Visiting the Durban Botanic Gardens, I will highly recommend taking the golf cart tour. The guide is very knowledgeable and engaging! Our boys, ages 8 and 9, were entertained and learned a lot while having fun.

Beautiful, peaceful and serene outing for the day.
Tour guide Vishnu was very knowledgeable about the history and abundance of botany at this garden.
We even scored a some excellent photo opportunities as well.
This is truly an underestimated experience in Durban.
Highly recommended to families.

We had a great time here. We took our time to look around and enjoyed a relaxed pace. There are some amazing plants some of which are very rare!
If you want there is a nice guide who will take you around in a golf cart. Great if you are short of time. There was a nice coffee cart where we had lunch too...... YMMV

Se ama natureza, não deixe de visitar este jardim. Reserve 3 horas minimo para ter um bom aproveitamento da visita. Tem uma enorme variedade de plantas e arvores, algumas gigantes.

On our one day visit to Durban we visited the Durban Botanic Gardens and as we had limited time we did a guided tour of the Gardens with Vishnu as our guide and driver (he drove us around the gardens in a golf buggy which was convenient due to some rain. Vishnu was passionate about the plants and he was very, very knowledgeable. I believe we saw all the major highlights including some hidden gems you wouldn’t know about if you walked around the gardens without a guide. We really appreciated Vishnu’s expertise and highly recommend that this is the very best way to see the Gardens! Thankyou Vishnu!

Muy bonito lugar, mejor que el de johannesburgo.
Animales bonitos y una flora preciosa. Recomendado.

We went to check out the botanical garden on a Sunday and it turned out to be the highlight of our day. So refreshing and interesting - highly recommend going for the 30 minute guided tour on the caddy - our guide Vishnu made the trip for us, witty and knows the botanical garden extremely well! Great experience overall!

The gardens are wonderful. Filled with indigenous vegetation and many plant varieties that we did not know existed.

10/10 my visit consisted of a mission to photograph many of the Fauna and Flora, most enjoyable and relaxing. Will certainly return there during the middle of Summer.

We enjoyed a fun-filled guided tour and relaxing among the trees, despite the damp conditions (BEFORE the great floods of April 2022). There is so much to see and satisfy the casual visitor or the botanical expert. A little more care of some gardens would enhance the place and one part was off limits due to excess water and maintenance, but this place is so photogenic. Staff were so helpful and we felt safe. Nice bird life too.

Times will be on website. 3 hours max is needed if you going to have crumpets and tea. Transport use Uber

Yes you can and plenty of parking do try the crumpets with cream and syrup

Entry to the Durban Botanical Gardens is free but you pay R50 per person for the Trail of Lights - absolute bargain!
