‪Great gardens, terrible café‬

‪Wonderful gardens, I love them so much I have an annual membership card BUT they are seriously let down by their café.
We went in at one o’clock for lunch and had jacket potatoes. You shouldn’t be able to go wrong with a jacket potato we thought. Well you can if it’s barely luke warm and so the cheese didn’t melt into it, there was no butter under the cheese so it was really dry and not an enjoyable lunch.
Everything was served by slightly disinterested teenagers who clearly haven’t been trained in how to do a cappuccino. It is not simply a hot milky coffee, which is what we were served. Also, by the way, good decaffeinated coffee is available these days - you should consider buying some.
I’ll return to the gardens over and over again but I’ll bring my own lunch!

‪We attended the Teddy Bear Picnic, what a great event this was! Gardens are beautiful, cakes lovely, staff is absolutely amazing and very helpful! Thank you for a great day out!‬

‪Midsummer Night’s Production‬

‪Fantastic evening at the Garden House watching Box Tree Productions theatre group perform a light hearted two hour version of Midsummer Night’s Dream on the beautiful lawns of the Garden House with the backdrop of beautiful trees. The cafe was open serving pasties and their normal bites to eat which added to the evening. Really great evening. Thanks to the Garden House and #boxtreeproductions ‬

‪Such beautiful gardens‬

‪We arrived here this morning and renewed our membership for another year. The gardens are a credit to everyone involved and such colour since our last visit. We had a delightful day, having tea and cake in the tea room. All freshly made and well worth the money. There are many benches throughout the gardens if you wish to admire the view. The plant sales are very good value and we have added to our garden with these. On arriving home my husband realised he had dropped his phone in the garden and on ringing the house and leaving a message we were later informed that a young man had kindly handed it in. A sincere thanks to him if he does see this message as unfortunately we did not have a number to personally do this.‬

‪Just in case you can’t find it on website - NO dogs allowed.‬

‪Just reviewing the fact it had no signs for NO dogs at entrance. Struggled to find any reference on website. We were staying up the road in a motorhome so couldn’t leave dog unattended. Glad we didn’t drive far. I think they are missing a trick and excluding a huge amount of visitors by not including dogs on leads or maybe just allowing them in an outside seating area in the cafe which to my mind needs to be a completely separate business and entrance. You have to pay garden entrance each time you want to use cafe it seems. So much potential food and drink business must be lost.
The lady said that people turn up with dogs ALL the time to be turned away. Makes no business sense not to try and accommodate the huge amount of dog owners in some small way or visitors wanting just a cuppa and cake.

‪Another lovely visit.‬

‪We had been to the garden a few times before and it was as lovely as we remembered. Unfortunately they are no longer taking part in the Gardener's World 241 offer so it was a but pricey (£12 each without gift aid) to get in. The gardens are lovely with something for everyone - wildflower meadow, woodland, cottage garden, formal garden, pond etc. There are plenty of places to sit which was very pleasant. There is also a second hand bookshop.
We had coffee and cake in the cafe. The cake looked lovely - we had the chocolate and beetroot cake, but unfortunately was very dry. The coffee was delicious.
We couldn't purchase any plants due to our itinerary but the plant sales area looked very interesting with some more unusual plants for sale.‬

‪An excellent visit‬

‪This is a wonderful garden, so well laid out with different areas, all connected by winding paths. We came here last year during the autumn but different plants out during the spring of course and well worth a visit at any time of the year. ‬

‪Lovely walk in beautiful surroundings filled by lunch on patio‬

‪Lovely walk followed by a delicious lunch.
The gardens are so peaceful and colourful, we had a nice walk around the grounds, sat for a while on one of the many benches. Wonderful aromas from the plants, vibrant colours of rhododendrons. We had lunch in the cafe, I tried the coronation quiche, spinach and broad beans was absolutely delicious, my Aunt had leek and potato soup, we shared a piece is pistachio gluten free cake, which was very good with coffees, flat white was a good coffee to try.
Really enjoyed my visit and I’m not a gardener but appreciate others.‬

‪No longer a Member of the Gardners World two fir one scheme !‬

‪Well it's a beautiful garden and we have visited it many times before as it was part of the 2 for one entry scheme and had been for many years .However this year they are no longer part of the scheme and we certainly are not paying £26 for the two of us .They will.loose money because its far better to have half the amount and have more people visiting rather than put your prices up and stop a large part of your demographic who are older people who found the scheme a very good way of accessing the gardens .We visited about three times a year but wont go anymore ..‬
