I. I was dropped off at the museum while my family and friends ran errands and shopped in the surrounding block. The electricity was out, but the light from the courtyard and windows was plenty.
2. I’m sorry, but I took one or two photos. Loved all the exhibits. Found the gift shop person friendly and bought quite a few postcards.
3. Mailed them to my parents. My mother thought the art inspiring. Later used them as a teaching aid.
4. I treasure the few I have left in a scrapbook.
5. When my family and friends all met again, we enjoyed refreshments and all traveled back to my dear sister, Oyediya Akinrinmade’s home — just across town.

A number of reviews and travel guides list this as a must visit. But to be honest, there is not much there. A guide shows you around and tells you exactly what is written on the signs next to the objects, but then asks for payment afterwards. Theres a few lovely objects to see, but more can be made of them. Only go if you have nothing else to do.

The National museum is old but definitely has good potential and still provided some valuable insights into some aspects of Nigeria's history, customs and traditions. Unfortunately taking of pictures within the museum itself isn't allowed, hence the lack of pictures here. A visit there starts off with a walk through the courtyard (after paying a N300 entry fee) and its scattering of a few displays of artwork and information boards, followed by a walk through the interior area which turns out to be much more expansive than it appears from the outside. The interior contains a sizable display of different artifacts from several Nigerian tribes. It's mostly a self-guided tour (I.e. no tour guide) but most of the arts on display have small signs attached to them providing basic information about each artifact.
With some investment to make the place a bit more modern and lively, the museum has potential to be a very good tourist attraction.

The National Museum is a good place to visit. While visiting one definitely will lean a few things about the history of Nigeria and its cultural tribes which makes it really exciting.

Good location, lots of resources, great learning, and everything to make a good museum. The curators are knowledgeable, but a lot more can be done in terms of preservation, lighting, an using multi media to enhance the experience of the visitors like the shooting of the late head of state, which the Mercedez Benz is present. Over all, I will recommend the visit, worth the time and ticket is great

This Museum has a rich historical heritage. The location is great, and I found the Bullet Riddled Mercedes Benz Limosine of the Late Nigerian Head of State General Murtala Muhammed who was assasinanted in 1976 very moving.

The museum looks good. However, some pieces of information about certain items are wrong. For example, Ikot Ekpene is in Akwa Ibom not in Cross River State.
Publicity of the museum is low. Hence, people rarely get to visit. Entry fee is ₦200 and you really don't need the tour guards to show you around.

We decided to go visit the national museum during the Eid public holiday. We were pleasantly surprised. Our tour guide "Figaro" was the absolute best and tickets only cost 1000naira for 8 of us. There's so much to see...old currencies...the car Murtala Mohd died in etc.

Is August free and do we need to bring an official letter to notify a tour guard that will show the students around. We have about 35 pupils, how much for each child and adult?I will be expecting a feedback as soon as possible. Thank you

You will definitely need to make a formal written application because of the number of students involved. This would ensure that the Museum Curator is able to assign a guide for your group.
Though, I doubt if the number (100), which you have requested for could be handled all at once.
The last time I was there, I think the group was limited to 25 persons.(though not sure about the actual figure).
I will like to find out of if 24th and 25th of nov 2018 is a free date cos I want to book for an event on that dat, pls I need and answer ASAp

Hi queen S! I don't know how you want to spend your day but 24th and 25th of November is not a Nigerian holiday so I will advice you go on a Sunday because there won't be hectic traffic in Lagos as regards to where you are coming from.
Did I answer your question or you still need better clarification to your question, you can dm me on 2348094704620
I will like to take kids there on excursion. Do I need to write any special letter to them and what are the visiting days. Thank you

No need to write letter you can just arrive but depending on age and number of kids you may want to take extra help as they don't permit touching of the exhibits. I would advise that for kids under 10 there is not really much to see they would understand, its more for older ones and adults. The open daily but close at 3.30 pm.
Please how to I know the assess fee I plan to visit
