Very small but nice amount of information about the local area. Staff very pleasant and informative. Well worth a look. It's free but well worth making a donation.

Small one-room museum that concentrates on Marlow. Professionally run on a shoestring by experts in the Town's history. The exhibits are themed with the current exhibition, but the real enjoyment is in simply asking a question of the team on the day. Participatory action for all ages on summer weekends, but quieter mid-winter - check website marlowmuseum.uk for opening times. In central riverside park with adjacent parking. Starting point for Marlow Society's led history walks in season. Free admission.

Having read good things about this small museum, it was disappointing to find it closed when I visited. The reality is that in the summer it’s only open on weekend afternoons and on Wednesday afternoon. Home to get there at an appropriate time in the future.

The marlow musuem is in a rather small hall but an interesting place neverthelss. The musuem is run totally by volunteers. Entry is free, but donations are welcome
My Kids were happy- they were invited to play the drums in the exhibits
They do change the exhibits is what the volunteers told us
a nice place to get a feel of the local history

Really nice little museum. You could easily walk past it if you didn’t know it was there.
Full of history and interesting reads.
Staff really nice and welcoming.
Had a lovely chat with staff. Would come back again if in Marlow again

We had never been to Marlow so very lucky to find this museum telling the history of Marlow. Nice cafe and toilets. Staff friendly and welcoming and knowledgeable. Learn an awful lots and saved us walking round aimlessly. Pick up leaflets in the foyer about events and things to see.

This was an unplanned short visit whilst in the area, just before the museum closed for the day.
It really is tiny, but the displays are well laid out to make good use of the space.
Its free to visit and manned by very helpful and enthusiastic volunteers .... thank you for keeping it open just that little bit longer on the da to allow for a quick look around.

A pleasant although fairly small museum, to make it more attractive entrance is free. Nice displays highlighting the history of this lovely town. Staff were friendly and helpful. Worth a visit.

A cultural gem that ought not to be one of Marlow's 'best-kept secrets'
What I find truly extraordinary about this small, but significant local cultural centre, is that it receives no funding whatsoever from the Marlow Town Council, in the immediate proximity of whose grand offices it is situated. Instead, it is dependent entirely upon voluntary contributions by the public and is run entirely by volunteers. If I were a town councillor, I'd feel shamed each time I passed by the Marlow Museum.
And what a little gem this is! Alongside more permanent displays relating to Marlow history, the museum regularly hosts exhibitions about more specific topics. Earlier this year I twice visited a superb exhibition devoted to the history of nearby Marlow Bottom. This was clearly a major project and the wealth of detail on display spoke of much diligent research by a dedicated team of volunteers. There was far too much to take in on a single visit, so it was a real pleasure to find an accompanying brochure was available to buy. The current exhibition, 'Marlow Then & Now' also looks most interesting, although I have not yet visited it.
It's a shame that the Marlow Museum's complete dependence upon voluntary helpers means that it is restricted to opening only on Saturdays, Sundays, Wednesdays and Bank Holidays at set times. I trust local schools are aware of the museum; it would make a great place for school visits, still more so with child-friendly commentaries by the knowledgeable volunteers.
I wish I had known of the Marlow Museum earlier, but now it's on my radar I plan to visit on a more frequent basis. Such a cultural centre, staffed by helpful and friendly volunteers, really deserves to be located in larger premises - perhaps inside Marlow Town Council's own Court Garden building. Now, there's a thought for any progressive councillor reading this review ...
