The initial booking experience a month ahead of our excursion was excellent for 8 of us to go on this special family reunion trip including the company's agreement to provide a discount as we were a large group. I flagged at the time and again on several occasions that the full pick-up address was not detailed on the invoice several times/passed on my cousin's details as she lives locally for any queries as I do not have an international calling plan. I also advised that I needed to things to go smoothly for my aunt and uncle who were accompanying us as they are in their 80s. These essential full address and my cousin's contact details were not passed onto our lovely driver/guide Shumba so he was 40 minutes late arriving (my sister had to flag him down on the road) and we left almost an hour after our planned departure time of 8.30am. There was then a further 40 minute delay in the heat as the company had not organised/paid for the permit for us to get into Pilanesberg. Shumba was a great guide when we finally managed to get into the park.
These two significant delays left the whole day rushed and we were frantically trying to make up for lost time which really upset us as we had our my elderly aunt and uncle with us who struggled to rush.
Lunch was included in the package costs but we had to have a very rushed lunch with only time for the cheapest thing on the menu (toasties) rather than being able to avail of the full menu but the hotel staff were wonderful and got the food out quite fast to us. We had problems with our check-in into the hotel as there was another incorrect name on the list the hotel had from the company. Due to all the knock-on delays, we had to push back our late afternoon drive by 45 mins.
At this stage at approximately 3pm as the organiser of the family trip I reached out to my initial company contact (a senior member of staff) to say we were upset and not very happy with all the delays/lack of essential information not being passed on.
My What App then filled with a torrent of abusive comments and name-calling and the repeated threat of cancelling our pre-paid transfer back to Jo'burg the next day. I was scared and concerned how I would get people back as we were nearly three hrs from Jo'burg and advised him of this but the aggressive threats continued with no confirmation that the return mini-bus would be sent. This ruined the evening drive and early morning drive for me as I was so anxious but could not share the issues and concerns with the majority of my party due to their ages. I emailed the main office overnight who assured me at 8.30am after I returned from the morning drive that the the bus would be sent at 11am. I was so relieved to see it when it came and Thomas our guide on day 2 was as wonderful as Shumba. We saw so many beautiful animals over the 2 days and the sunset and sunrise over Pilanesberg were magnificent but all the joy of the trip for me and several of the party who were aware of the vile threats was ruined. I will never book/recommend this company again and am in the process of filing an official complaint.

Simple to book, all questions answered promptly, easy payment system and a very well organised trip. Lush lodge lived up to its name and the only downside was that we were only there one night
Thanks to MoAfrika, everything ran smoothly. Clement was so friendly, knowledgeable and interesting to talk to and went out of his way to make sure we saw as many animals as possible on "the closed vehicle drive"
Cpho and Alex were amazing and made sure the end of our trip was as enjoyable as the beginning
Lavender, who booked our stay was lovely too

Our driver was very friendly. He picked up us on time and explained how the day was gonna be. He assured us all the time and was very attentive with our questions. When we go to the Village, we had an amazing and very interesting day, full of activities and our favorite time was the Boma Dance. We had an amazing lunch!! So delicious. Our guide gave us all the time in the world to have lunch and do some gift shopping. 10/10!!

Learned so much!!!! This was a wonderful way to learn and see the history of Joberg!
Our guide was exceptional!
He also organized a last minute tour for us for the next day as our flight time had changed.

Logistics to catch in hotels without logic. Strong speed for a family walk. I don't indicate the risk. The museum was also closed.

This was an excellent tour and can’t speak highly enough about the driver NTSIENI aka Shumba who picked us up and gave us a mini overview of ZA, Joburg & Soweto before the tour started. This prepped us well and then when the Soweto tour started our guide Tinyiko was both informative and had us laughing all the way with his great sense of humour & infectious laugh. A great highlight was the visit to the Soweto child care with gorgeous kids who sang us a welcome song.
Please also Tinyiko organised our return transport with Thomas another driver to get us back to the airport safely in with ample time to catch our flight home.
I would highly recommend MoAfrika for a Soweto tour.

I'd like to take my mother on this tour, but she has a knee problem - Are there wheelchairs for rent available soI could take her around for a spin through Soweto?

I don't have the answer. But, much of the tour of Soweto can be seen from the van. You may not want to use the wheelchair on the dirt path for part of the Soweto tour. If you have a wheel chair, the two museums appear to accommodate wheelchair access.

Hi, I'd like to see Soweto but am.unsure whether to book the full day Soweto cum.Apartheid Museum tour or just the half day Soweto Tour. Which one would get you into the Hector Pietersen Museum? And would you pick.me up from Rosebank? I'd like to go on Friday 4 May, thanks.

They picked us up in Rosebank both days. Second day we were dropped off at airport. I would encourage Apartheid museum. If you don’t do it with MoAfrica, you can do it on your own. Uber is very efficient and inexpensive. Ask MoAfrica about Pietersen museum, we were unable to go inside. MoAfrica is great with their chat, so you should get a prompt reply.

Hi there.
So Moafrika does definitely operate in the rain.
Usually, we have seasonal rain and thundershowers in South Africa. We do sometimes get those overcast and rainy days, but that's the best time to go out on game drives. Animals do tend to be more active when it's cooler and you'll see a lot more activity. You'll also get the best photo opportunities as you won't need to worry about shadows etc.

Hi, question regarding the Soweto tours.... reading the tour descriptions it says that it drives past a lot of things, eg Mandelas House and Desmond Tutu’s house. Do they stop so you can have a look and take photos or is it all drive by viewing which isn’t really how I like to see things. Thanks in advance.

Hi , Moafrika Tours our guides are local from soweto . They take you to many places not all on the Itinerary and you can stop where ever you like. Our guides are trained to be flexible and will stop for a quick photo where ever you like.The do always stop at certain highlights and again anywhere you like as we want you to get the most out of your tour.We do not include Mandela House in our Rate mainly because it comes with a high cover charge R80 per person for a 20 min tour. It is optional and time is allocated if you want to go inside and enjoy it. The rest of the places are all included.hope this is helpful
