‪This is famous tourist spot in kodaikanal where maniratnam movee Guna starring Kamalhassan had been shot and hence got the name as Guna cave.Earlier they used to allow the people to watch cave view from far distance. Now they closed it due safety reasons and we can have the nice mountain view covered with mist. There are some wild woods which feels like tangled cobras. We need pay 10rs as entry fees to enter the place‬

‪The images that you to get see on the internet builds up your excitement to visit this place. You imagine some thrilling lost caves hidden in the wild woods. Alas!! There is nothing of that sort. At the outset the weekend traffic puts you off.. and finally when you reach your destination you wonder where the caves are.

Thanks to a fellow traveller who told us that the narrow openings in the ground that has been covered with metal grills are the caves. We tried peeping through the gaps in between the grills but all we could see is heavy vegetation. It was a sheer disappointment. The weather was foggy so we couldn't see much of the scenic beauty either but honestly i don't think the view would have been anything expectational. There was absolutely nothing to do...you just take an entry ticket and walk half a mile in the woods which feels just like walking in any other nature trail. you reach the destination and then keep wondering "Now what!" The only attraction was a gigantic tree with its roots and branches spread wide on the ground giving a spooky feeling. You can take few clicks there that’s it. Sad but true like most of the tourist spots in India this too is not maintained.‬

‪It is named after Kamal Haasan's movie Guna. The caves are closed owing to safety reasons. But you can go and enjoy the dense forest views. You will also spot the dense roots and towards the end there is a platform which gives view of entire valley (only if there is no fog or mist). Entry Charges were 20 bucks.‬

‪This isn't a great spot. Monkeys are everywhere. You can't carry anything in your hands. They WILL come for you.

When we went, every child was crying, they were so scared of the monkeys. And the spot has no great views or anything.

If you are looking for photography. Pillar rock, Kodaikanal lake and pine tree forest is great.

We didn't bother with other sites. It only offers more monkeys, so no picnic spots.

‪But since it is near among other places, you can just visit this place to chill with friends and families.
The cave is so far closed and cannot enter.
You'll have to view it from a far off place, behind the iron grills.

Another thing to do would be to check the viewpoint ahead and taking photos at the roots of trees.‬

‪Entry to the cave is restricted. We only got a peek inside, through the iron bars. The tree roots and the fog gives an eerie look to the place. ‬

‪Guns caves is one the most famous spots in Kodaikanal. Its very interesting because it is in the middle of the forest and the roots and trees look so different. Good for those who look for outdoor activities. The best reason above all is that famous movie Jamal Hassan's Guna was also shot here. May since then this caves became famous and its really interesting to find a spot that was shot in movies. We really enjoyed exploring the shooting spots of the movie. Hope you may also like.‬

‪The view from the watch tower in Guna Cave is very scenic. There are monkeys all around. You have to walk a distance before seeing the beautiful view. ‬

‪The caves itself are cordoned off. Nothing to see there. What's interesting is the aerial view of the town below, which is usually shrouded with clouds. there was fog at 12pm. Lots of monkeys running around. A lot of trees have their roots exposed which is a curious sight and makes for interesting family photographs.‬
