We had a fantastic day with Barry on our Durban Safari. Went to Tala game reserve and it was amazing. Barry is so knowledgeable and a great tour guide. He was right there as we got off the ship and we were off to see animals. Wonderful day. If you only have a day to see the animals, you can't go wrong. If you have more than a day...how could you go wrong.

Amazing tour, Thank you Paul!!
Booked the three day/two night tour of Hluhluwe Imfolozi and it was a trip of a lifetime.
First night stay at Emdoneni Lodge which was absolute luxury, amazing food and company. Second night stay at the Hill Top Camp, which in all honesty needs a little TLC, but again, amazing food.
The Cat Experience at Emdoneni will live with me forever. Being in the enclosure with these big cats is surreal. Its certainly something to experience and be educated on what they are doing to protect these majestic animals.
The tour itself... Paul was very knowledgeable and had a knack for knowing where to find the wildlife. 4 of the big five seen on every tour, just the elusive Leopard...
As we were the only passengers, we felt very lucky to have Paul and his expert guidance to ourselves. The whole trip was fluid and we went with his recommendations on when to do certain activities and even with the very early starts (early bird, gets to see the lions!!) overall it was the best experience!

We did a shore excursion for 4 people to Tala Safari & Valley tour which included the Zulu village. Pick up & drop off at the ship. We found the company had great communication before our tour. Our driver Barry was very knowledgeable with Tala & also has history of the valley. A good clean van & a lovely goodie bag to keep us fed with snacks. The tour also included a drive through the city & beach area. We felt like we had seen a great deal of Durban in our short visit. We highly recommend them.

Booked with John, who is apparently UK based, for theTala Game Reserve day tour in late March.
The tour was actually in a standard Toyota car, not a 4x4 or SUV. This meant we were low down below long grass level and the car could not go down any of the 4x4 tracks meaning we had a limited game viewing experience.
Check before you book that an appropriate vehicle for game viewing will be used.

I would like to offer my apologies for the type of vehicle used on your tour. As mentioned in my email to you, your original guide and vehicle became unavailable the day before your tour. A new guide and vehicle were put on for your tour lastminute, in order to not cancel your tour at short notice. The vehicle used, will not be used for any tour going forward. After speaking to your guide, I understand you did have a good time in general on tour, with the vehicle being the only issue. As mentioned in my email to you, the offer of a complimentary safari should you return to Durban stands.
With regards to me being UK based. Yes I am currently based in the UK. I was born and lived most of my life Durban. I completed my field guide training in 2003 on Grietjie Private Nature Reserve, just outside of Kruger National Park. I have a colleague in Durban who carries the South African mobile phone. This gives the option to contact us on two seperate numbers. Many guide owned businesses in South Africa are not able to respond to inquires in a timely manner, due to being on safari and having limited to no phone network. The majority of the positive reviews received here comment on my ability to respond to emails, calls, messages and social media quickly and efficiently.
Once again thank you for your review and apologies for the vehicle used.

I am on a cruise and had a two-night trip booked with Durban Safaris (along with five other friends), picking up in Mozambique and dropping off in Durban. Unfortunately, two days before the trip I came down with Covid and I was not allowed to leave the ship. Although it was beyond the cancelation period, John was quick to respond and immediately refunded my full payment while the rest of the group continued on... and had a fabulous time!! I would highly recommend using Durban Safaris!

Have used Durban Safaris three times now and each time has been fantastic.
The guides provided are very knowledgeable - Paul was our latest and he takes fabulous pictures!!! John who we book through makes the process very easy. Would definitely recommend.

Fabulous safari experience! We couldn't have asked for a better guide with Paul. His knowledge and his personality enhanced the experience even more.
Paul picked us up from our cruise ship in Mozambique and drove us to the camp(about 5 hours). After the long drive he could've sent us to our chalets & would have been done for the night, but he didn't. Instead he had us all hop into the open air safari vehicle and showed us the park and lots of amazing animals! Paul made sure we got the most out of the safari we could and made us feel like he was enjoying it just as much as we did!
The process of booking (& rebooking) was smooth without any issues and quick responses!

Paul our guide was the best we have ever had in our world travels. He felt like a very knowledgeable friend not just a guide. The two night safari was beyond our expectations and he went out of his way to ensure we all had a great experience. Highly recommended for an off the ship excursion or even a land tour.

Our guide Paul was a wealth of information! He knew the park like the back of his hand. We saw Rhinos, zebras, impalas, buffalo, giraffe and more! A day I’ll remember forever.

From my initial email inquiry, through to making my booking John Kearney was friendly informative and professional. We agreed pickup location, time and price, with payment being made in cash on the day of our trip, we were also given the option of paying by credit card. We booked our Safari with a pick from St Richards Bay, after our cruise ship call to Durban was cancelled. Our driver Paul was friendly, informative and a master at spotting game. He had infinite patience and skill in maneuvering the vehicle, to give us the best views of the animals. Our safari pick up was at 9.00am and we were returned at 6.45pm, there is facility within the game reserve for a lunch stop if required. We returned to our ship at the end of a fabulous days Safari and have no hesitation in recommending DURBAN SAFARIS
