‪Huge temple complex with giant Buddha‬

‪Located at the confluence of rivers at the south corner of old Ayutthaya city, this is a major temple complex with large covered areas to accommodate big crowds of pilgrims. Huge amounts of parking, much of it under shade.
The main Buddha image is imposing and grand, reflecting Ayutthaya’s past imperial splendor.

Also located on the temple premises at the river front is the Chinese shrine to เจ้าแม่สร้อยดอกหมาก (Lady of the Betel Flower Necklace), a Ming princess who arrived from China to marry an Ayutthaya king, but due to a misunderstanding she refused to leave her ship until she passed away from heartbreak.‬

‪Great Buddha Statue‬

‪One of the most important temple of the Ayutthaya Era. The temple and the giant sitting Buddha statue, amazingly, escape the damaged of wars. Devotees come to receive blessings from Luangpo To, the huge Buddha statue, who indiscriminately greet everyone with a kind half smile.‬

‪I went to visit the temple I really like this place. it gives me peace of mind Made merit with the family, the temple was shady, many people, there was a waterfront to sit and watch the fish. Plus it's a temple in the history of Thailand.‬

‪วัดพนัญเชิง เป็นวัดที่มีประวัติอันยาวนาน ก่อสร้างก่อนการสถาปนากรุงศรีอยุธยา และไม่ปรากฏหลักฐานที่แน่ชัดว่าใครเป็นผู้สร้าง
ด้านในมีหลวงพ่อโตหรือหลวงพ่อซำปอกง เป็นพระพุทธรูปขนาดใหญ่ และใหญ่ที่สุดในพระนครศรีอยุธยา หน้าตักกว้าง 20 เมตรเศษ สูง 19 เมตร เป็นพระพุทธรูปปูนปั้นปางมารวิชัย เคยได้รับความเสียหายในสมัยเสียกรุง แต่ก็ได้รับการบูรณะซ่อมแซมมาโดยตลอด จนกระทั่งในสมัยพระบาทสมเด็จพระจอมเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัวแห่งกรุงรัตนโกสินทร์ เมื่อ พ.ศ. 2394 ได้โปรดเกล้าให้บูรณะใหม่หมดทั้งองค์ และพระราชทานนามใหม่ว่า พระพุทธไตรรัตนนายก ‬

‪Zweiter besuchter Tempel in Ayutthaya im November 2019‬

‪Einer der ältesten buddhistischen Tempelanlagen (ausgenommen die Geschichtsparks, davon gibt es auch einen in Ayutthaya), die ich bisher gesehen habe. Thailändische Freunde haben mit uns an einem Montag einen privaten Ausflug nach Ayutthaya gemacht, und sie haben uns 3 ausgewählte Tempel gezeigt.

Wat Phanan Choeng Worawihan war der zweite buddhistische Tempel an diesem Tag in Ayutthaya.

Der Tempel besteht weitgehenst noch aus Holz. In der Mitte des Tempels ist eine goldene Buddha-Statue von etwa 19m Höhe. Weiterhin können Cat-Fische am Fluss gefüttert werden. Die Gartenanlage ist ebenfalls sehenswert.

Im Eingangsbereich befinden sich überdachte Parkplätze, eine Bar mit Erfrischungsgetränke und eine WC-Anlage.

Sehr schöner historischer Tempel, der nicht überlaufen war, der uns sehr gut gefallen hat.‬

‪My first but not my last trip to Thailand. Spent 4 days in Ayutthaya. The various temples there are way beyond anything I could have imagined. this was a stand out among them. ‬

‪La statua é decisamente imponente ed incute un po' di timor reverenziale anche se si é già visto il Buddha sdraiato a Bangkok. Bello ed interessante tutto il sito, non solo per la statua.‬

‪Giant Lord Buddha in sitting posture‬

‪I had visited this beautiful temple dedicated to Lord Buddha during my full day sightseeing trip to Ayuthaya. This is an active temple and no entrance fee is required here. I was mesmerized to see the giant idol of Lord Buddha in sitting posture. The giant Buddha is surrounded by many small Buddha idols in the walkway surrounding the alter. Many devotees were there offering prayers and also chanting along with the monks in the temple premises.‬
