‪Very rarely we find comfort at new places. There are lot of factors for a place to feel like home.

Let me put in the points format as I dont want people to miss anything while reading this.
1. Yoga - Obviously, the first and foremost important thing to consider at a yoga shala is the way they teach yoga. There are many places in mysore and a lot more in other cities. There are amazing teachers everywhere. Nirvana has got the cream of them. Karthik, roughly around 28, has been a practitioner for about 20 years. He knows in and out of almost everything in yoga. Nandeesh, the hatha and pranayama trainer, has great experience of handling the classes. Stella, a south american turned Indian, has dedicated her life to yoga. You would feel like attending the classes for these people. The warmth, the motivation, the expertise they share makes you feel so welcomed.
2. Meditation - Sashi, the founder, is a man from the earth. He is a book. Nah, he is a grantha. Sometimes I feel guys like him should write the new veda. A life full of experiences and examples to learn from. I hope someday he starts preaching his life and people starts following it to create a better society. Susheela, the meditation instructor, has been practicing and sharing the knowledge for years now. Meditation is one thing that can save you from any pain. These people knows the ways to ignite that fire in you.
3. Management - One can be better at hundred things but without the right team to manage and organise, one's empire cannot sustain for long. Nirvana has the best people to handle that. I always believed that women are the right choice for a managing position. Soumya and Pallavi, one sentence - you can count on them.
4. Food - My range of veg food was so limited till I came here. I dont know what Keerthi bhayya mixes in the food but believe me, I might not be exaggerating even if I say tahat this is the best daily food, you can get in mysore.
5. Accommadation - The rooms are pretty decent. They offer various types and options like a single room, single room with attached balcony, double rooms and on sharing basis everything. Charges are also very reasonable. Infact I should say they are relatively cheaper.

To summarise, I came here with a plan to stay for 10 days in october 2021. I have been here since then. I am not sure if I would like to leave this place at all. This is the place where you find the comfort of home, not just because of the food and accommadation, but because of the people. This is my family. You all are welcomed here‬

‪Nous devions passer une semaine dans au nirvana yoga shala, il s'est trouvé nous avons tellement aimé que nous y sommes rester 1 mois et demi. Nous avons terminé notre TTC 200h en 2019, et nous étions a la recherche d'authentiques cours de uoga Indien, nous avons largement trouvé notre bonheur.
J'ai vraiment découvert le kundalini yoga sur place, un vrai voup de coeur. Les professeurs sont extrêmement compétents et sympatiques. Sashi, le directeur, est d'une gentilesse incroyable. Je recommande vivement. D'autant plus que tout est propre, les chambres sont superbes et la nourriture est bonne également.
J'y retournerai sans hésiter !‬

‪I was at Nirvana Yoga Shala to initiate the Yin Yoga Teacher Training, which went quite well. And, beyond that, the school itself was run very well. The staff were friendly and helpful. The accommodations were more than adequate— quite comfortable, actually. I enjoyed the food served. The pranayama, meditation and chanting classes I had the opportunity to take were all excellent, and added to my personal and professional practices. The local neighborhood was colorful, and warm. And the students, who were from disparate parts of the globe, were all supportive and caring of each other. My experience at Nirvana Yoga Shala was top drawer. Highly recommended! (Yes, as part of the faculty, one might say I’m biased. But, I was as much a student as I was a teacher. My assessment is sincere— a great experience.)‬

‪The rooms are really clean, the staff is so friendly we felt really welcoming. A special thank to the kitchen staff who took care every meals we had something vegan to eat, really appreciate!
I just finish my TTC 200hr in Hatha and I'm so glad I did it at Nirvana yoga shala. Shilpa was an amazing teacher, I learned so much with her that I improved my own practice and feel confident enough to teach back to France. Thank you Shilpa for all your knowledge!!
I also completed the Suspension yoga TTC and it was amazing. I found it perfect after the Hatha TTC. Really condensed and intense, but so much fun and inspiring. Trixie is a complete different teacher, but I really liked the complimentary of both approaches. Thank you Trixie for the fun flying full of wise!‬

‪This was the 3rd time I’ve stayed at Nirvana Shala, and yet again it did not disappoint! The reason I keep going back is mainly because of the teachers:

- This trip I did a second 200 hours TTC in Kundalini yoga with Stella, and it has honestly been one of the best months of my life. Stella is knowledgable and experienced, she provided a vast range of materials and I learnt so much, from the lineage and philosophy of Kundalini, the teachings of Yogi Bahjan, Kriya yoga, nadis, chakras, bandhas, pranayama, Hatha asana to mantras, mudras and meditations. On top of this there are also daily pranayama, Ayurveda, Patanjali philosophy and meditation classes as part of the 200 hrs TTC. Stella is an enthusiastic, flexible and inspiring teacher and person and it was a pleasure to spend 4+ hours with her a day for the last month!

