The Rose Garden has been on my to-do list for a long time. This is the peak time for the roses, the scent was intoxicating! A sweet lady, who was dead heading the roses, told me that there will be roses blooming though out the year, except the first couple of months, when the bushes are trimmed low for new growth. It's like a public park, so no admission cost and perfect for photos shoots!

Located along Southern Avenue, the roses are planted on both sides of a wall with easy walking paths. There are many places to sit down and surprisingly lots of shade. When we visited (in late October), we were pleased to see that many of the roses were blooming. Some of the beds featured one variety of rose or maintained a specific color scheme (such as all white, all yellow, etc). Other beds contained a variety of roses/colors. There are also several Kapok (Ceiba) trees that were blooming. We have seen these trees in countries south of the U.S. before but never in bloom.

The 9,000 rose plants in full bloom was not what I expected to find in Arizona. As a rose lover this was a terrific surprise and in early April it was in its' full glory. Easy parking at least for now when the community college appeared to be closed

What a beautiful collection of roses. The colors, variants and area is very beautiful. There were quite a few homeless people enjoying the shade but we were there during the day so I did not feel threatened.

We visited hoping to see the roses in bloom and were happily surprised. Lots of varieties and a nice stroll. Very easy to get to right off Southern.

The rose garden was an unexpected stop during our visit, and we enjoyed it! The layout design is simulataneoisly functional and beautiful! Only about 1/3 of the bushes were in bloom, and I can only imagine how it looks and smells in full bloom!

This rose garden was a lovely surprise, very extensive, so many varieties of colorful roses. It is very natural and casual, there are few walkways, we walked through the grass around the beds of roses. Most of the roses appeared to be just past their prime, although we did see a lot of buds. The fragrance was enchanting! We will definitely return, but April and early May are probably the height of the season. It must take hundreds of volunteers to tend to all the beautiful roses!

This was an amazing place to see for those who enjoy gardens. It has about 8000 rose bushes. There are walking paths through the area to stroll through and enjoy the aroma of the roses. They were in full bloom when we were there.

Over 9,000 rose bushes, and they are at fabulous full bloom now ! Stroll, look,
smell, enjoy the largest rose garden in the southwestern U.S, free to the public !
And tell your friends, neighbors, so many people do not even know about this
wonderful treasure. Bring your camera, and your iphone or cell phone, there are
descriptions of the roses that you can access through your phone, to get a better
awareness of the gardens.

The garden is amazing. It is easier to drive to and soooo much fun to walk through. We were there yesterday -April 7th- all the roses were blooming and the fragrance was amazing. It is hard to pick a favorite one. Thank you to the Mesa community for making such a lovely place to visit.

Daylight hours... it is outside, no gate. The only concern would be to park in visitors spaces since this is a campus. Weekends the campus is quiet, so less concern about where to park. Going to the garden's website is very helpful.

I see that 3 months ago was the best time to see the roses. So would most of the flowers be gone now?

Their website says April/May/June + October/November/December are the best months to see blooming roses here in the Valley of the Sun. Enjoy!
Are professional pictures or wedding pictures allowed at this site?

Of course you can have your picture taken in the Rosegarden. Any kind of picture and no one needs to ask for permission they just need to go there and have their pictures taken. We would love to have you send a picture out on Facebook on our Facebook page and say it is the Mesa community college Rosegarden
I just have a couple questions about your rose garden I was wondering if you guys charge to go in and see it and if so how much you charge for adults and children and if you're allowed to pick a couple roses or if that's against your guyses rules and when's the best time to come and see them when are the most bloomed out you can get back to me as soon as possible thank you

Thank You for the inquiry. There is no charge to visit the
gardens, and everyone is welcome to visit at their leisure.
There are drinking fountains available, especially important
in summer heat.
We discourage picking roses, we want them to be available
for everyone to enjoy. We are just finishing the spring
pruning, so the full bloom season is a month or two away.
There will be blooms to enjoy all summer, with another
bloom season in the fall. Please bring your cell phone, and
call the numbers at each garden, for an explanation of the
roses in each bed.
