I had expected more from this art gallery. What I found was a very commercialised set-up with very high prices and I thought to myself how much of this price actually reaches the pocket of the artist.

This gallery is in Rosebank close to Keyes art mile and is very trendy and has good paintings ,good for a visit

Well displayed and excellently described in a comprehensive brochure. This exhibition spotlighted the world class botanical artists South Africa has.

Everard Read is one of the most well established galleries in South Africa, with branches in Cape Town, London and this one in Rosebank, Johannesburg, in what is becoming established as the Keyes Avenue Art Mile. There is always something interesting - this is probably the best place in Joburg to see established and up and coming South African artists' work. The work tends to the traditional in that it's usually figurative - more modern work can be found across the road at Circa, also belonging to this gallery and a fabulous building well. Right next door is Marble restaurant - well worth a visit too. First Thursdays on this stretch of road are worth a visit.

When I was there, the key exhibition was botanical art. Very beautiful. Otherwise, the other stuff was pretty quirky.

The exhibition will be mind boggling for any young uninitiated South African.

This property consists of an old house in Rosebank with the gallery added on. When I was there the Walter Voights exhibition was on the go. Good paintings, high price. The other exhibition was the posthumous exhibition of Roswitha von Glehn, Looked like minimalist lines for lots of money.