- There is nowhere else in Mysore (or most other yoga schools for that matter) that teach pranayama and meditation with such detail and in a deep and meaningful way. This is a really unique aspect of Nirvana Shala and these elements are taught by Shashi, the owner, who has a diverse range of experience and knowledge. Shashi is involved in every aspect of the school and is constantly adapting and improving what is already a wonderful place (the accommodation and food is outstanding and head and shoulders above the rest in Mysore)
- Shilpa and Karthik take Hatha and backbending classes and are the best asana teachers I’ve ever practiced with. They have both been practicing yoga since childhood and have a knowledge of the yogic body and asana which is unparalleled in the West.

‪I took the weekly package with Nirvana. The price is super reasonable (11000 private room, 15000 double room) for all you have: accommodation, food and as much yoga and meditation as you want. The schedule offers many options so you can really do a lot it you want :) the rooms are old but spacious and clean. The food is really good and on the nice rooftop. The classes are great. I highly recommend the hatha yoga class, the kundalini class and the backbend and hips opening class. The weekly package is also perfect because in Mysore it is not that easy to find drop in classes so here you just relax and focus on practicing. Also most of the classes are at Osho Glimpse (4min walk) that has gorgeous rooms to practice 😊‬

‪Nirvana yoga Shala was more than I could have expected. I completed 200hr TTC and gained so much knowledge of practice, alignment adjustment and teaching methods! Facilities and food were great! Great options for different classes I Highly Recommend for anyone looking for well structured classes! Either a TTC or drop in!!‬

‪I enjoyed learning at Nirvana yoga shala! Shilpa, our Hatha yoga teacher was so friendly, patient and she always used to correct the mistakes we made during Adjustments with a smile. She's so good at teaching and also at leading the class. There's a lot to learn from her.

Karthik's back bending and hip opening classes, Acro yoga class was one of the highlights of practicing here. He's so good!!

Dr.Shashirekha's Ayurveda and Anatomy sessions were amazing! She's extremely knowledgeable. We were throwing a 100 questions at her everyday and she always knew what to say and the sessions themselves helped us learn a lot about our own bodies and the impact of our eating habits and how all of this is connected to Yoga.

Pranayama sessions by Shashi (the founder) was also quite good. It's always fun to listen to his interesting stories and experiences.

Philosophy classes could have been a bit better. The subject is already dry. Two way discussions would have been more fun than listening to those lectures.

The facilities are quite good. The room is so cozy and comfortable and has everything we need. The food is pretty good. The cook tries to give us something different everyday.

Overall it was one of the best experiences in my life. I would definitely recommend Nirvana yoga shala to anyone!‬

‪Nirvana Yoga Shala has totally exceeded my expectations.

Safety (single lady): The buildings have a permanent security guard attached to each of them. Any stranger coming in, the guard will always question them first. Absolutely safe. The 615am morning practice was held conveniently in same building as the sleeping accommodation.

Rooms & Amenities: I stayed at the Osho building. The room is spacious, with clean bathroom, a balcony that overlook the backyard. Clean and comfortable for a Yogi. Good wifi connection. Filtered Water is available along the common corridor on every floor. There is kettle, safe, hair dryer in the room. Washing machine, iron board are available at the laundry area.

Food: Good mix of Indian and Western cooking.

Hatha Teacher: Shilpa is an amazing teacher. I learnt so much from her. She is ever so patient and approachable. Her instructions were very clear and adjustments were one of the best that I have experienced.

Pranayama & Mediation Teacher: Shashi is very intelligent and thoughtful teacher. He understands the different culture each student is from. He is patient and open to share about different concepts of Pranayama & Mediation & History of Yoga. He is a great story-teller about Yoga lineage and history. Always very refreshing to hear his stories about history.

Ayurveda & Anatomy: The teacher is very knowledgeable and very willing to share her knowledge with us. Patiently answer all our questions.

Other staff: Pallavi, Rashmi are always helpful and friendly. Such beautiful souls to have around in the Yoga Shala.‬
