I really love this place and the locals the way they welcome us is very warm and very approachable. The entire vicinity is very cool and amazing especially the rock formation inside the cave and I like the activity here since this is my first time going here and encountering spelunking. I really recommend this place, especially to our family and friends.

All tourist must try this when they visited Sagada, this sport test your patience, strength, brotherhood, friendship, partnership and more. Must prepare atleast 2weeks walking or jogging before your climb. It is all worth it

For thrill seeker adventurers, this is a must-visit and must activity for you, the spelunking in Sumaguing Cave.
Sumaguing Cave is the largest cave of Sagada, it’s one of the less than a hundred caves beneath Sagada. The rock formations were built by nature thousands of years ago and your tour guide should show you some epic formations that will entertain you during the spelunking.
Tips:
Bring and wear aqua shoes and swimwear (swim shorts and/or rash guard). Aqua shoes would help you avoiding to slip.
Condition your legs and feet by doing some exercise prior to the activity.
Follow the instructions of your tour guide carefully to avoid accidents.
Bring or wear face mask especially those who are sensitive to the smell of bat waste. This cave is home to thousands of bats.
You can add an option to go for a cave connection activity which is the Lumiang Cave to Sumaguing Cave. Since I’m not a thrill-seeker traveler, I just chose the normal spelunking activity.

An excellent tour for the whole family. Our 4 and 6 year old kids made it down and up with no difficulties. They even did the rope climb part themselves.
Put on your bathing suit before you leave your hotel and bring water shoes or sandals. (You won't get soaked, but your bum will get wet.) Having your own head lamp helps, but you could get by without it.

Just a short walk from the town with stunning views along the way. An excellent activity that is genuinely spectacular. Our tour guids were very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor.

This is my third try in the cave. At least I am better in my preparation - better footwear (“scuba”). Next time, I will also wear gloves and bring head lights or any LED light. Prepared to get wet as well.

We did the cave connection and were a group of 4 adults. Very challenging experience and worth the stress of walking on slippery limestone while hanging on high cliffs.

Hi, I would like to know some things:
How long is the trek?
Do we need to get soaked in the water?(is it cold)
Best time to go there?
Do we need pack lunch?
Is it a one way trek? I mean do we need to go back after the trek? Thank you.

hi the journey is about 3 hours minimum, depending on the speed you want to cruise through. It's one of a kind so I suggest taking your time. In some points during the adventure you will get wet, depending on the season sometimes the water goes up to just above your belly button. the water is cool, and bearable as you're walking through the cave you get quiet hot.
The best time to go is in the morning - but during rainy season it is highly unadvisable to visit as it becomes very dangerous (caves get filled with water in the afternoons).
If you get hungry quickly, it's advisable to bring snacks , I suggest a waterproof bag as your belongings will definitely get wet. (so bring along a waterproof camera or phone).
they do not recommend wearing hiking shoes as I found out the expensive way!! after purchasing gym shoes I was told the best footwear for this activity is slippers/thongs such as havaianas - because some soles of shoes are highly slippery on the various rock formations.
i've been numerous times and it's definitely worth it!! hope this helps :)

There are several sections of the cave and several different tour packages. I opted for the shorter trek and did just fine. There are a few spots that are tricky and require ropes but I did OK and I wouldn't self identify myself as athletic. I went at my own pace and didn't feel rushed and had a blast! Next time I'll go further in now that I know what to expect.

We didn't use any tour company for our first Sagada trip It is a D-I-Y trip however if you want a recommendation you may check this out. Road Trip owned by Dante Dalisay here's the contact number Smart: 0998-4665228 Globe: 0916-2448272 Landline: (02) 571-6297 or you may check their services by liking their facebook page by saerching "Road trip"
We are planning to go back to Sagada this summer season and will be availing this tour since I know the owner and we have our previous Ilocos tour catered by them. I Hope this information may help you. As you try contact them you may tell them that I have recommended you.
