew removal or cut!! Same thing happened 2 yr's ago, same week. No warning from reservations or course! Went back to Tobacco Road and played 2 days in a row. Great conditions. Tot Hill is a great course but don't play for weeks after airaition! give this course another 2 weeks.

Always love this layout. Another mike strantz masterpiece. Greens were in very good condition. Considering the state of affairs right now the golf course was as good as expected. My only concern was the courses lack of covid sensitivity, rajesh in bunkers, no spacers at the bottom of cups...you had to pull pins to retrieve your ball, inside staff not wearing masks

Was a fun, difficult course. It is well maintained. Greens were great. Beautiful, natural look. Not your typical kind of course

We had more fun playing golf at this course than we've had playing elsewhere in years. It's tough, but as long as you just enjoy the scenery and don't take yourself too seriously you'll have a wonderful time. Strantz had quite an imagination and he used a lot of it when he designed this course. RIP Mike.
