Im Internet haben wir viele Bewertungen gelesen, die das Schnorcheln hier empfehlen.
Wir können uns dieser Empfehlung nicht anschließen. Die Korallen waren so gut wie alle abgestorben. Beim Schnorcheln hatte man das Gefühl einen Korallenfriedhof zu sehen.
Man hat leider auch sehr wenige Fische gesehen. Wir konnten leider keine Schildkröten oder Haie sehen.

Très cher pour ce que c’est … aucun accès au resort à ce prix là juste la plage. C’est très beau mais vous avez des plages gratuites autour. Fuyez cette arnaque touriste !

No real coral, it's all broken from storms, however if you swim out to where the boats are there are the biggest turtles we've ever seen in 30 years of diving

We were able to get lucky and swim out and see some massive turtles. There are also boats that will take you out to where they know turtles are for 100 b each. Go at 4-5 for best chance since they are feeding

Mooi strand! Maar het is echt een spot om naartoe te gaan om te snorkelen. Mijn vriend heeft heel veel moois gezien waaronder haaien en schildpadden. Ivm ondiepheid en koraal zijn schoenen+bescherming lichaam wel aan te raden. Vond het strand zelf niet heel ideaal liggen, beetje schaduw van bomen. Mocht je specifiek voor het strand gaan en niet willen gaan snorkelen dan zou ik het niet per se aanraden.

The place to go to see turtles!!!! So so nice and beautiful, some shady areas also. Lots of steps to get down but no entry fee. Really good.

We went on a boat trip and stopped here to snorkel. It was fantastic the water was warm a bit off a double edged sword as the coral does bleach but still an amazing amount and variety off fish to see including the shark ...

What a beautiful beach. As natural as they come. Beautiful white sand backed by shady trees and beach bushes. Turquoise water that has to be the warmest sea water in the world!
Sharks (friendly) and turtles and every colour fish to snorkel with.
No sunbeds or parasols or anything .....as nature intended.
We've been to the Caribbean etc but this is one of my favourite places.

Ho avuto la fortuna di vedere moltissime isole Thailandesi e la piccola koh Tao è la mia preferita : l'atmosfera rilassata, il mare meraviglioso e la barriera corallina la rendono speciale. In alcune spiagge purtroppo c'è il problema dei rifiuti portati dal mare, ma Sairee, Freedom Beach, Tanote, sono super. In alcune si paga dai 50 ai 100 bath a persona per entrare (Freedom, shark bay). E NON ci sono i sand flies, per me caratteristica indispensabile.

If you ask me this is the second most pretty beach of thailand. The sand is really soft, the water super blue, and there are sharks ofcourse. :)

Hi!
Thanks for writing about Shark Bay. I'm wondering if you were snorkeling or diving to see those sharks! My 10 year old can only snorkel right now and I would love to find a way for her to experience what you did.
Did you have to swim far off shores or did you go with one of the boat company?

Hi! We snorkeled. The are where we saw the most sharks was a little far from the beach shore, but close to the huts by the rocky shore, but totally doable with a life jacket. Or do what we did and buy a 10l dry bag and roll it up empty so there is only air in it Incase you need to float a little.
A boat company will drop you right in the location and also take you to other sites as well if you choose to pay but we just did it ourselves. Check out the map in my review of Shark Bay.

Hi, we did snorkelling with turtles and nice sharks just in front of our hotel Jamahkiri (2meters height) :)

Hello, Rob K, can you suggest some of the "other" spots you mention at the end of your review? For anyone who reads this, I made a huge trip to Koh Phangan 15 years ago to swim "amazing" coral. It was 90% dead. Same thing in Phillipines (Siqijor), even in the amazing beaches at Tioman and Perentian Islands (Malaysia). You are lucky to see 50% living coral at walk-in snorkel spots these days. I think people reporting "amazing" snorkeling have never seen more than a few hundred fish at a spot, and never had the luck to see thousands of fish teeming around them. Anyway, I'd be interested to know any spots in Thailand that someone can confirm 50% live coral. Thanks!

I think Aow Leuk Bay and Light House Bay on Koh Tao still have 50% of the coral living. I don't know whether you can call those places "walk-in". You could reach them from the shore but it would take too much effort and climbing over rocks. I think you need to hire a boat.
