Normally super five star venue is permanently closed

So sad to read that this is closing down. Over the years brought two generations of kids to this fascinating place. No chance of crowdfunding, grant, investment, reprieve? This is a national treasure and should be saved.

Bought an Owl Night Flight experience as a special birthday gift for my partner, couldn't have been more pleased. Lovely venue, met by friendly staff and a glass of mulled wine - perfect start. Set out in the countryside, lit by fairy lights and with beautiful views of the stars even before you get to see the birds - who are all absolute magic. Watching them fly by moonlight - unforgettable. Each has a very distinct personality and the relationship between them and their handlers is astonishing to watch. You watch an indoor flight to begin with, then there is lovely food in the cafe. After that, a chance to visit the birds at rest and down to the flight ground for the owls by moonlight. Just magical. Can't wait to visit again - and it wasn't even my gift! Great event for any age, made a perfect special present. Very happy I chose this.

Best night ever at the best birds of prey centre. We did the owl experience for a friends birthday and it was truly magical. The whole place was lit up with golden lights and we were made to feel so welcome. I can't recommend this place enough a wonderful night with some beautiful.

Amazing evening of owl flying last night, really informative and magical with the owls lit up under the various lights as they flew. Really good dinner too! Would definitely recommend!

Bought tickets for the Owl Flying Evening as a pre Christmas treat for my family ..what a wonderful magical evening it was ,very friendly knowledgeable staff ,wonderful owls in a perfect setting aswell as being educational it was such fun ..welcomed with hot mulled wine and a short display on the top lawn before enjoying a warming meal before the main flying event ..was very impressed with the care taken to seat 40 people in 2 different areas to eat the meal so as to make everyone safe ... the highlight for my 10 yer old granddaughter was the flying of the Snowy Owl ( she is slightly obsessed with these owls!!) for my daughter and myself it was the Barn Owl
Highly recommend this event and in fact the centre itself ..always an interesting visit...

Fantastic place to visit. The staff are very friendly and informative, also my wife lost her phone during our visit, we spoke to their staff about the loss and they said they will take a look around. Within minutes we had a phone call reporting they had found the phone and would hold on to it so we could collect it. Fantastic service, we will definitely be visiting again. Thank you to everyone there, we had an amazing day.

Brought the owl evening experience for my husband last year but unfortunately it was cancelled . So last night was very special and it didn’t disappoint! So magical watching the owls flying at night among the lights . The staff were exceptional- very knowledgeable and helpful. All in all a truly magical event.

We went to one of the owl evenings at the centre. We were blessed with good weather, and it was a wonderful experience. The owls were obviously the highlight, we saw lots flying and more still in their cages. It was so good to see them at their liveliest, listening to all the different calls and interacting with each other and the wild owls. The meal that came with the evening was very tasty, good portions with a choice of mulled wine or warm apple juice. All of the staff were polite, helpful and very passionate about their work and the birds. A real treat!

Brilliant Owl Evening last night. So we’ll organised by friendly, knowledgeable staff. From welcome mulled wine, to two different flying demos and a two course dinner in between it was a great night. Lovely to be able to explore the centre by fairy lights too with atmospheric owl hoots on all sides! I’d thoroughly recommend this experience. We learnt so much.

Hi, are dogs allowed ?

No, the proximity to the birds is such that there is too much risk of stress to the birds from dogs they are not familiar with.
The staff are dog friendly, if you give them a call they can tell you what help they can offer for your dogs while you're in the centre.
From their website:
We are sorry but we do not allow visitors dogs on site. There are plenty of shaded areas in which to park your car and you are welcome to go out of the Centre as often as you wish to check them.

how many hours do you anticipate to be spent here? how long is each flying display demonstration? Thanks!

We were there around three hours. Some people came in walked round the aviaries once, saw a display and left after about an hour and a half, but you'd miss so much doing this. Each display is different, we saw three different demonstrators and the birds are always different from one demo to the next. They lasted about half an hour each and are spaced out during the day with a couple of hours between each. We had lunch in between and had a mooch around the little shop too. There are often workers cleaning out aviaries who answer any questions. They are so knowledgeable and care for the birds so well. They also fly some birds in the demo arena to exercise/ rehabilitate/train birds not taking part in the displays. Really hope this helps and you enjoy it.

We run a small B&B and three holiday cottages, one cottage is wheelchair accessible and we were impressed with your facilities for the disabled.

What happens if it's raining a bit? Do the flying displays go ahead outdoors or do they use the indoor display area?

If it rains they have flying displays inside a large barn-like building. They can't fly some of the birds but they do have displays. There isn't much shelter outside so take an umbrella so that you can still see the birds when the flying exhibits aren't happening. It's a great place. Don't be put off by the weather.
