It looks like this hotel is in serious financial problems. The entrance is chained and from what I've heard utility bills have not been paid. A shame because it has so much potential and it's what Margate needs.

Visited the sky bar and enjoyed the great views. Staff were very friendly. The service was slow, but when my cocktail arrived I was pleasantly surprised, well prepared...worth the wait. After the initial long wait, the waitress was then very attending and friendly. Will go and enjoy another drink high in the sky.

We went for drinks at the Skybar on my birthday. What I like about the place is the magnificent view of the Indian ocean coastline from the roof. You can have beautiful views of the sunset from there. They have comfortable sofas on the deck where you can chill and relax and enjoy a sundowner or your favourite drink. Great place to go as a couple or to meet up with friends. Highly recommended. Worthy of a visit when in Margate at the Desroche's Hotel in Margate CBD.

This place is very poorly run, I booked Christmas lunch 5 weeks before Christmas and phoned to check a second time then they phoned me back to confirm that the booking was fine. We arrived on the day to find we didn't have a booking, well after a few unpleasantries we had a table. The food was poor, with no flavour or taste, messy, empty serving dishes not filled just really not good. The dessert ran out and they didn't know if there was more. The staff tried there best but they are so under trained it's a shame. The view and setting is stunning but that's about as far as it goes. Go there for a drink but nothing more.

Great view. Great service. Friendly staff. Food priced at reasonable rates. View bit blocked by sea spray on windows. Needs constant cleaning

beautiful view and setting but very expensive and poor service - you can have lunch which is well prepared and tastes good - the place gets very noisy from time to time

We went to the Skybar for a sundowner late one afternoon. Staff was friendly-enough, but not very eager to attend to us. Music a bit too loud - maybe the reason why the staff could not hear what en when we needed something. We realize that they might cater for a certain age-group, but if you invite your hotel-guests to make use of your facility, it would be appreciated if they could really cater for more different types of patrons.

Spent the weekend at the hotel so used the Skybar for a late afternoon lunch and cocktails. Took a while to get a menu but once we were attended to drinks were yummy and food delicious. Bar staff very friendly. Nicely set out , spacious inside for adverse weather and outside really lekker chill spot in good weather.

Good vibes. Had my fill from a wide range of cocktails and service was just great. Chill to some awesome local sounds with the best pina colada in town. The view is nice, too.

Had a company event held here, the Ugu Jazz after party, hosted by Ciroc.
It was a good experience. but hotel needs some proper trained staff who work fast.
overall good experience.
would love to come back and try out the food next time.
