Paese che merita sicuramente una visita. Strade storiche che conducono alla salita al castello. Bar e ristorantini accoglienti. Una piacevole escursione.

Leuk heel oud stadje. oudste stad van Slovenië. In de zomer regelmatig leuke muziek festivals. Mooi onderhouden kasteel/klooster. Met waanzinnig uitzicht.
Veel leuke en lekkere restaurantjes en zeer prettig geprijsd

Sanja, THE Ptuj Guide, is knowledgeable, personable, and a joy to spend a morning with! TL;DR: If you're visiting Ptuj, absolutely book a tour with Ptuj Guide to start your visit.
Details: My husband and I (in our early 30s) visited Ptuj September 16-18 2017. We were arriving late on the Saturday evening, so I booked a Sunday morning tour with Sanja, the Ptuj Guide. I found her through TripAdvisor, perused her very thorough website, and decided she was worth the risk of trying out even without any TripAdvisor reviews. I booked about 10 days in advance via her website. She responded to me very quickly via email (check your spam if you don't see something from her...my gmail often didn't like Slovenian email addresses!) to confirm the tour and logistics. We were staying in the old part of Ptuj (Hotel Mitra), and she was happy to meet us there at a morning time of our choosing (9am). She was also open to tailoring the tour to our interests (I was a classics major in college, so I was specifically interested in the older history of the city). The cost was extremely reasonable, especially when compared to personalized tours in, say, Ljubljana. A day or two before the tour, Sanja emailed to confirm and provide her phone number. She is very professional, prompt, and clear in her communications.
Day of, Sanja arrived at our hotel right on time. It was rainy/drizzly at that time, so she took us around the corner to the Musikafe for some coffee and to tell us the story of Ptuj. I love that she didn't force us to stand out in the rain while she talked to us, but instead took us to a cozy local place. By the time we finished hearing the full, fascinating (really) history of Ptuj--from ancient times right up to what modern Ptuj is like--the rain had stopped and we were ready for our stroll through town! During our cafe time, she welcomed interruptions and questions and was able to answer everything we asked. Her English is excellent - we're Americans and there were no issues understanding her at all (note that she also works as a translator, so she's great with languages!).
We did a walk through the old city, and she even sneaked us into a couple of churches, even though Sunday masses were in progress. (We were unobtrusive, don't worry!) We saw or went into or had pointed out to us all of the major sights. She was full of recommendations for places to visit during our stay and good places to eat. She never rushed us and was happy to spend the morning with us, extending what was supposed to be a 1 to 1.5 hour tour into 2.5 hours (but for those schedule-conscious people, do not worry - I have no doubt that if we had said we had to be done in 1.5 hours, she would have accommodated us; it was more that we didn't have anything concrete planned for the morning and she was happy to make sure our tour was thorough, which is what we wanted!).
Sanja is a Ptuj native who knows her city inside out. As I said at the beginning, she is THE Ptuj Guide. We highly recommend her tour!

Thank you Elease for a kind praise and review. True, you had time, so I took my time to explain everything as well, otherwise, we would finish in 1,5 hour if we had to. It was nice meeting you and I had a wonderful time as well - when people are genuinely interested I am having a hard time to stop talking about history and art. :)
Best Regards,
Sanja

I have a group touring in Slovenia in October 2018. One of the places we are visiting is Ptuj. We have a driver to show us a round but need a knowledgable tour guide to be in the car with us. How much is the cost for a tour of around 3 hours?

I'm sure Sanja will be in touch with you. If not, you should look her up directly through her site, which you can access through the "Website" link at the top of the tripadvisor listing.. She is very responsive via email.
