‪No dark and dusty small town museum here! Everything is brand new. The executive director, Cherie Koss led our small group tour. We began with a stunning introductory film about the lower Verde Valley. The film's breathtaking photography alone is worth the trip. But don't miss the top-notch interactive displays and interpretive elements. The fascinating natural wonders, beautiful wildlife and colorful historic characters make for a very entertaining hour.

We also appreciated the thoughtfully curated gift store stocked with locally resourced artisan crafts. Original paintings, photography, jewelry, books, candles, weavings - gifts in every price category.

After the museum we spent another hour strolling through the sculpture garden with a magnificent view of the fountain - a fabulous place to watch the sunset. Highly memorable!

No trip to Fountain Hills is complete without a visit to The River of Time Museum!‬

‪The River of Time Museum has exhibits on the Verde Valley's Formation and history that includes the experiences of the Yavapais Native Americans. The Museum is open Thursday through Saturday form 9 AM till Noon. Oct. through May, 10 AM to 4 PM. It is closed Sunday and Monday. Tickets are $4 for seniors, $5 for adults and $3 for children. It is adjacent to the local library and easy to find on 12901 N. La Montana in Fountain Hills. It is a neat museum with lots of scenes of past experiences of the locals that goes back hundreds of years ago.‬

‪There is a standard fee of $5/person. They do offer some special rates. It is a small museum and a gift shop. They do have a volunteer docent to walk you through it. It shares the building with the library. Outside near the parking lot is the community gardens. There are also some statues outside.‬

‪I was quite impressed with the tour given by Docent John. While small, the museum covers a lot of info about the people and land of what is now Fountain Hills. There is a well done display on water and how AZ gets its water and even an exact small replica of the fountain that will go of of you push a button. It gives information about the Indians who inhabited the land first and has a nice display. It goes on to Fort McDowell and the P Bar ranch tho what is Fountain Hills today, including the man who founded Phoenix and his eclectic life. To many other things to describe but please go and visit this well done museum.‬

‪This museum is a gem. You can learn about the history of the Lower Verde River Valley and life in Fort McDowell when the military occupied the area. Learn about the importance of water to the area, about the amethyst in Four Peaks and the abandoned Dixie Mine. Find out what it was like at the old P-Bar Ranch before the town was built. Learn about the importance of Roosevelt Dam for this area, and why it was so important that the Orme Dam project was abandoned. The museum also offers educational programs throughout the year, including a summer camp for elementary students.‬

‪The Fountain Hills Library and Museum are housed in the same, very attractive, building. So it is a two-for-one venue. My wife and I visited both the Museum and spent time in the Library using the internet. We even got ourselves Library Cards for the Maricopa County Library District.

It costs $4 dollars per person to visit the Museum. One of the volunteers took us by-the-hand and personally showed us through the Museum. It is laid out so you can see the museum by walking through it on a one-way route so to speak.

We enjoyed it a lot.‬

‪This museum is very small. Does not talk much about the town itself. It does refer to a dam that was almost built before the city became what it is today. There are other more interesting things to do in town.‬

‪Yes, you can walk about this museum and read the info, but touring this museum with a docent is REALLY worth your time. Ours was John O'Reilly. Just when you think you can't bear one more fact, he hits you with something that piques your interest, taking the story full circle. Very interactive. Who knew? If you want to know Arizona history, especially as it relates to water here in the desert, this museum is a must visit.‬

‪small but cute, gives a good overall view of the State's history. Nice little gift shop too. Certainly can recommend. it's same entrance as Library and Community Center across the street. The little park with the statues is good too. Worth a stop.‬

‪I was disappointed in the changes that have been made in this previously all-encompassing and fascinating local museum. Billed as describing the geographic and cultural history of the Fountain Hills area, it has shrunken it's coverage at both ends of the historical timeline, emphasizing less of the native peoples and showing none of the early history of the town itself.‬
