2021 spring blossoms were earlier than normal year, from sakura to this wisteria in Kitakyushu. We purchased advanced ticket a few days before the date, specifying the 2 hour time slot. We payed additional 1,000 yen at the entrance. Credit card was accepted this year. Walk is at least 30 minutes, maybe 1 hour duration. There was no shuttle bus operation in 2021 season. We did self drive as we had done in the past. Fortunately, it was under the sunshine. We chose 10 Am - noon slot. While we were there, we realized bloom proceeded as the temperature arose. Drive from Yahata area (AEON Mall, for instance) is 20 - 30 mins.

２０２１年５月４日に行った。
残念ながら、ピークが過ぎていたのかな？
紫や白の花より、緑の葉のほうが目についた。
次に行く機会があれば、見ごろな状態をしっかり調べてから行こう。

Kawachi Wisteria Garden is one of highlights for the sightseeing in Kitakyushu. The season is at the end of April and the beginning of May. To avoid the crowds, you should obligatorily book an entrance coupon at convenience store. On a less crowded day, that coupon is used as an entrance ticket. For a crowded day, you have to pay an extra fee at the entrance gate in addition to that coupon. To access the site, the most convenient is driving a car. Otherwise, you can take a public bus from JR Yahata station, and walk about half an hour. It is not bad, and even recommendable to walk, because the way to wisteria park is a very pleasant promenade.

It is a small, privately owned farm garden. Quite primitive and not much inside. Don't expect to have a cafe or restaurant, not even a pavilion. Having said that, it is still pleasant to walk around if the wisteria is in its season.
The season is around end of April but the best lasts only about a week or two. The problem is that you cannot fore tell exactly when until about a week beforehand as published on their website. The owner is very honest and charge the entrance according to the quality of blooming. Japanese are very keen on this and on full bloom days it is quite crowded and need to limit visitors. For overseas visitors I suggest you allow a flexible week and spend the other days at Aso, Yufuin, Beppu, Kumamoto or Fukuoka, checking daily and jump to it once you feel the time is right.
The experience during peak season is immaculate and worth the trip.
The location is pretty remote without much public transport (although some very limited special bus service may be available). Self drive is highly recommended.

The park is in fact beautiful and the wisteria hanging from the beams are incredible, a sight not to be forgotten, but I was expecting a larger park with more flowers and areas to sit down and appreciate the view.
The most important thing however, for those interested in visiting, is to make sure you head there during the peak of blooming, otherwise you won't be able to see any of the beauty you're expecting to. The downside is that the blooming coincides with Golden Week, which means, it's always packed during blooming season. It's still worth the visit though.
There's a free shuttle from the closest station, but the line is huge, so be sure to get there with time. To see the park it should take no longer than 1h, so calculate the time considering that.

事前に最寄りのコンビニで入園予約券を購入して訪れる必要がありますが、実際に入園すると、見事な藤のトンネル、藤のドーム、想像以上の大きな藤棚に圧倒されてしまいます。 見事な藤園です。

ゴールデンウィークに訪問しました。藤の花の量と美しさに圧倒されました。今まで、見た藤園の中で一番だと思う。

Although there are wisteria trees around, having a garden full of it makes it a beautiful excursion. However, one must plan the trip carefully because it is seasonal, the best time to view is from mid April to early May. Best to check out their website before going. Also, during peak hours, you need to pre-book tickets otherwise you won't be able to go it. I was there one day before closing so it was not crowded and it was best even though the bloom has already past its best.

We booked our reservation at Japanican website - their sale starts at March (I booked on March 3rd) I was so excited to see the Wisterias but the day before we head there (April 25, 2019), I checked Instagram to see current updates and saw that they are still not in full bloom ='( little to none is blooming at that time. :(
We decided not to go (We were staying at Hiroshima).
Next time, I hope to see Wisteria in this place..

Hi, we are visiting the Kita Kyushu Wisteria Garden after May 6th 2019, will they be open for the public? The information on the website mentions about the ticket purchasing from April 20th to May 6th, but after this period is not very clear if there is still admission to the Garden. Thank you.

Hi. I visited today, and its open. You don't have to buy tickets in advance, you buy them on site. From what I understood the park will be open till the 12th of May

Can you please tell me when the Wisterias are expected to bloom this year,2019 and how long do the flowers last?

Hard to tell when exactly they will bloom as it all depends on the weather, but the last few times I have gone have been around the first week of May and the flowers were really pretty.
This year the weather has been warm though so maybe the very end of April will be good too, but it’s hard to tell.
Sorry I couldn’t give you a more definite answer.
