There are two locations. I highly recommend this one as it was less expensive and a fantastic experience. We originally planned to hike in ($10), but I had an injured knee and we were running short on time so we decided to take the truck instead ($32). I’m so glad we did! I definitely recommend it even if you are fine hiking, just to save the time. You check in, then drive down a dirt road to a parking lot where there’s a bathroom. We were in a Rav 4 and had no problems. There were people in sedans, but it was the dry season. Wouldn’t recommend a sedan during the rainy season. Then the truck takes you down to a spot between the upper and lower falls where there are more bathrooms. The walk to the upper and lower falls is pretty easy.
The falls itself is absolutely beautiful-even in the dry season. The water at the lower falls is fun to swim in and the temperature is perfect. This company put up a rope to climb up and jump off the falls. They helped people climb up. It was great.

Great morning at the falls - we took the economy 4WD option and didn’t regret missing a long uphill hike in the heat
The trucks take you from the car park or office to a short walk from both upper and lower falls.
Get there by 9am for the best photos before the crowds arrive
Take swimming gear for a refreshing swim under the falls in the lower pool.
Take beach shoes if you have them

Even we love hiking, we did the tour with 4x4 truck in the morning. So we were the first in the water. It was a great expirience.
We also climbed on some of the rocks.

We decided to hike from the parking lot. It was 5 challenging miles in total. The hike there is uphill for the majority. We are in our low 40s and workout daily. There is a stopping spot with beverages for sale in middle. I would probably take the 4x4 vehicle option if I did it over again. Definitely worth the journey the waterfall is beautiful.

Note as you are planning your trip that there are two ways to enter Nauyaca Waterfalls. The one with the big colorful letters “Nauyaca” is the one closest to Dominical. If you are riding to the falls in the 4x4 truck (fun for all!), you can park right off the main road by the office. Make a reservation online before you go, and they will be waiting for you right on time. We were there during the rain, right after a heavy rain, and it was still so impressive, fun, and beautiful! Our family group of 8 were ages 12 to 78, and we fit on one truck together. We could not swim due to heavy current and water flow, but still fun. We stayed an hour— bathrooms available at the falls. Saw many vultures and blue butterflies on the drive there and back. Fun day!

This was our favorite thing that our family did while in Dominical! The tour guys were super attentive, if not totally chatty. We had a 6 yo in the group, and they gave him a great horse and one of the guides stuck with him the whole time. The waterfall was a bit too strong for most of us to actually swim in. But the guide took those who were brave enough to the top to jump off!! The homemade lunch on the way down was the icing on the cake. We had 13 in our group, ages 6-66. This was the one thing that we were able to do in Costa Rica that was enjoyed by all!!

Enjoyed both the upper and lower falls. A provided 20 minute scenic ride to the falls. We were very glad we opted to ride as it was very steep roads. Swimming at the falls was a bonus

My group of 10 decided to walk this mountain to the waterfall. It's 4 kilometers/ 2.5 m to the top. The hike was refreshing and challenging. Two people in my group had some difficulty climbing due to the steep hills and much terrain. I would recommend going on the morning to have time for resting on the walk in order to enjoy the waterfall. Also, if you do minimal activity this walk can be very challenging. The individuals who had difficulty were picked up my the 4x4 to assist them. The drivers were awesome and attentive to them. They did not charge those who were having (visible) difficulties. Overall the waterfall was beautifully majestic. Well work the hike!!

Super matinee avec une équipe très souriante et accueillante. On a fait la balade à cheval jusqu'à la cascade. Où on a pu se baigner et bien profiterbdi cadre et de la cascade. On a eu un super repas le midi dans un très beau cadre. Vraiment à faire

Superbe, belle randonnée pour ensuite se rafraichir dans le bassin des chutes. Prix raisonnable et emporté de l'eau à boire et un picnic.

We had the hotel owners make the arrangements for us. They were also able to get us a discounted rate, as they were very familiar with the owners. They even arranged for pick-up and return transportation to the hotel. I would advise you to check with the lodging staff if possible.

Hello, We booked through Jade Tours-they were fantastic, but we were staying in Manuel Antonio, and the Nauyaca Waterfalls are south of there an hour or so, so from Guancaste - it would be maybe 4 or so hours away, which may be too far. It was fabulous though!! Good Luck!!

Hello- sorry for the late reply- we booked a private transfer as well as the horseback ride to Nauyaca Falls through Jade Tours . They picked us up on our doorstep right on time in Manuel Antonio and drive us to the location where you are given your guide and horse- it was an hour drive from our house- the driver waited for us so it was Primo service- since we were gone 4-5 hours! I think it cost about $170 US including the private transfer - service was amazing and the whole day was spectacular- highly recommend!!! Swimming in the waterfalls is brilliant!

Absolutely!! I am 61- it was spectacular ! The boys are super helpful and kind and patient- do it- you will not regret- you have to ride a horse to see these amazing falls- the walk is do- able but very difficult!

The rider doesn’t need to have any experience - the horses are really mellow and they know the way!

How long is the trip total and how long on horses. I will be in domincal in July where would we meet the trip

The trip is about 5 hours with 21/2 to 3 hour on the horses. You stop for about 45 minutes for a continental style breakfast ( not so great) ride again to the water falls and walk down a trail and stairs to a beautiful waterfall and swimming hole. We were there for maybe an hour or more. There is a place to change into a bathing suit. This part was great. Returned to the place where we had breakfast for a lunch (not great) and then rode back. We did other horse back riding in Costa Rica that was much better. Here there were no helmets and the horses were not well trained. We both grew up in Kansas and have been around horses a lot. The falls are beautiful and worth seeing. Maybe as part of a tour they are more careful with their guests.
