getting to this attraction by self drive car is the most effective way.Begin my day with early start from Miri downtown ,driving through the AH150 ,quite quick for 30-40 minutes then arrive at the ParkHQ at around time of opening. It's easy to register via QR code ,no worried about internet coverage ,using the provided park Wifi ,then I get my ticket and map of trails ,short and effective loop for limited time ,like me, is red, white, yellow loop ,which takes around 2.30 hours to 3 hours to enjoy at least 5 waterfalls and wild flora and fauna ,challenging my physical demand. waking up and down the slope ,down to creek ,for the waterfalls ,Latak waterfall is the most stunning waterfall that flowing down from at least 5 meter high cliff down to the swimming hole. What a pity !!! I did not prepare swimwear and towel for this . During the trails ,it's coverage with mobile phone signals .On my visit on Sunday ,it's a lot of visitors ,most locals . it's my luck that I did not face raining while hiking. it' must be too bad and slippery during rain.

Overall, a good place to visit for the day. The trails through the jungle are generally well marked and are not to be underestimated. I did the waterfalls walk which took about 4 hrs of strenuous walking - there are many steep inclines some of which needed the assistance of the ropes provided. I didn't see ANY of the named wildlife (I was quiet and observant) but even without tour guide, the jungle was amazing. I did this is a day trip from Miri (itself not worth visiting) with a Grab there and a very lucky lift back as i was told by the Park Ranger that I would struggle with buses/taxis out there due to major road works going on.

We were able to visit 3 of the 9 waterfalls and the hike was well sign posted and our guide Ronaldo was very knowledgeable. The waterfalls were just beautiful.

Despite the city of Miri having a large community of expatriates and locals keen on exploring outdoors, Lambir National Park has not taken serious efforts to be the major attraction in Miri for recreation, family get-together, and relaxation. No new facilities added for the last 10 years. Existing facilities continue to crumble (small bridges across streams along the trail, and tree tower are mostly damaged). Other national parks like Poring (Sabah) and Mulu (Sarawak) have more facilities (well maintained trail, canopy walk, tree tower). Addition of those facilities, including children playground, garden with flower trees, and expansion of pool section at the waterfall may be able to attract more attendance. And in return, the canteen could also be in operation. Different fees structure (for using the facilities could also be considered (like what is done at Poring). As of now, Lambir National Park is only suitable for hiking or picnic at the waterfall.

We went with the intention to have a nice picnic next to the waterfalls but in the end the waterfalls have been closed off! And please be aware that this is strictly suitable for jungle trekking purposes, especially for those with some hiking experience to ensure a pleasant hike. There are some parts on the Pantu Trial that was very steep that requires a bit of stamina and since the path wasn't very well-maintained, a pair of shoes with good traction is highly recommended. We were quite disappointed that we weren't able to access the waterfall but it was still nice to be able to see it along the hike.

Around 50 minutes drive from Miri city to reach the park with area over 6900 hectares.
Interesting to those holding the research as more than 240 species of birds, deer ,insects and etc waiting for you. Natural waterfalls are also appeared on your sight during the trip hours.

I spent half a day visiting Lambir Hills NP.
It was a pleasant hike up to the waterfall/swimming hole.
There were little shelters dotted around which would have been great for a picnic.
Swimming in the waterhole was fun (luckily I had water shoes - otherwise, I don't think I'd have fancied it).
I only saw 3 other people whilst I was in the Park.
I enjoyed it.
Happy to recommend.

My first time visiting this park. I caught a grab from Miri to arrive at
8am which I had understood was the park opening time. The office to register and pay to enter park however didn’t open the day I visited until 8:30am. Hikers supposed to be back from longer trails by 4pm.
I chose to do one of the hardest walks to the top of Bukit Lambir. I was looking for a challenge and it certainly was.
I found this hike harder than the pinnacles in nearby mulu. I do not recommend this hike for beginners. The final trail to the summit has lots of ropes and more technical sections.
The trail is mostly shaded but was still very hot. I drank in excess of 3 litres of water but still ended up very sick with bad heat exhaustion. I needed a trip to the hospital that evening for a drip. When hiking this trail I would recommend taking along some sort of rehydration salts to add to your water. Carry plenty of food...
Despite my issues with too much heat I had a very lucky day in terms of wildlife
Sightings. Perhaps because I was the only person attempting the trail that day.
I managed to see the giant flying squirrels in a couple of places. Several groups of black monkeys and one larger orange coloured monkey near the river.
I hope to come back to visit this park but would probably spend my time enjoying the wildlife
on the yellow trail rather than going to the summit again.

We plan to visit Lambir and Niah in one time visit, we stay in Miri. Is it possible to do that? We plan to rent a van (private).
Is there a restaurant for lunch?
Which is time consumer to visit Niah Cave or Lambir?
Thank you,
Jeffrey

You can do both Lambir and Niah caves in a day but you will be rushing and you can only do long hikes in both places. Perhaps, hike to the water fall in Lambir and the first cave in Niah. There is a town close to Niah that has several restaurants.

How far a drive is this from Miri and how much time do you recommend spending in Lambir Hills park?
Hi Janet
the drive is less than 1 hour
I would recommend a whole day to enjoy the nature
I did a 3 hours thing because, I had a 6 year old and a 60 years old

Yes. There is a simple BBQ pit available in that area which I believe is for the visitor's use. However, I think it is best to call and ask the park management directly because making fire in a wooded area is normally not encouraged for safety reasons.
I don't see any bbq pits neither but to be honest, I doubt you can as they are quite strict with pollution and keeping the nature as it as. Even when one of the huge trees fell, they can't remove it. According to my guide, he say that they can't bring out anything out of the forest. Try doing a picnic instead...

Hi there, can you actually swim by the waterfalls or at least refresh yourself? There were some conflicting pieces of information here. Thank you so much!
Hello. Yes, I have seen visitors' swimming in the area. The area nearest to the waterfall is cordoned with floating markers (due to the depth and fast moving water) so visitors should not cross that line.

Hallo iedereen,
Hi everyone,
Can anyone tell me of how I need to get there by public transport from Miri and where I need to be?
I am planning a visit to Borneo to explore nature, at the end of August and will be also in Miri.
Is this also doable with a 7 year old child?
Is it better to take a guide, what is your experience?
How much will it cost me to make this excursion?
I am talking about public transport, guide and entrance and so.
Thanks in advance for your response.
