Was advised before playing that this was just an ok course.. well it was MUCH better than that . A great variety of holes superb views and excellent value for money. It is however a bit of a walk.. so if you are not the fittest toy will need a buggy. would definitely play again.

It was back in the late 90's when I played this course regularly and then it was always in immaculate condition.
Played it two summers ago and whilst the layout was still excellent the condition had deteriorated.
I went again within a party of 8 in August 2015 and I must say its condition from two years ago was actually even poorer.
The first tee box, which is now a Par 4 was raggy and unkempt with grass about two inches long. That was indeed a sign of what lay ahead. Most of the tee boxes were in poor condition. Fairways were equally in below average condition with large areas of buttercups and other flora growing randomly.
The greens were lifeless with no speed in them whatsoever. I couldn't quite believe how bad they actually were. In short this course in its current condition needs decent money chucked at it in order to get it up to scratch. It cannot compete with other nearby courses for quality and value for money until it does.
A real shame as it's layout as Iv'e already alluded to is good.
Nice welcome from both the Pro and the bar staff which brightened up a quite disappointing visit.
Interestingly, apart from a few other folk the course and Clubhouse were deserted.
Nigh on tumbleweed blowing through Whitekirk upon the day of our visit.
I and all other members of my party will not be returning.

A beautifully manicured 'Championship Status' course with fantastic holes and great views over the Firth of Forth, Tantallon Castle & Bass Rock.
This course is a '£25 Pay & Play Bargain' & Buggy Hire is inexpensive at £20. I recommend taking one, it feels longer than it's Yardage & there's no better place to drive them!
Elevated Tees provide great views. Water hazards feature on many holes and with gorse, small greens and an Inward 9 offering 3 really long, tricky Par 5's this course is a fun challenge for any skill level golfer even on a calm day. Greens are immaculate and of an exceptionally high standard, undulating into dips and hollows providing the thrill of not knowing if your ball will end up anywhere near the hole. This course is outstandingly good .. it's challenging but immense fun and unforgettable to play!
The Country Club is welcoming, offers good food at reasonable prices and wonderful views as you eat.
Don't think about it ... Go! You will love it!
