Maman and his staff were very competent, serious and knowledgeable. Maman also speaks great English. My friend and I had a great time doing both the water canyon and the Krakatoa volcano. I can only recommend Maman and the tours he offer!

We found Mr. Apud's contact information on Trip Advisor and contacted him via What's App. He was extremely responsive and gave us a run down on the options available. We chose to do the day trip with 4 people at 1.2 million Rp. per person. We chose to stay at a hotel further away (Aston Anyer Beach Hotel) because we didn't like the options close to Carita Beach. Keep in mind that this was the area hardest hit by the tsunami of December 2018. The package included the boat, guide, entrance fees, water, lunch and snorkeling. The boat was the perfect size for four people along with the guide and crew. It took about 1:15 to get to Krakatau - weather was clear and perfect. Our guide Mr. Jasmine was kind and friendly, providing enough information to make it worthwhile. But the main reasons to have a guide here are - traversing Anak Krakatau would be treacherous without someone who knew the route AND he could take pics of us!!! But back to the main event - Anak Krakatau - it's simply breathtaking and amazing. We were able to go ashore and climb up the crater rim. The walk up is quite strenuous and requires extreme caution because the ground is hot and soft with lots of ravines and deep crevices. Once at the top, the view is absolutely spectacular. We stood at the crater rim marveling at Mother Nature and her wrath and abilities. Snorkeling afterwards was decent. The water is super clear with great visibility and there are abundant fish but the coral is mostly dead. As a diver, this was disappointing but it wasn't the tour company's fault. We did see lots of anemone and Nemo fish, plus a meter long moray eel. Lunch on the beach was peaceful, under a tree, on a mat, and the food was delicious. Mr. Apud and Mr. Jasmine, plus crew took great care of us.

Apud helped organize a great tour of Krakatoa including car from Jakarta airport and boat to the volcanic island.
We did the trip over the weekend landing on Friday evening and catching a plane back on Sunday night and I'd say this is the bare minimum, would definitely be better with three days. The child of Krakatoa and it's crater is definitely the highlight of the trip. For the rest, snorkeling and beaches/camp site are quite mediocre also due to the recent eruption and tsunami which heavily affected the area. Be ready to discuss the initial offers if you want to pay a fair price for the tour ;).
Note that we brought our own camping gear and food so can't comment on what would have been provided as part of the tour. Ateng, our guide on the boat, spoke good English and was friendly and pleasant company for the trip.

If you think there’s nothing much to watch in Jakarta, why don’t you plan visit to Anak Krakatau. A volcano in Java that is 3 hrs away from Jakarta. It was last erupted in December 2018 killing hundreds of people from the tsunami it generated.
I was a solo traveller travelling to Jakarta for a holiday. When I was searching for places of interest I saw that there are tour to Krakatau from TripAdvisor. Visiting a volcano is one my life goals hence I contacted Apud for the tour.
I finally managed to arrange a one day tour from Jakarta to the volcano.
For one person it may be but costly but if u can find 2-6 persons the price could be cheap. Luckily Apud (the tour organiser) managed to find another person to share the tour with me.
I was picked up at 5:00am by the driver from my hotel in Jakarta and drove 3 hours to the boat terminal where I were served with a nice breakfast.
From there we took another 1.5hr speed boat ride to the Anak Krakatau. The island was a wasteland after the eruption in Dec 2018. You could not see any trees or anything on the island. I was great seeing the beast who created the tsunami that took about 400 lives.
We also did the snorkelling near the volcano before we went to the Mother Krakatau island for lunch. FYI Anak Krakatau (child) is the active volcano, not the Mother.
After volcano visit, we came back from the island around 2pm and reached Jakarta around 7pm.
Tour includes,
1. Transport from Jakarta and return
2. Breakfast
3. Speedboat
4. Soft drinks/ water
5. Snorkelling and Snorkelling gear
6. Lunch
Basically you don’t have to pay any additional money at all.
It was a nice experience for me and a well organised tour by Apud and the team.

Mr. Roman squeezes every penny from us. He charged a fortune for a terrible, unsanitary tour around Ujung Kulon.
Put us up in a ratty half abandoned condo in Carita (please see review of “Carita Beach Resort”), in a beach that is literally a Cesspool.
We spent 3 days in a dodgy, unsanitary boat with a guide that barely spoke any English. We were promised snorkelling and kayaking, and it was a joke, they just threw us somewhere to “snorkel “ where there was nothing to see. “Kayaking “ was one old man dragging an old wooden canoe with all of us down an unremarkable mangrove.
Worst trip ever.

