A wonderful experience for anyone with interest in flight. Divided into distinct sections housed in separate hangars, the collection is beautifully displayed with excellent descriptions. The military aircraft hanger is a real highlight but the star of the show must be G-BOAA, the Concorde experience. There’s so much interesting history including airships,
the Avro Vulcan and even a plane used by Guy Gibson VC all set in the tranquil area of the WWI and WWII RAF station that is East Fortune. 3 hours of time well spent, thank you to all the volunteers.

Everything was perfect until we reached the maintenance hanger where we were RUDELY interrupted. We could see some guy was giving a talk so we kept quiet. I whispered in my sons ear and the worked stopped and asked if we mind cos im giving a talk here. Who the heck did he think he was. So RUDE when we were silent. Wont be back.

Visited the National museum of flight back in the summer.
We bought our tickets in advance online as it was £1 cheaper and we thought why not make the saving.
Museum is set out over the old East Fortune airfield. Does require a fair bit of walking but easily accessible for wheelchair users.
The BAC 1-11 and Comet were great to take a look inside and explore. Being able to get up close to the Vulcan Bomber as well was fantastic.
The aircraft in the military and also Civil aviation hangers are fantastic as well and a great selection. All hangers and aircraft inside have a detailed information board with them to tell you all about the aircraft.
The Concorde hanger is good and gives a real understanding of the design and making of the aircraft as well as a free audio if you want.
If looking round old aircraft isn't your thing then the fantastic flight centre has loads of experiments, games and tests you can do to learn about all aspects of flight. This area is great for children and adults as well!
Honestly the flight museum was a fantastic half day out and well worth a visit.
Feel free to check out the full video review of the National museum of flight over on my YouTube channel.

Visited here on a Saturday afternoon in the half term and it wasn't overly busy, member of staff on the gate was really helpful and friendly on arrival. There is so much to see here and a good amount of planes that you can go in and look at, our youngest daughter also really enjoyed the interactive area and the outdoor play area.
Staff and volunteers everywhere were really friendly and helpful and there is a small cafe on site where you can sit in or take drinks away. Also plenty of toilets around the site and most of the park is accessible.
All in all if you're interested in planes it's a must visit if you're in the area!

We have been there 4 times now. I love planes and aviation history. We thought the BA and Dan air planes were never open but when you buy the ticket on the gate you don’t get to see the info board in the gift shop until you choose to go in/ on leaving as we did. It’s a great place but not many changes in 8 years. Love the Concorde- went to the Intrepid in NYC only for it to be closed for moving so to see it here was great. Cafe is nice too.

Myself and my adult son had a fantastic afternoon at the museum, so much space to explore at leisure. What made the trip special were the enthusiastic staff. A massive shout out to Linda and Archie, they were so helpful before and during our visit in giving advice about travelling to the museum. Really thoughtful people!
Enjoyed the conservation talk too.

We paid a visit today and it was so interesting. Seeing Concord was a wow, being able to look inside the cabin was another wow. This exhibition is a must for those interested in aircraft and how it evolved. I love the fact the museum is on a disused RAF World War 2 base as my dad was based at RAF Mareham during the war and it gave me an overall picture of how my dad lived during the war. The curators at the museum were so friendly and extremely helpful. My husband and I spent 3 hours here and loved every moment.

What a gem this place turned out to be. A former RAF station, East Fortune was a fighter station in WW1 and a pilot training unit in WW2. It was also home to the airship R34 which made the first ever return flight across the Atlantic.
There is so much to see within the various hangars that the entrance costs are well worth it. As a senior I paid £12.50.
The main hangars are divided up into Concorde, military, civil and restoration. The museums Concorde is one that was in service with British Airways unlike the pre-production test aircraft at Duxford therefore it has its original in-service fittings. The view of the cockpit is amazing.
Other airfield buildings have been adapted for more display areas, one being an interactive learning centre for children. There are 3 static aircraft outside, a Comet 4C, a BAC 1-11 and a Vulcan bomber. I never used the cafe but it had a good choice of cold and hot food and very reasonably priced.
I only spent three and a half hours there which wasn’t enough so I will be back sometime in the future.

A great value afternoon. Plenty to see and do looking back into East Fortunes past as an RAF station with the added bonus of a Concorde on show. All the staff were knowledgeable and eager to educate and entertain us. I will return.

Thanks for your question.
The site has lots of open ground and an outdoor assault course for children aged 5+ with many wooden obstacles and a zip-line.
There are lots of things for children to do at the Museum including a learning centre exploring the science of flight through hands-on activities. For more information take a look at the Top Ten Things For Kids feature on the museum website (nms.ac.uk/flight).

We welcome dogs of all shapes and sizes outdoors on the site as long as they are kept on a lead. Dogs are not allowed inside the hangar and gallery spaces.
Assistance dogs are welcome in museum buildings and outdoors.
