Jyoti’s class included education about Indian cuisine and a delicious meal which we helped prepare. She was able to accommodate our multiple food sensitivities. Jyoti entertained us in her home, and her friendliness and ease with foreigners made us feel right at home. I would do it again!

What a fantastic experience we had cooking with Jyoti! We went to her home, where she explained every ingredient. She had prepared a handout with several detailed recipes and allowed us to choose which ones we would like to cook. Then she explained and demonstrated all the cooking techniques to us, allowing us to participate. At the end we retired to the parlor while the table was set with the feast. Fantastic! She made us feel so at home. Then she took us to the spice market that she uses.
It was a truly wonderful experience with such a gracious host and we feel like we made a new friend.

At the moment you've entered the room, you get this warm feeling of coming back home.
We were welcome with grace and quickly put to rest on the most comfy sofa.
After a short chat (and amazing chai) we immediately were presented with:
- best explanation of cooking inheritance: Generational -> Regional -> Seasonal
- interesting story about the differences between North and South of Indian cousin
- cooking options of our choice
Within a few minutes, my friend an I were already making delicious desserts and main course!
What started as a cooking experience turned into a calm and cozy dinner!
Deepest gratitude and respect to Madam Jyoti and her family for the one-in-the-life-time experience!

Our time with Jyoti and the Gourmet Desires Team was informative, fun and delicious! We first cooked with Jyoti and Team in 2017 on our first trip through Delhi (on to birding adventures). This time was equally wonderful and more, as many Indian cooking questions had arisen in the past eight years cooking Indian foods at home. Also, this second cooking class solidified the foundations, principles and techniques that Jyoti shares with her students. We worked through 14 recipes, including pastes, purees, chutneys, a street classic (Tikki) and main plates. Jyoti has a wonderful team (& son) who assisted in every way to make us feel welcome, comfortable and supported as we worked together for four hours. The Team then laid out our food as a feast on the dining table and we sat together with Jyoti and her son for our meal. Thank you Gourmet Desires!

We started our trip with a cooking class with Jyoti at Gourmet Desire. The best start of our trip! Jyoti had prepared a wide array of recipes and explained them all while we enjoyed a cup of chai tea, and then we got down to business. She showed us how to cook a wide array of dishes, explaining the different spices, techniques, and even the best utensils to use so to make amazing food. She told us variants and gave us all sorts of tips to make the wonderful food seem accessible. After sitting down and enjoying a lovely meal with Jyoti and some of her family, we left with a starter kit of spices so we would not feel intimidated to try to replicate the food when we get back home. Jyoti is warm and very welcoming. A fantastic highly recommended experience! Thank you Jyoti!

The course was tailored to our needs, so we got to cook a completely vegan set of meals. Jyoti also explained how to alter ingredients to fit what we like/have available back at home. She greatly improved our understanding of Indian cooking, was friendly and open minded. The fresh chutneys will blow you away!

I learned so many dishes from Jyoti and cannot wait to try them at home. Thank you for all the tips and tweaks and the delicious food. Made cauliflower, chai tea, green chutney, butter chicken, chana masala and many more.

Absolutely recommend Jyotis cooking class. Such a friendly, well traveled and charming lady. She explained Indian cooking traditions, taught me to make a few dishes which we then enjoyed together and sent me home with recipes. Very well organized and entertaining and a unique experience in her home. Thanks Jyoti!

Jyoti is a strong, kind, and energetic mother and the best cooking teacher in Delhi! She listens attentively to your needs and guides you step by step into the world of Indian cooking. From the basics of spices to the complexities of various dishes (regional, seasonal, vegetarian, and meat-based), you will be amazed by the versatility of Indian cuisine.
The time spent with Jyoti is both fulfilling and relaxed. There is always something new to learn, and you get to cook with your own hands. Enjoying the fruits of your labor at the end of the session is immensely rewarding, and you’ll leave with unexpected insights, allowing you to recreate the flavors of India back home.
What impressed me the most was Jyoti’s passion for life and her resilience. Conversations with her not only provide cultural insights into Delhi but also radiate her abundant energy.

This was a great last activity before returning to the UK, we learnt so much and it was a privilege to be in Jyotis home , she knows what she is doing and is such a calm lovely funny person , she provides notes and can answer any questions , lovely starters snacks and any dish you wish to make was accommodated , highly recommended.

What would be the cost for my husband and I both? We would like to take a class in the morning, Wednesday,November 18,

I would suggest you go directly to Gourmet Desire as they will know their availability and can give you pricing at the same time. Have a light breakfast because you eat what you cook and there will be plenty!
