During a river cruise from Budapest to Germany I decided to bike from Brataslava to Vienna. I had read about the Freedom Bridge so I decided to go this way rather than the standard Donauradweg. It is definitely worth seeing. There is a nice park on the Slovak side to take a rest. The view of the Schloßhof palace in the distance on the Austrian side is impressive.
I found it interesting that this seems to be the only connection between Slovakia and Austria for quite a distance each way.

Všetko je ozaj rajom pre cyklistu- prostredie, cyklochodníky, vybavenie, okolité pamiatky v Rakúsku aj na Slovensku a táto spojnica moderne vybudovaná dáva široké možnosti. Trocha náročnejšie stúpanie ale dá sa zvládnuť, prostredie je balzam na oči a dušu

Mohu jen doporučit. Cyklotrasa velmi vhodná zejména pro rodiny s dětmi. Žádný provoz a velmi nenáročná trať. V okolí mnoho zajímavých míst

Pěkná a pohodová projížďka na kolech od zámku Schloss Hof, přes Most svobody, soutok Moravy a Dunaje až do Bratislavy. Vhodné i pro méně zdatné cyklisty, případně rodiny s dětmi.

Around two thirds of our way into a 60km cycle zigzagging between Austria and Slovakia we crossed this bridge over the Morava River into Slovakia. A simple undulating bridge with a picture of St John of Nepomuk (patron of bridges) at the start (Austria and Slovakia are both catholic countries.)
Once - during soviet era communism - you would have been shot without warning for crossing this river . Now you can cross it at will without even a border or passport control. Poignant , exciting and a wonderful part of the journey

Durch diese Brücke zwischen Österreich und der Slovakei ist eine wunderschöne Rundtour mit dem Rad möglich. Vom Donauradweg kann man ab Bratislava einen sehr schönen Radweg vorbei an der Burg Devin durch die Marchauen fahren, über die Brücke, die auch architektonisch sehr gelungen ist, kommt man nach Österreich zum Schloss Hof. Von hier führt ein gut ausgebauter Radwerg nach Stopfenreuth zurück in die Donauauen. Auf diese Art lässt sich die Radrunde wieder schließen.
Diese Brücke ist auf jeden Fall ein absoluter Gewinn für Radfahrer.

Apparently a local vote suggested the bridge be called chuck Norris bridge but it was rejected in favour of freedom bridge. Easy to get to from Bratislava. 29 bus from under most snp and 30 mins later you are in Devínska. The bridge is a short distance from Devín castle so both could be done in a day. Get off at uhrovecka stop. Cross the road and cut left at the coffee shop. You will see the bridge. Lovely walk across to Austria and the area is full of wildlife. We was 2 nesting storks which was incredible to see. There’s a lovely Austrian chateau you can walk to and some towns nearby. You can also see remnants of the iron curtain. There’s a children’s playground and seated area on Bratislava side and a walking/ cycle route. Buy both bus tickets in Bratislava as we didn’t see machines here. Bus is only 0.90€ each way.

Wir sind von Schloß Hof im Hochsommer gegen Abend über die Brücke in die Slowakei gewandert. Die Marchsümpfe direkt unter uns mit ihrer faszinierenden Flora und Fauna haben uns begeistert.So kann man alles beobachten ohne zu stören. Das Mückenaufkommen war allerdings auch beachtlich,trotzdem war es herrlich. Ich möchte nochmal in diese wunderbar naturbelassene Landschaft.

Sono anni che vengo a DNV e da quando hanno aperto questa straordinaria porta tra i due paesi ci vengo ancora più volentieri. Un' ottima occasione per una passeggiata a piedi o in bici nella splendida campagna austriaca. Da fare assolutamente.
