It’s a hidden architectural and artistic gem. Such a shame that doesn’t get the maintenance. importance or publicity it deserves. A similar monument in Europe or any western country would have attracted tourists by thousands. A must visit for those interested in history, art and architecture.

the medieval caves,is attraction of Vijayawada but felt that is obtained ignored by the tourist travelling to the city. actually in the district of Guntur opposite the Krishna river, it can be easily reached by 301 bus from Vijayawada bus stand, what we took to visit the place. altho not maintained to the standards of Ajanta Ellora and other Cave temples it is worth visit, stonecarved idols is a testimony the glorious time of Art in the southern India. good number of local people visit the place to worship some of the idols.

Nice old caves , reached here by bus from Vijayawada, really nice and very ampful time available for leisure and refreshing moments, just like a picnic spot

These were quite old and three floor structure. Nothing special in the cave. A temple inside having Padmaswamy statue adds to the attraction. Don't recommend going there specifically, can check out if near to this place.

I was quite a normal type of caves. But it's good. We can visit on a Sunny day and enjoy the greenary

These are small but very beautiful caves. The view from the top of the caves is excellent. When there is not a lot of crowd. must visit attraction at Vijaywada.

A great ride to this peaceful yet vibrant place. It is at a manageable distance from the city and for people of all ages to visit.

Amazing place to drop in if you are interested in History. While others have written about what you can see here, I would like to applaud the staff here.
Be it Laxman the ticketing incharge or the security gaurd, they take the extra mile to welcome you and make your comfortable.
Laxman went out of his way to explain and show us around and share the details about the place.

Undavalli Caves are actually located in Guntur District, but this caves are easy accessible from Vijayawada. Located at 6 km away from Vijayawada and 22 km away from Guntur
This Caves are curved out of solid stone on a hill side in the 4th to 5th Centuries.
Actually this Caves are four story rock cut hindu temple.
The ground floor is dedicated to Trimurthy (Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva). It is said that Ground floor is an unfinished curved temple
Second floor is most amazing and must visit place of Undavalli caves where one can see Large Vishnu Shrine in sleeping position.
Third floor is adorned with numerous sculptures of Lions and Elephants
Fourth floor which is top floor of this caves is also unfinished one.

Unfortunately there aren't hotels to stay near by.The nearest one would be hotel Manorama

Yes I answer your question. This place undavalli is at a distance of 70km from Eluru. I think you could know about Vijayawada. This place is very nearer to the Vijayawada
