Very interesting visit to the Stellenbosch Village museum. We loved the friendly staff in the traditional clothes and great stories and facts.

An interesting museum to visit with nice info on the beginnings of the town and its history. Enjoyed seeing the 4 different houses and the guides were very knowledgeable.

Loved this museum, walking through the cool four houses on a hot day with informative guides was a relaxing and enjoyable afternoon experience. Well worth it to get away from the hurly burly which you soon forget is only feet away.

Ik hou van geschiedenis dus deze toch is zeker een aanrader! 4 huizen worden open gesteld elk in hun eigen tijd aangekleed. Het vertelt de geschiedenis over Stellenbosch en hun manier van leven/wonen. Bij elk huis is er een persoon aanwezig die gekleed is in de klederdracht van toen en die wat uitleg geeft bij het desbetreffende huis. Leuk om te zien en interactief om te bezoeken.

Het museum bestaat uit 4 huizen met in ieder huis een dame in kleding uit een ver verleden die vertelt over de geschiedenis op een leuke manier , heel interessant om alles eens goed te bekijken en de entreeprijs is maar 50 ramt

We wanted to visit the museum but after driving around the wider area twice, there was simply no parking. What a pity !! Why not have dedicated parking for the visitors to the museum ?

So informative and friendly, and we'll presented!
We went during the loadshedding but despite a lack of power the ladies in the period houses did wonderful jobs of informing us of the houses and answering and and all questions we had!
My only regret was we didn't get to see the last house as we had to rush off! So sad!
Would absolutely reccomend, such a good time!

The Village Museum is well worth a visit if you are in Stellenbosch. The museum preserves articles of local historical interest. There is a small entrance fee which gives access to four buildings close to the museum. The houses were built between 1709 and 1850. Each has furniture of the period and is tended by a lady dressed in period costume. They give you a brief overview of the property and answer questions.

This museum shows buildings in and outside of the Dutch colonial period. It shows how colonialists lived at that time. In several of the houses is a guide, who gives short explanations in English or Afrikaans. I was really impressed by this museum.

Midden in Stellenbosch vind je dit museum verdeeld over vier huizen. In elk huis wordt een ander tijdperk opgeroepen, en telkens wordt je ontvangen door iemand die iets verteld over dit huis en wie er gewoond heeft. Het geeft op een interessante manier een goede indruk van hoe het dagdagelijkse leven hier was enkele eeuwen geleden. Het bezoek neemt ongeveer 1h30 in beslag.
