Unless you go on a Sunday when there is a huge flea market, don't bother. I was looking at a leather belt the seller told me he made himself, then I noticed a stamp on the back that said American Eagle Outfitters which is a chain store in the US.

Possibly the highlight of our visit to Buenos Aires. The square has bars and cafes around, market stalls and regular Tango dances, a real must see

Located in the heart of the neighbourhood San Telmo, this verdant, (leafy) square comes alive on weekends with an open air market, there is also tango happening, which is excellent.

Siempre es un placer ir a ella y sentir su latido con su música, antigüedades, artistas, cafés, etc. Es el centro del barrio y en donde se dan cita más visitantes. Es imprescindible conocerla

É uma praça super "simpática" e fotogênica. Além disso, tem vários bares em volta e artistas de rua contando e tocando seus instrumentos. Quando fui, comprei um sorvete no Freddo e fiquei ali sentindo a vibe do lugar e observando o vai e vem das pessoas. Andar pelo bairro de San Telmo é uma parada obrigatória no seu roteiro.

When I visited Plaza Dorrego, it was on a bright, lively Saturday (or Sunday? I forget), and the weekly arts/crafts fair was ongoing. What a pleasant surprise to see! I was only trying to arrive at my hotel, but I ended up spending time wandering the plaza and enjoying the vendors. I could tell this public area is a gem for the neighborhood community, both during the festivities and during the workweek.
Its proximity to the San Telmo Market means there should be little excuse for travelers to check this plaza out. It’s safe, clean, and cozy!

Para quem não pode/quer pagar para assistir um show de tango, muitas vezes na praça Dorrego há casais de dançarinos que fazem apresentações e recolhem gorjetas. Boa pedida sentar por ali e assistir.

Oi Alessandra, vale a pena sim. Fomos numa terça-feira, e estava relativamente tranquila, então não precisava esperar muito pra ser atendido. Em compensação, não havia artistas de rua dançando ou fazendo algum outro tipo de apresentação, e também não tinha camelôs. Acredito que essas coisas só "rolam" nos finais de semana.

Take D Southeast to Catedral 13 min (9 stops)
Then I would walk South along the West edge of Plaza de Mayo
Then walk East on the South edge of Plaza de Mayo to Defenza
Then walk South on Defenza to the Plaza Dorengo about 10 blocks
You will pass the Museo Franciscano, Basilica de San Francisco, Convento de San Francisco, Museo Nacional de Grabado, and the Iglesia y Convento de Santo Domingo - which you could visit along the way, and sit and rest while enjoying the art and architecture

Ask to make a reservation, and ask them about the market on New Years Day.
