I did email rather than leaving a bad review but I’ve had no reply and judging by recent reviews I’m not the only one who was really disappointed this year. I really hope they take the feedback onboard. Santa visits in the UK are really expensive so you have to chose carefully where and when you see him. So to spend £100 and have less than 10 seconds with him and no photo isn’t good enough. There was no music in the Santa tent just a short play which my 1 & 3 year old struggled to follow. When I asked a member of staff why it was so quick there response was so they could run more trains. We queued a really long time for food and in the end had to give up. Felt like we’d spent an awful lot of money just to use the playground.

The snow was the most magical thing about our visit, it would have been very poor otherwise.
The train ride was late leaving, not ideal with a 2 year old. 15 minutes to actually get on and the train to leave despite us turning up on time.
The train ride itself was ok but 50% of it didn’t have any entertainment which we expected for the amount we paid for such a short ride. 12 days of Christmas was cute but very small and therefore hard to appreciate when going past quite quickly.
The main show was in a tent and for the whole length of the train there were 3 elves, who were mainly performing in the middle of the train, with one occasionally running mg up to see us at the front of the train. 2 year old couldn’t see anything but some stuffed reindeer, fake snow and fairy lights for most of it. Definitely needs many, many more elves so that every part of the train feels included and so young children (who are paid for) can see the show!
Father Christmas looked the part, but went past very quickly and didn’t ask for my daughters name or engage with her or anything. I feel like a personal touch seems to be missing from all Christmas events these days, and this one is sadly no exception…
The parking attendants and those at the entrance were all very friendly and welcomed us so that was nice.
Not sure we will return after paying upwards of £60 for less than (slightly disappointing) hours visit.
The playground needs to be gritted, as there was ice and my toddler was upset that she couldn’t use all of the play equipment.
No indoor activities was surprising as it was mentioned last year that there was a big marquee - there didn’t seem to be much to do after the short train ride. Which would have been fine, if the price reflected a 20 minute train ride.
We won’t be rushing to purchase tickets next year that’s for sure.

Disappointed to see the event has been scaled down. There was no little show with Santa calling before we left the station, no Polar Express music as the train set off and sitting at the very front of the train, very little time to speak to Santa at the grotto before the elves began dancing to signal our departure. Also, before we had left the station our nearest elf stopped dancing and began clearing up. This has not happened on previous visits when Santa and the elves posed for photos and spent time chatting to the children.
The grounds were beautifully decorated but there were fewer activities (no face painting). The previous large marquee was far more appropriate for a winter event. Poor value now. I hope somebody re-thinks things for next year.

My daughter and 2 grandsons 3 & 1 visited early December, we were really disappointed this year, the scenes going around on the train were the twelve days of Christmas which my grandsons wouldn’t even know about. The bubbles were not working which last year my grandson loved. Over £70 for us to have a 20 minute train ride definitely not worth the money with nothing much else to see will NOT be returning

We’ve visited audley end 3 times before. The Christmas/Santa experience was first class last year! We’ve also been to the Easter and Summer event.
However this was SUCH a disappointment! The mini Christmas show mid train ride was the biggest disappointment. It seemed much shorter than last year and the staff were far less interactive. We were sat at the end of the train (the last carriage was completely empty)
We were craning our necks to see anything. Last year’s was a wow and this year’s was such a flop! The Father Christmas and entertainment staff stopped waving and dropped out of character while we were heading off and we could see it! Gift was an unimaginative stuffed small snowman teddy.
Reindeer food and letter writing was okay ish but not much of an uplift after the poor train show. Letter writing elf character was excellent though. The only saving grace was mother Christmas. Very entertaining!!!
Such a shame as wanted to make it an annual thing after last year’s amazing event. The show at the train ride needs some serious tweaking!! Save your money and go elsewhere.

Lovely train ride through the woods to see Santa and to pick out the displays of the 12 days of Christmas on the way. Bit underwhelmed by the other activities although my grandson enjoyed the playground. The worst thing was the food - very expensive and not very good - so I would advise to take your own.

We visited the miniature railway for the Christmas event. We arrived 30 mins before our train ride as suggested and tried to find the car park no real signage just a couple of people stood around not really helping. After we parked we made our way to the entrance as it had been snowing it looked very good and the train ride with the short show was very good with the kids getting to meet santa can’t complain about that. After the train ride it was very cold and being an open carriage it was freezing -3 so we looked for somewhere to warm up with the kids! We found the food area so decided to eat and sit in the warm tent. Turns out the warm tent was not warm as the staff informed us the heaters weren’t working so we have two very cold children now waiting in a tent for some overpriced food 12 quid for a pizza which was taken from a frozen pizza box from any supermarket and 7 quid for a burger the size of a 50 p piece. After the food the children where so cold we decided to leave so didn’t get to see anything else. Definitely won’t be returning, my wife emailed them tell them about our trip and they just said it’s not there fault it’s cold- fair enough I get that but at least have places to warm up especially a family event where small children go. Oh and then they said the heaters had ran out of fuel well if that’s the case you need to make sure you have enough fuel so people’s days are not spoilt by this. A day out that cost nearly 80 pounds that’s just tickets not including the overpriced food to be freezing cold and not really enjoy it! On this particular day we where definitely not the only ones to have issues lots of cold crying children leaving and moaning parents.

This seemed a lot for 6 of us but was amazing value !! This is not just a train ride - a great experience . The staff were all fantastic starting with lovely car park men !!! Every member of staff put their heart into their job. Food was a good value and even tents were warmed . Thank you so much - our family came from Ireland for this and will come next year !

I took my grandchildren , 6 & 3 to the railway this weekend ; it was completely magical .
Every small person should experience this treat at Christmas. I have brought my various grandchildren here for 5 years and it was always wonderful but since the lockdown they have improved everything so much
The train ride itself is lovely and the children were wide eyed and enthralled the entire time. After the train the letter writing to Santa and making the reindeer food kept them fascinated and then Mother Christmas gave an impromptu chat which they sat watching with total awe. All the staff were delightful and I, as a grandmother I simply loved watching the children' s wonder at it all.

We were really looking forward to this after having such a good experience back in 2019. This year, there was no magic about it at all. The layout was poor with separate tents for the activities. The activities felt borning, standard at best.
The train ride was great and my son really enjoyed that but then you get to the 'grotto' to see Santa. Santa was good, very friendly and took the time to speak to all the children but this year we didn't even get a photo with Santa, which meant nothing to take away with us as a memory/keepsake.

Why have you increased the Halloween train ride by £2 a head this year. You are pricing families with children out of the attraction

Hi how long does it take to do the elf and fairy walk? Is there a play area and enough to keep a two and five year old occupied for a morning??

Hi, The Fairy and Elf Walk could potentially take you up to an hour to complete. There are 23 individual Fairies and Elves to find along with other animals, gnomes, trolls etc. You also make a wand and visit the wishing tree along your way too! We have a large picnic and play area with a variety of wooden play equipment and also have the train rides which run approx. every 25 minutes. The ride takes 20 minutes. There is definitely enough to do to occupy your children for a morning :)

Can you tell me if the little train is a separate price to the big train?
If so how much is the little train?

Hi There,
Yes we have our main train and also have a model engineers train that is much small that runs on a Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday, this is £1.00 per person for 1 go.
