The iconic horse head of the Tusan beach is now a pile of rubble amidst the upgrading project taking place at the beach. It could be due to both natural and man-made reasons. If you are thinking of visiting any beaches in Miri, never go with the expectations of clear blue seawater, white sandy beaches and sparkling clean sand. These will only lead to disappointment.

This tourist spot destination is around 40km from Miri city,it takes 50 minutes to reach the beach that near to Bekenu town.
People may astonished by remarkable bioluminescence especially during blue stunning sight season walking along the seaside.

This definitely wasn't a place to go for swimming/beach/picnic.
It was nice just for the sunset.
You parked on the top cliff area & had to negotiate all sorts of building works (I hope it isn't going to be a hotel or big development!).
You couldn't see how to get down to the beach. The normal steps were put out of action - didn't look too safe to me.
I followed some locals & eventually found a way down.
I got some nice late afternoon/sunset photos & then left.
Visit was pretty short.
I think it was probably lovely ONCE.

A short drive from city of Miri Malaysia in the northern part of state of Sarawak. Very near to Brunei Darussalam border. Relaxing destination fur from crowded tourist places. Nature has created it's own pictorial stand in local language "Memang Baik"

Tusan cliff already gone due to construction works. Sad to see such heritage to be vanished in a blink of eye.

Currently under constructions. Stairway entrance down to the sea was in bad condition. Although you can still try to make your way down, just be extra careful. You should try the coconut ice-cream by the road. It’s good. Tried the Fresh Coconut and it was very refreshing. Cost roughly RM5 per coconut. Enjoy 😁

주차하기 불편하고
진입로 또한 아이들과 함께하기에 부담스럽지만
공사가 끝난다면
미리 최고의 힙플레이스가 될 것 같아서 기대가 되는 장소.
보르네오의 해변 중에서 가장 신비하고 멋진 경험을 선사한
투산비치
미리로 여행을 한다면
꼭 가봐야할 힙플레이스

拥有一个绵长的白色沙滩以及一个缓坡，是观赏日落的秘密天堂。第一次我造访这里的时候 想要去都山海边需要经过一个斜坡 非常不方便且有危险性， 现在，该处已经设立长约50英尺的五颜六色临时木阶梯，暂时名为"都山彩虹梯"， 让我们可以利用这个阶梯下斜坡取景打卡拍照， 除此之外，附近还有一些摊子售卖零食，热炒，甜点如著名的椰子冰淇淋等。这是游客来美里绝对不能错过的景点之一，这里也是非常适合一家大小和情侣前来拍拖的地方。

It's sad to see a beach that's been littered and no longer maintained. Just crap everywhere and doesn't look good at all. =(

Went there last week and the view there is magnificent! There are a few stalls selling coconut ice cream and local foods nearby. It's a place to visit if you are in Miri!

Hi I'm planning to go Tusan beach in mid May 2019. My main purpose is to see blue tears. Is there any season for blue tears? Can we see it in May? I read some say in Nov & Dec. Some say wee morning hours. Kindly advise. Thx.

The best chance to see the blue tears is apparently in nov-dec. But even then, it is more of luck.

You can visit and stroll around Tusan beach without a tour guide. It is easy. Get a grab, or a privately arranged driver for a return trip. There is no public transport in this area.

I am planning to go in late August with my family. My family includes an elderly woman and two babies. How is the access pathway to the beach for the less mobile? Also is the sandfly situation bad? With these concerns in mind, should I still go with my family? Thanks for your reply in advance.

Not advisable to go with seniors / babies who are less mobile.
There is no proper "concrete staircase" , just a dirt track and mud steps down to the beach area closer to the waves .
The "railings" is just ropes/bamboo poles for some support , but in my opinion still pretty treacherous
Unless you just wanted to see the sunset , then it's ok to leave the less mobile members near the carpark area while the fitter ones can go down and walk closer to the waves and also to see the cliff.
There are some sandflies but not super bad probably because we went to the beach after it rained .
However there are plenty of mosquitoes at the toilet area .

hi, when is the perfect time/month to see the blue phenomenon at Tusan Cliffs? Also, how to the check the current tide there?

I just came back from Miri. Managed to see blue tears. Were there end Sept. Went to the beach to watch sunset then had dinner somewhere else. We waited after dinner to return to the beach again. Apparently the plankton will only "glow" when it's being agitated. We walked down the cliff and walked in the waves. So be careful when you walk down the cliff. Remember to bring touch light.
