‪Awesome Costa Rica birding trip with Peregrinus Expeditions‬

‪Amazing trip with Cristhian Urena. We went for 2 weeks with him and amassed over 400 species of birds. Cris uncanny repertoire of bird calls (he mimics them perfectly!) and knowledge of birds, plus his amazing ability to locate the birds contributed immensely to the success of our trip. Logistically, the trip went without a hitch and food and accomodation was excellent. Thoroughly recommend Cris if you are heading Costa Rica for birding. Not a moment of dullness!‬

‪We recently made a 12-day birding trip through Costa Rica with our guide, Cristhian Ureña, who is clearly a true lover of nature and birds in particular.
Not only is he an exceptionally good guide with an incredible knowledge of birds and other animals, and an uncanny ability to spot birds and local fauna, but he is also a very nice guy!
No question was ever too much, all our special requests were fullfilled (if at all possible), and the whole tour was organized pretty well.
Cristhian's ability to mimick specific bird calls is really spectacular: on many occasions without his calls we would never have seen these rare and shy birds at all! Highly Recommended!
Thank you Cristhian, we hope we can do another trip with you some time in the future.‬

‪Wow, what an experience‬

‪Peregrinus was recommended and our group was not disappointed. Chris is an exceptional ornithologist and naturalist and local Costa Rican. Totally willing to share his knowledge and information about his country. He has an uncanny ability to spot birds and local fauna. He has good connections for other local guides, soda lunch stops with feeders and booked us into very nice accomodations. He set up an amazing trip for us. Thank you Chris‬

‪Bird Photography in Costa Rica‬

‪During 3 weeks tof February 2023 he DOF Travel group clicked some 440 species due to the skilled guidance of Chris, taking us to almost any prime birding sites of Costa Rica.

As a bird photographer, unfortunately the shooting oportunities - especially those in the vicinity of bird feeding, where one may get close to the birds -- were rather rare. So I "only" managed to leave CR with some 35.000 RAWs. A few of these, though, are of excellent quality.
As a first time CR experience this tour was perfect as a preparation for a more specialized bird photo tour.

‪Cristhian was our guide for a customized week long trip. His profound knowledge and enthusiasm for the natural world is impressive. He made sure everyone in our 4 person group was able to see the bird he pointed out and we had also lots of opportunities for pictures. The trip was well organized and everything worked out. Cristhian is very professional, an excellent birder, humorous and personable. We couldn’t have wished for a better guide we, had an excellent experience.‬

‪Outstanding Experience with Peregrinus Expeditions!‬

‪Oh my word, it does not get any better than birding with Cristhian Ureña! He sees and hears everything. He is a bird whisperer. He is also a gifted biologist. He very probably knows 5,000 some bird songs, flight calls, alarm calls, fledgling calls, from every species in Costa Rica and in adjacent countries. He is such a thoughtful, calm, kind personality; it is no wonder the birds and other wildlife are thoroughly comfortable around him. He knows so much about not just the avian world, but the various Costa Rican topography, geological history, landscapes and so much about the flora and fauna that creates these intricate, complex and unique natural habitats. He realized that I was booking someone a bit late for a summer trip, and that it might be hard to find someone, and he literally drove across the country to bird two full days with me on the west coast, staying overnight near our resort so that we could we could be up at dawn and out birding. 110 new species in 7 days! I was sky high! And we saw sooo many gorgeous amphibians, mammals, reptiles, and others. He also happens to know many other guides in the area, and works flexibly with them, so he knows exactly who to recommend for particular types of outings. He recommended a second guide to me who contracts with his group, Santiago, who also had thorough knowledge of the habitat and species of the area. I cannot recommend Peregrinus Expeditions enough! I already want to go back and absorb more.‬

‪3 weeks of excellent birding in Costa Rica with Cris as our guide (a group of 13 people)‬

‪I cannot find anything negative to say at all.

Cris is so very talented. He knows all the birds, where to find them, how to plan and organize a 3 weeks trip around the country to absolute satisfaction.
He found all the birds I was hoping to photograph.

We were a mixed group of photographers and birdwatchers, not an easy task to satisfy the different wishes for approaching the birds.
(photographers close up and plenty of light and for birdwatchers ok to see birds in dark forest and treetops..)
But he succeeded in finding us the places and opportunities to both using the binoculars and the camera succesfully.

Chris is a very nice and thoughtful guy and very dedicated to nature conservation.
I wish the best for him and his family and his beautiful country.‬

‪Una gran ruta con un gran guía.‬

‪Hicimos una ruta de varios días con Cristian recorriendo varios parques y áreas naturales de Costa Rica.
Magnífico guía, con el que pudimos observar gran cantidad de especies de aves y disfrutamos de la impresionante naturaleza de este pais.
Totalmente recomendable!‬

‪A fantastic day tour from San Jose‬

‪I did a one-day bird watching tour from San Jose with Cristhian while I was here for work. I was desperate to get out of the city and see some Costa Rican birds for hte first time in my life. He took me to an off-the-beaten track location where we saw 9 species of humming birds and several other beautiful and endemic species. He was extremely thoughtful and knowledgeable, and it was a thoroughly fantastic day. He was able to locate and point out birds I never in a million years would have been able to spot myself, and seeing them through his birding scope was amazing.‬
