Nice and great place,its recomended for the tracking and good scenery...the air is fresh, and also the scenery is very enchanting ... the exotic blue fire has only two places in the world ... try this unbeatable experience, so I'm sure you will feel satisfied and amazed by the greatness of God

Uma ida ao vulcão LJEN é algo de feérico. Vale a caminha de 4 horas com noite cerrada, pois quando o sol começa a nascer é indescritível o que se começa a desenhar num horizonte de 360 graus.Umas das noites mais incríveis da minha vida.

Hanya ada dua blue fire (api biru) yang ada di dunia, salah satunya ada di Indonesia, di kawasan ijen. Untuk mendapatkan foto dengan background blue fire ini bisa dibilang susah susah gampang karena kita harus turun menuju ke arah kawah dalam kondisi gelap dan cukup curam tetapi perjuangan itu sangat akan terbayar ketika kita mendapati blue fire dengan mata sendiri. Ketika menuju best view untuk berfoto dengan blue fire gunakanlah pakaian yang cukup hangat, bawa beberapa masker untuk menutup mulut dan hidung guna melindungi dari asap belerang, bawa air secukupnya, tidak perlu membawa banyak barang, pakai headlamp, bawa kamera slr dan hp sehingga nanti bisa dipilah mana foto yang lebih bagus, perlu teman untuk saling bergantian untuk memberikan penerangan saat berfoto, dan kenakan sandal gunung atau sepatu gunung yang ringan. Sesungguhnya pendakian yang dilakukan tidak terlalu lama dan the best view of ijen blue fire bisa didapatkan berkisar pukul 2 hingga 3 pagi.

Kawah ijen,ya itulah nama tempat eksotis yang ada di Banyuwangi ini.
Membutuhkan kekuatan fisik untuk bisa mencapai puncak dan kawah gunung ijen.
Tapi semua itu akan terbayar dengan pemandangan yang disajikan diatas ketinggian ini.
Pakailah penutup hidung ketika siang hari,karena asap belerang akan mengganggu pernafasan anda
Membutuhkan kekuatan fisik untuk bisa mencapai puncak dan kawah gunung ijen.
Tapi semua itu akan terbayar dengan pemandangan yang disajikan diatas ketinggian ini.
Pakailah penutup hidung ketika siang hari,karena asap belerang akan mengganggu pernafasan anda

It is to be said that we went there from Bali, so we were already quite tired because of the 6 hours drive + 2 hours ferry. Anyway, the path is very very steep, they say everybody can do it but that's true only if you mention also a LOT of FATIGUE.
It took 2 hours and a half to get to the top. And then, we expected to see the blue fire, but we only saw a distant, weak, blue-ish small light.
You have to go down for one more km to get close to the lava, but only if you can resist to the smoke and the steepness (here it is very hard).
Also, it is quite likely that the fog or the clouds will spoil the view.
The only highlight was coming back: we came across a beautiful sunrise.
It took 2 hours and a half to get to the top. And then, we expected to see the blue fire, but we only saw a distant, weak, blue-ish small light.

Levez 00h30 pour pouvoir observer ce phénomène naturel. En pleine nuit après avoir marché 2 heures nous pouvons observer le blue fire. La sortie du souffre de la roche crée une lumière bleue incroyable.ATTENTION il faut une bonne condition physique pour faire cette excursion.

An amazing experience! We opted to do the blue flame tour when we visited Ijen Crater. This meant we had to leave our hotel at 00H30 in the morning and drove for almost 2 hours up into the mountains. At the entrance point at Kawah Ijen, we booked a local guide (a miner) who escorted us throughout.
The road from this point to the crater is 3km and very very steep. You need to be fairly fit in order to reach the crater. Being a weekend, this attraction was a bit crowded. There were tourists from all over the world, but bulk was local Indonesian tourists visiting Kawah Ijen. When you reach the rim of the crater, there is a 700meter steep stone-hopping climb down to the floor. It is scary, especially since at this time of night it's still pitch dark (about 03H30). Our guide came in very handy here, as he knows the way extremely well, he climbs this every single day. It is very important to have a flash light to see where you are going - even better, a head lamp - so your hands are free.
Tourists are actually prohibited from going down the crater to where the surfer is being mined, there is a sign at the top of the rim - but so many do this anyway. It does cause a bit of irritation to the miners who are climbing in and out of that mine twice a day + walking the 3kms there and back twice a day too. They carry loads of heavy suffer on their shoulders (70-100kg) and sell them for a mere USD2 per kg. Due to the strong sulfur dioxide gasses - I would strongly recommend that you bring your own appropriate gas mask. The strength of the gas release varies and the mine will be shut if the toxicity levels are too high. They are dangerous though even on a good day. Mine workers cannot afford the expensive protective gear, and are exposed to these harmful gasses on a daily basis. The average life expectancy of these miners are aprox 40 yrs due to illness and damage caused to their lungs as a result of prolonged exposure to the sulphur dioxide gases.
Once we reached the bottom, we could clearly see the blue flames dancing around. What an amazing sight. The blue flames appear when the sulphur dioxide gas comes into contact with oxygen and combusts. It then turns into a liquid, which hardens into the yellow sulphur we know when it cools down. This is then the product that the miners collect and sell. You are able to buy a small keep-sake (moulded sulphur animal or shape) from some of the miners. It's fantastic to interact and see the mining process - and to be right there in the middle of it. It was extremely cold though, so make sure to wear lots of warm clothes - beanies, scarf, jacket, gloves and most important - proper hiking / climbing shoes!!
Between 5-6am the sky turned light and the beautiful turquoise acid lake became visible right next to us. Wow, what a sight.
We made our way back up the crater and returned by walking the now much easier 3km downhill. Legs were a bit jelly-ish from all the exercise, so please take caution, as the downhill road can be slippery.
