The place to go if you are looking for art for your home or just want to browse. It is best to visit on weekends as most studios are open then.

The Torpedo Factory is a massive art collective on the water in Old Town. It’s three stories of a variety of artist studios (over 70) that each do their own thing. There are many painters and jewelers with their work for sale but, also some photographers. If you go to see everything, you could spend multiple hours here but, they have a map in the entry that says which studios are open that day.

This art center featured beautiful work, but it was a little overwhelming. There were so many art booths. We enjoyed spending an afternoon there, but it was HUGE!

My adult daughters and I enjoyed a couple hours roaming the 3 floors of awesome artists and their incredible work. Even though the artists were working, they answered questions and shared their techniques. Well worth the trip. Oh, and there is a parking garage right across the street from it, which made the day even better!

3 Floors of Artist Studios... Great location, interesting variety of art work. Nice way to spend 1-2 hours in downtown Alexandria, abutting the waterfront.

Best part is wandering in an out of different studios and having conversations with the artists. Photographer Jennifer Nordstrom is a great example -- amazing photographer and wealth of knowledge and advice!

I love when they take an old space like a factory they create a space for art or small business. That is what this old building that use to be a torpedo Factory has done.
The Torpedo museum was once just that a factory where torpedo was made and after the war it was decommissioned. The building sat empty a while till the city created this amazing space for artist.
Artist are fantastic! Paint, sculpture, photography, jewelry just about all art imaginable. We did go on a Sunday half the artist were not open. You can still walk through look in the windows what they are creating!

About 50 artists that have showrooms and also showcase how they do their art. Jewelers, painters, sculptures etc. All of this on the on the Potomac River.

For many years the Torpedo Factor, was the top rated attraction in Olde Town Alexandria. Today I was shocked to see the huge turnover in artists in just the last year. It did not look like the same place as far as art quality . One artist we talked to said that the turnover has been accelerating. In the guide books covering Alexandria, the Torpedo Factory has been listed as a must see. Based on what I saw today, I think future guide books won't even mention the Torpedo Factory.

Great place to wander around and talk with the artists. I found some very unique items at very reasonable prices. Makes me wish I lived in the area.
