1. They are cheaters. They Sale tea at the rate which is more than double from any other reputed tea vendors or n darjeeling. 2. Staff is rude and non interested in tourists who pay for their tea estate tour. 3. They ask name of hotels we are staying in and moreover drivers get tourists here rather than agencies. Things sounds fishy here

Hello Darshan,
You and probably someone else related to you have left us same negative review on Google Reviews as well. We have already responded to your and the other person's review.
We will re-share our view points here.
1) We can't be called Cheaters if you have find Our Teas expensive. Believe me our teas are way more expensive than this. We have subsidized the prices for Indian Market. And if were cheats then we would have sold the Teas at a Jacked up price at the Tea Boutique and in other prices everywhere. But it's not the case, you can Google Happy Valley Tea, its sold at same prices offline and online.
And there are hundreds of factors behind the prices of our tea, one of the top most being it's Pure Darjeeling. Just to let you know, most of these reputed local tea vendors have a reputation of selling Nepal Teas in name of Darjeeling Teas. Ref: https://bit.ly/3QrIovv
Moreover our Teas are Organic for a very long time, grown biodynamically in harmony with nature. And the
Highest Tea Plantation and factory at 6800ft make the growing teas and manufacturing them more expensive.
2) We are having a Huge Influx of Tourists all of a sudden post Covid and the team gets overwhelmed at times with all sorts of people and they may take a little bit time to respond. We can be a little humane to the ladies who are hardworking and managing everything. True, they are local and don't have very polished spoken skills and the language barrier mat at time come as rude but its not so. There are thousand of other reviews across the Internet for Happy Valley which will corroborate that the Hilly People who single handedly manage everything there are the most hospitable people one can come across.
We are in the Service Industry and we understand that we may not be able to make 100% people Happy with our Service but we will continue our efforts to do better. Having said that, we have passed on your remarks to the Management and will work on this internally.
3) We ask the name of Hotels since there have been instances where people have left their valuables at our place. Having the name of Hotels handy helps. Though it's not mandatory.
And we don't see the harm in Drivers bringing Tourists and not Agencies. Happy Valley is one of the Top 10 places to visit in Darjeeling for decades. It's not surprising if the drivers suggest to drive you to the Tea Estate on their own. We are not incurring any expenses on this. If any agencies were hired to do so then the Rs 100 Guided Tour fees would have increased and many including you won't have liked it.
Hope we have been able to answer your feedback in a profound manner. We are extremely sorry if we are little blunt in putting our perspective.
Regards
Team Happy Valley

Good presentation of the Tea Factory, including the process of collecting the tea and then exporting the tea outside Darjeeling to other parts of India and even the world. The Tea Garden on the outside was quite beautiful as well and there were tea samples being sold which we bought. My only issues with this place is that the women in the reception replied to me in Hindi even when I spoke in English which was somewhat inconvenient for me as I grew up abroad and not in India (which means I can't speak Hindi fluently) and while they provided tea samples for us to taste, it didn't look particularly hygienic because they didn't provide separate cups/glasses for each individual person to taste the tea samples. But apart from that, was a good experience overall.

Good way to explain the process. Tea Tasting could be better if it's brewed just before tasting. Otherwise the taste doesn't come out in full.

That's the sign that greets you at the main entrance - we didn't go inside the factory - the dilapidated grounds littered with broken machinery and the sign above the door was very off putting. Luckily we had a driver - the uphill walk back to town would have been very annoying!

During Winter you can visit for a short tour and tasting. Tea production happens March- Nov so that would be a more interesting time to visit as you'd see the process in action.
Information about tea was still interesting though.

Interesting to see the factory, still kind of old though, It helps to be there at the right season though, in the spring... Wandering through the fields is nice too, and see the labor conditions :)

You dont have to pre-organise that, just go there. But it depends which day you go there, I think that one or two days it is not completly open. But I dont remember it exactly:/

Thank you for making Happy Valley Tea Estate us part of your Darjeeling itinerary.
Happy Valley Tea Estate is situated approx 3 km from the heart of Darjeeling city. We would recommend you to take a cab to reach the factory and gardens, however we do have guests who love walking down to our teas estate and factory.. You can click pictures at our picturesque tea gardens.
At Happy Valley Tea Factory we conduct guided tours by our in-house guides. The tour starts from within the Happy Valley factory premises. It includes a brief history on Darjeeling tea industry and the Organic & Bio-dynamic farming practices followed at the tea garden. The tour covers the entire tea making process of plucking, withering, rolling, fermentation, drying, sorting and grading of tea.
The tour ends with a tea tasting session where one gets to taste different varieties of Darjeeling tea.
Please feel free to call us at +91 8017700700 in case of further queries.

Hello!
Thank you for making us part of your Darjeeling itinerary. In December we will not have plucking or processing, but we do show visitors the machines in running condition, as a demonstration. Looking forward to telling you the magical story of Darjeeling Tea!

We are visitiing the Happy Valley Tea Estate on October 22nd and we are wondering if they will still be picking tea? As well as the tour of the factory, are there any scenic walks close by, and how long would it take to walk back to the Mall?
Many thanks in anticipation

Dear Matisse,
We are delighted that you're visiting Darjeeling and Happy Valley Tea Estate! Tea plucking and production does happen in October, our plucking happens on a schedule and in different parts of the estate. The Factory Tour starts from 9am till 4:30pm. Please feel free to call us at 080177 00700.
The Estate is a 30-40 minute walk downhill from the celebrated Darjeeling Zoo whose campus also houses the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute. The entire stretch is very picturesque. From the mall, the zoo is about a 40 minute walk. The walk from the mall to Happy Valley Tea Estate is around an hour. You can also drive down from the mall and then walk down to the factory from the main road (a 15 minute walk) through the tea garden with is a very beautiful walk.
There are local taxis you can also hire and drive right into the garden and park near the factory.