It was a childhood dream of my husband to meet Anak Krakatau, so we took a 34-hour trip to do it. We found the Guide to Krakatau on Instagran and arranged the tour by WhatsApp and emails. We chose a package with one night in a hotel in Caritas and one night camping in Rakata.
It was all very well managed, the driver picked us up in Jakarta punctually, in a clean and comfortable car. We were greeted in Caritas by the Maman (best and friendliest guide) to check in at the Hotel. We were so thrilled that the Maman gently took us to see the Kratatau Monitoring Center and the city's fish market.
The tour to the volcano was also excellent. Safe boat with experienced crew. All the infrastructure for the camp was provided by Maman with good quality. We camp in Rakata with all the security and great location to watch the eruptions of Anak Krakatau. All meals were provided with excellence, with emphasis on dinner, which was certainly the best in Java, and the delicious breakfast prepared for us.
Maman was a spectacular guide. So nice, friendly, flexible that he looked like an old childhood friend, while still being professional all the time. He took many pictures and sent us. He also sent information about the conditions of the volcano, even after the trip. He has much knowledge about the history of the volcano and explained us in detail.
What would I do differently next time? Maybe I would stay the two nights camping next to Krakatau because Carita did not attract me so much.

I'm writing this review for Maman since he was our guide for Anak Krakatau and snorkelling. First, he was very flexible. Initially we planned to go on a Friday but change to a Saturday. He was on time to pick us up. Speed boat was manned by driver and mechanic (and Maman). All arrangements were made including two meals with no fried rice. He was curteous and not over bearing and had a good sense of humor. He never pressured us that it's time to move on or that we must leave. He had a Go Pro and will send us pics. When we had lunch a few guys from Singapore asked me where did we get the water melon? Maman arranged it. We had it after lunch and then again after we finished snorkeling.
I have no hesitation to recommend Maman if you are ever in need of a tour guide for Anak Krakatau and snorkeling.
In addition, Maman also arranged our pick up from Jakarta airport. He communicated using Whatsapp. The driver was waiting in the right place with our names. He even sent photos of the car that would collect us....inside and outside. It was the same car.
Top tour guide with good communication skills and attention to detail.
I have no hesitation to recommend Maman if you are ever in need of a tour guide for Anak Krakatau and snorkeling.

It was always a dream of mine to visit Krakatau, so on a solo trip to Indonesia I got in touch with a number of guides to arrange a day trip. I saw Maman recommended on trip advisor. He was always very punctual communicating (by email then txt) and all the travel plans (pick up in Jakarta) happened smoothly. At the last minute I was able to share the trip which brought the cost down.
Pick up in Jakarta at 3.30am (he even txted the drivers name to me), private car to Carita where we met Maman at a cafe and had coffee, a briefing and paid. Walk to the beach (across the road) and got on a double engine power boat. 1.5 hours to Krakatau _ into the spectacularly blown Caldera with remains of Rakata looming at one end and Anak Krakatau steaming away. The boat went around the entire volcano so you could see close by new and old lava flows. When we got there (about 10am) and were the only people there. 30min climb to viewing point through pumice and lava bomb field. We were the only 3 people on the island and it really is something. After time to explore, back on the boat to inlet at Rakata to snorkel, have lunch and walk a little around the coast. It's a beautiful rugged spot. Then back on the boat, return to carita and after coffee and snack, back by private car to Jakarta.
Maman was a great, friendly guide. Although not a geologist he is very knowledgeable about krakatau. Everything was arranged very smoothly and it was a pleasure to meet him. Without any hesitation I can recommend the day trip and maman as a great guide. Considering all the travel elements to the day, how much you see and how long the day is (it's quite exhausting if you're coming from Jakarta) I think the price is very reasonable. I paid around £80 / 80 euros (there were 2 of us).
Thank you maman, an unforgettable trip for me.

We did a 3d/2n trip that included overnight camping on Anak Krakatau. Our organiser - Abdul Rahman - aka Maman was a great guide, with good English and a good sense of humour. He was very helpful with information plus giving advice on other things to do in Java. The camp on Anak Krakatau was basic. Out tent was adequately sized for 2, but in particular there was no mattress/foam mat of any kind so it was not easy to get comfortable. The crew kept us fed well and had lots of cold drinks. A tip, if you want alcohol, you will need to specifically request this before the trip. The walk to the viewing level of the volcano was relatively easy and takes only around 30 minutes. The views are spectacular. As part of the trip, we were taken to snorkelling spots and we also requested to go out on the boat at sunset for photographing the island at dusk. Maman and his crew were great, they were very helpful and hospitable. Overall, though the sleeping in tent arrangements are not great and can be improved, the trip is definitely worth doing.
